  1. thanks for listening to it. please don't hesitate to give feedback, even if it's negative. so you know, we don't talk about the Sox until the second segment, which is like 15 minutes in or so.
  2. I downloaded the audio to another site. click this link and it will download. http://scaliseltd.com/mario/fromchicago03-23-05.mp3
  3. the site has been down over the past couple days because we went over our traffic allowance/bandwidth. we bought more space but it'll take another day before it's back up. if you'd like, I can email you the audio. sorry.
  4. QUOTE(Goldmember @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 11:31 PM) : hmm, read the whole thread before asking a question? sounds logical.
  5. is there going to be a replay of this or an audio clip that I can listen to after? I won't be around at that time.
  6. Hey, Just in case you guys are interested, I previewed the White Sox this week on my podcasting show at 360thepitch.com If anyone is interested in listening ot it, go to http://www.360thepitch.com/radio/fromchica..._from=&ucat=11& unfortunately, the Flash Player isn't functioning right now (some bugs need to be worked out), so you'll have to download the MP3 and wait for it. Anyway, if you listen, enjoy. If you don't enjoy it ... feel free to send me hate mail. see ya. PS - I'm pinning this topic. If any mod or admin wants to unpin this, feel free.
  7. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 01:07 PM) Just like PK is willing to give the Sox a hometown discout, the Sox may want to think about overpaying for him just a bit. It can't all be about numbers. Frank is close to retirement and he isn't the most fan-friendly player. Paul Konerko is the face of the White Sox. Like it or not, a big-hitting, beer-swilling, speak-his-mind, type of person (such as PK) is the person who needs to represent the Southsiders for the next 5 years. Actually Konerko and Rowand should lead the Sox until 2010. Hard-nosed grinders. you are right, Konerko is a good face for the franchise, which is why I would consider giving him a 4-5 year deal for close to $10 mil, IF he has another productive season and proves to be an important bat in the lineup.
  8. I like Konerko and wouldn't mind seeing him sign a long-term deal, but let's not forget the last time he signed a deal. A year into it, a lot of people, including management, were looking back and questioning whether it was a good move, and looking ahead and seeing $16 million going to a player who may not be worth it. Unless Konerko reproduces what he did last season, there is no reason to give him $10 mil or more a season.
  9. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 03:27 PM) Both Kenny & Ozzie made references to Uribe playing 3B. All the major baseball sites (incl fantasy) show Uribe as #2 in their depth charts/tables for 05 ChiSox. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/springStats?team=chw&year=2005 I've read a column at Fox Sports that has a different take on all this. That columnist suggests the White Sox are hoping Davis continues to look impressive in Cactus league play so other teams will take an interest in him. The column goes on to say the ChiSox are happy with Burke's hitting in CL play & are experimenting with him at 1B, 3B. It seems to suggest Burke has all but secured a spot on the rotation as a 3rd C with the intention that the team will trade Davis when the first opportunity presents itself. All of the reports I'm reading about Ozuna & Valdez is that they are not good D players. They are more along the line of avg or below avg. If you read the fantasy player reports they state that Uribe represents the only reasonable D sub for the White Sox at 3B. This might be way all of them place Uribe as #2 in the depth chart. I'm thinking Burke is going to have the backup job too and will serve as a backup third baseman option, as will Ozuna and Uribe. Neither Ozuna or Burke are the greatest of options at third, but they are options nonetheless, along with Uribe, I can live with that. However, if Crede starts to struggle, then the Sox will have some work to do, unless Ozuna busts out and allows Uribe to shift to third.
  10. the Sox should be carrying 11 pitchers, which mean they should have room on teh roster for both Harris and Ozuna, to go with Gload, Perez and Burke. Once Thomas comes back, you decide on who goes: Harris or Perez. Harris will be needed this season. With Crede, Uribe and Iguchi all question marks, you need some type of option somewhere in the infield. Harris gives them that option at second.
  11. I used to watch that show every Saturday morning. Jackson, Jordan and Gretzky. I don't remember it too much, I just know I never missed it.
  12. I've been in two car accidents where my head cracked the windshield. One I had to go to the doctor to get some glass out. Surprisingly, I didn't feel a thing. I guess I was just happy I was alive. I wear my seatbelt a lot more now.

