  1. I will echo what others have said - Vaughn is a 23 year old top hitting prospect. He can't be used as strictly a platoon player this season at the expense of his long-term development. He needs to play 5+ times per week whether that be in Chicago or at Charlotte. Are there better options for LF right now? Yes. Barring more injuries and given the upcoming schedule can this team live with Vaughn playing over those better options, at least until Eloy is back? Yes.
  2. From what I am seeing, everything that is coming through is scattered. I would say there is a high chance of having a rain delay at some point but low chance of total postponement.
  3. Double elimination tournament in basketball eliminates the billions of dollars gambled on bracket prediction pools, which keep ratings sky high. No way the NCAA messes with that.
  4. Sorry to interrupt the Vaughn discussion, but since this thread is about Engel's injury, has anybody heard anything on how long he might be out?
  5. By division: East: AL 36-17 Central: AL 25-20 West: NL 31-21
  6. Moncada coming out was proably just a double switch with the pitcher's spot due up first in the (hopefully only hypothetical) 10th.
  7. Pitcher's spot due up first in a potential 10th inning, so I'm guessing a double switch here with Mendick to 2B, Leury to LF, Vaughn to 1B and Abreu out?
  8. Can't afford to have Bummer go to his usual 3 ball count with his first batter.
  9. I know that bad teams are easier to pitch against than good teams, but Cease takes it to an extreme.
  10. Can somebody get Frank in the same room as TA and Jose? He knows what they're doing wrong.
  11. Leury now has 13 career HR vs NL and 14 vs AL despite playing his entire career in the AL. Maybe an NL team should trade for him.
  12. Collins' starts are based on who is pitching for the Sox, not for the other team. It's just an unfortunate coincidence that the majority of times Giolito and Rodon start, a lefty is starting for the other team.
  13. Those were both very close. Not egregious. I'm all for Tony standing up for his players but it needs to be worse than what was shown in this video.
  14. Send a message to the lineup that they need to get it together. Bat Cease 4th and Abreu 9th. Not kidding. Do it for one game to send a message.
  15. A new 80k+ seat stadium with a retractable roof undoubtedly brings at least one Super Bowl and multiple Final Fours, perhaps a college bowl game, and lots of other opportunities. If the Bears decide to go the private ownership route, there will be plenty of opportunity to get a return on their investment. If there is enough space for a retail/dining district after you have the stadium and parking, there's another way to make money.
  16. I wasn't born yet during Frank's best years but looking at his numbers I'm seeing a guy with Abreu's power, Grandal's plate discipline and Madrigal's contact ability.
  17. Adam Engel was on the team for a week and is 2nd on the team in homers for June. That's a perfect summary of the offense this month.
  18. Burr making a strong case to stick around even when Kopech and Fry come back.
  19. Nice double play grounder right into the shift. Oh, wait . . .
  20. I think he got announced before the pitching change, but hey look, a hit!
  21. There is no logical reason to believe this but I have a weird feeling that we're going to have a breakthrough inning here.
