  1. https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/baseball/news/white-soxs-adam-engel-makes-progress/ Sounds like he is at least a week away. At this point I expect Hamilton back before Engel.
  2. I can see Goodwin and Engel pinch hitting for each other, but is there any other right handed hitter in the lineup where you would pinch hit Lamb for him even against a tough righty? I don't see another spot.
  3. I don't know how much of it is the need to rest certain guys, or if it's an obsession by Tony to make sure every bench guy starts at least 1 of every 3 games.
  4. It should always be on the mind of the manager/pitching coach as to whether their pitching usage would change if the offense scores more runs. In this case, the offense already had 14 runs and the Cubs were on their 7th pitcher. There was at least a reasonable chance that the lead was going to push out to 6-7 where Ruiz would have been used. Are there negative consequences to having Ruiz warm up and then end up not using him if the Sox hadn't scored?
  5. Did the second one get damaged beyond repair? Is there an outrageous rental fee to use the second one? Did MLB ban warming up two pitchers at once? I ask because after last night's game, Tony explained that he had Kimbrel up to pitch the 9th with a 4 run lead, but after Grandal's homer stretched the lead to 7, he got Ruiz up but he wasn't ready in time to pitch the 9th. I was wondering if there was a reason the Sox couldn't have had both Kimbrel and Ruiz warming up already to prepare for all eventualities, or was the manager just asleep at the wheel again?
  6. He will be on it if for nothing else as a guy who can eat innings if they happen to get blown out in a game. Need someone to cover that role so that you can go with a 12 man pitching staff that gets you an extra bench player.
  7. I doubt Grandal is DH. In addition to him resting, I think either Jimenez or Robert gets a day off with Leury and Goodwin both in the OF.
  8. The White Sox made 24 outs. Hernandez and Garcia made 10 of them.
  9. Last night, Reynaldo Lopez got 15 outs facing 14 batters (1 caught stealing) on 59 pitches All other pitchers for both teams combined got 36 outs facing 80 batters on 323 pitches
  10. 8/28: Sox now hold a 10 game lead over Cleveland, 12.5 over Detroit, with a magic number of 25. Tampa Bay has a 4 game lead over New York and 7 over Boston. Houston now has a 6.5 game lead over Oakland and 7.5 over Seattle. Yankees now lead the Wild Card race by 3 games over Boston. Oakland is 3.5 games out of the 2nd WC spot, Seattle 4.5 out. Tampa leads the playoff seeding race by 4 over Houston and 6 over the Sox. In the NL, San Francisco's division lead over the Dodgers is at 2.5 games, and Cincinnati has a 2 game lead over San Diego for the 2nd WC spot.
  11. Robert's single represents the first baserunner in an even numbered inning for the Sox.
  12. Wait. He's been with the Sox how many years and they just now figured out that he couldn't fucking see the strike zone?
  13. Sox spotted the Cubs a 6 run lead and are only getting guys on base in odd numbered innings and still lead by 3.
  14. I don't know if such a thing is tracked but that has to be about the most win probability has swung in the 3rd inning of a game.
  15. This has been the most surreal first 3 innings of a game I've ever seen. It's also a first 3 innings that has taken 110 minutes.
  16. Did I hear Jason's story correctly, that some guy got called up for Boston so late that he had to drive from Buffalo to Cleveland, got there after the game started, and got a go ahead pich hit homer in the 8th?