    Moving to Chicago

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 8, 2005 -> 08:24 AM) Your might be asking for too much for too little. Tell us more. What is your maximum rent budget? Will you have a roomate to split the rent? Do you need to be close to the train?.....or do you drive? Serious question: How 'street smart' are you? I can only suggest Bridgeport to you. Because a lot of people are looking to buy houses (house are going for $300,000 or so) apartments are a dime a dozen and pretty cheap considering you are 10 minutes from downtown, are in a safe neighborhood (despite the media's bulls*** that says otherwise) and, since you are a Sox fan, right by U.S. Cellular.
  14. QUOTE(mreye @ Mar 8, 2005 -> 09:16 AM) I'm not a real big boxing fan, but I thought this show was done really well. I have to admit that I got a bit teary-eyed when the guy was in the shower after he lost. Are they all going to 90 minutes or was that just for the premier? I was watching the show on and off and from what i saw it was good. they actually had legit boxers.
  15. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Mar 7, 2005 -> 09:29 PM) My laptop would work, but i dont have a video out on it and i would have to stream it live but i dont know how to get into the schools wireless network. I am trying to primarily get the story about NBC news screwing up, but I was also looking to get the "International Pamphlet" My group is doing a presentation on “Non-Mainstream” news sources and late night talk shows. gotcha. I doubt this, but I wonder if you were to be able to call and buy the tape for that episode. let them know what you need it for. I was gonna say to watch this week and see if it's a replay week, but new episodes.

    Moving to Chicago

QUOTE(olp_nch @ Mar 7, 2005 -> 08:37 PM) hey, i dont know if you all can help me, but im a life long sox fan from minnesota. I am currently looking to move to chicago soon and have no clue about where to live. i dont know what areas are nice or not so nice. im looking for a 2 BR in a decent area but not spend a huge amount. anything would be helpful thanks when are you looking to move?
  17. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Mar 7, 2005 -> 09:18 PM) I recorded an episode of the Daily Show on March 2nd. I was going to use it for a class project on March 17th, but I just got home from work and found out my fiancee just RECORDED OVER IT!!!!!!! It had EXACTLY what we are talking about in the presentation. Is there anywhere I can find it? I really need this. Comedy Central has the show online, but i cant download it and it is not "broadcast quality" so it wouldnt look good on a TV. perhaps you can use a laptop to show it? I'm assuming you are just looking for a "news" story they showed, right? what topic are you doing it on anyway? I got mine on the 24th, I think.
  18. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 6, 2005 -> 10:53 PM) Throws lefty = not a 3rd baseman this has been mentioned a few times. a lot of people think Gload is right-handed. hell, Gload even throws righty on MVP 2005.
  19. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 6, 2005 -> 10:24 PM) well if Burke makes the team which he might if Willie can do SS cant burke play 3B? yeah, that is one option. If Harris plays short well enough to serve as a utility guy, then the option is to bring Adkins or Burke, but that is if Davis already has the nod over Burke, which I hope isn't the case.
  20. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 11:43 AM) Funny, after Ozzie gets his hand caught in the cookie car, then he goes.. well my situation was different for ripping the sox.. RRRRRRRRRight Ozzie, meet Pot. the difference is the Sox organization was pretty bad back then. Schueler didn't have the balls it seemed to try to win and Bevington was an idiot. They also wanted Guillen gone. in this case, Ordonez was offered a contract even after he was injured, and the White Sox are actually trying to win. while I think Guillen has backed himself into the corner and didn't really make any sense in his latest response, I think the situations are fairly different. Just because two guys complain doesn't mean they were both right in complaining.
  21. I have DirecTV right now and like it, but it's in just one room. For the same price, Dish will put it in up to four rooms, and that includes Tivo. Plus, the bill will be included in the phone bill as it will be done through SBC, so one less bill to pay. We were ready to get it up this month, but after hearing that Comcast SportsNet won't be available till April, I held up and will install it for next month. From what I'm hearing, Dish network either sucks or is great, so I'm assuming it all depends on the signal. I'm on the South Side, a couple blocks from the Cell. Anybody who lives in the city that has Dish?
  22. Need some help. I may be switching to the Dish network through SBC ... they are offering, for $2 more a month, having it on two more TVs in my house. Anyway, I was calling them and trying to find out about Comcast Sportsnet Chicago, to see if they had it and the idiots were clueless as to what I was talking about. Does anyone know if Dish Network has Comcast and if anyone has any thoughts on Comcast (signal, service,...etc.)? Thanks.
  23. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 01:36 PM) From what I hear Molto's is the place to go my cooking days are over.
