  1. QUOTE (zenryan @ Nov 14, 2015 -> 10:22 AM) I like the process of getting to the World Cup almost as much as the actual tournament too. It's a two year event basically. I like how BeIn Sports is showing the CONMEBOL qualifying and other CONCACAF matches live too. I wonder after a good Gold Cup run, is Jamaica going to f*** themselves when it really matters most. I do as well. I enjoyed BeIn showing some of the African qualifiers this weekend too (Tanzania thoroughly outplayed and almost put Algeria in a huge hole).
  2. 2016 Copa America Final will be held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. Other venues confirmed as hosting sites are the Rose Bowl, Seattle, Houston, Soldier Field in Chicago, Orlando, Philadelphia, Glendale and Foxborough. I'm super excited for this tournament. I have 3 venues within 4 hours of me so I really hope the US gets placed in one of them.
  3. One of my favorite things about traveling through Europe this summer was not having to leave tips. I never noticed a lack of service (in relative terms, Europe is different) because of it. In fact, not having one devoted server and instead being helped by whoever was available was convenient. We'd still leave a couple Euros when we felt the service was good, but it was definitely nice not having that 20% obligation at the end of the meal.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 11, 2015 -> 11:09 AM) Not quite sure why Stanford jumped up so much, and I hate seeing Florida lose a spot after a win while FSU stays the same after a loss. Florida looked like trash against a terrible team at home, while FSU looked pretty good against the #1 team on the road. Florida should have dropped more IMO

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 03:42 PM) Walking Dead News: Jeffrey Dean Morgan cast as Negan, rumored to make an appearance toward the end of this season. Sweet. I really think the final shot of the season just needs to be him patting Lucille in his hands. It would be a great set-up even if he isn't immediately introduced next season.
  6. QUOTE (danman31 @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 12:06 PM) I'm heading down to St. Louis for Friday's opening 2018 World Cup qualifier. Anyone else here going to that one? Awesome. Hopefully you get to see newcomers Darlington Nagbe and Matt Miazga play and get cap tied.
  7. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 04:21 PM) Hard not to feel bad for lewis, who could have landed a "Set for life" contract if he kept it up. He signed a two year extension worth $5M about a month ago. So at least he's got that

I think by dragging it out even more, they are making it more obvious that Glenn isn't dead. And next week looks like it will keep dragging the question out even longer.
  9. I can now feel for ND fans that feel coaching lost them their game at Clemson. Jimbo Fisher lost that game for FSU this weekend. Between the asinine decision to start Sean Maguirre over Everett Golson and calling pitch plays with Dalvin Cook on 3rd and 4th and inches, he really hamstrung his team. Clemson is the better team, but with how the FSU defense played, I truly believe they win if Golson was at QB on Saturday.
  10. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 09:07 AM) [/b] Probably because that is, essentially, what San Juan is Well yeah, I get that, but a lot of people associate Puerto Rico more with the Caribbean. If you're looking for that kind of experience, that's not really what San Juan offers. I know when I was there I had expected something different than I experienced.
  11. QUOTE (Ballz-n-Strikes @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 01:55 AM) I'd get on another plane in San Juan and then keep going. San Juan is like is staying in downtown Honolulu. There are so many better places to visit in the Caribbean than PR. A few I've personally been to: Antigua Aruba Jamaica (Twice - I never thought I'd like but did) St. Lucia Barbados (Bring $ - Lots) Anguilla - (See Above) That's it. Oh, I've been to the Dominican Republic too (DR) but I wouldn't recommend it. Place is a complete dump. I'd add Tortola (BVI) to that list too. I agree with the sentiment about San Juan. There's nothing wrong with it, but it's not really Caribbean or unique. It's like a hot US city that speaks Spanish.
  12. Was in San Juan for a day during a cruise several years ago. Went to the Bacardi Distillery, which was not worth it IMO, the old fort which I found cool but I'm a history nerd and walked around old San Juan.
  13. This is actually pretty surprising. Not that $10M is a good price for him at this point in his career, but that we don't really have any other viable alternative to replace him.
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 4, 2015 -> 08:54 AM) As we approach the 11/20 deadline for setting the 40-man roster prior to the Rule 5 draft, here's a look at who needs protecting, who may drop off, and who is at the most risk of a claim in the Rule 5. Anyone disagree with the priorities for protection? Do people think there is a good chance the Sox take someone in the Rule 5? How about pinning a thread with key offseason dates? It'd be easy to just have it in one place whenever people were curious.
  15. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 3, 2015 -> 10:34 PM) Well I think everyone will disagree with you. Still also ignoring the point. No one cares about wins over Rice just as nobody should care losing to the number 1 team. What people should care about is the quality teams you've beaten. I may disagree with saying USC and Navy are great wins but it's way, way more compelling of an argument to me than "But we played a team close!" I'd at least go down that right if I were a notre dame fan. Wrong. I think it's more the opposite that more people will disagree with you. ND losing to Clemson by 2, UM losing to MSU on the last play, Florida losing by a TD on the road to LSU etc are much more impressive than teams beating up on schools like Army, Georgia State and Kansas. I mean what says more about a team, barely losing by 2 on the road to the #1 team in the country, or barely surviving at home to NIU? It's not black and white like you seem to believe. Obviously, a team losing 3 games by 1 point each should not be in over an undefeated school, but quality of play does make a difference in all games played. "What people should care about is the quality teams you've beaten." Yes, agreed, but people already do that. But when you have two teams both with 1 loss and a similar resume in terms of teams defeated, how and under what circumstances those teams suffered their defeat absolutely matters.
  16. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 11:09 AM) Any opinions on that Ricardo Lockette hit? I thought it looked clean but I've heard people saying it was dirty and Heath got an unnecessary roughness penalty for it. I thought it was clean. Wasn't blindside, Lockette clearly saw him coming, was part of the play. The result was bad in part because Lockette lowered his head and took the hit with his head/neck at a bad angle. It was a violent block, but I really didn't see anything dirty or illegal about it. It really should not have even been a flag IMO.
  17. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 30, 2015 -> 12:19 PM) Lol, this is hilarious: http://gizmodo.com/ken-m-is-the-most-epic-...rnet-1739028329 I love this one from the comments: http://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/...95548749603.png I had never heard of that guy but I have spent the last 5-10 minutes reading some of his comments and drawing weird looks from my random laughter at my desk

I get showing an episode on Morgan and what brought him to where he is at currently, but that just felt boring to me. Maybe because of the episode it came right on the heels on, but meh.
  19. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 09:04 AM) The Broncos are 8-0 with half a quarterback. Their defense must be pretty awesome. To be fair, Peyton looked really good last night, but that's probably the first game this year you can say that about him.
  20. QUOTE (danman31 @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 05:07 AM) No reason to be rude. Was just commenting on how lucky your school was. They deserved to lose. Why? Because they stopped Minnesota from scoring on a do or die play? Or because they took the lead with a backup QB? And converting a 2 point conversion that proved to be the difference. I don't particularly like Michigan but I'm not sure how they deserved to lose.

    Home remodel

This may be way too general, but has anyone ever remodeled their kitchen? We are talking about taking out a wall to make the 1st floor more open, new sink, new cabinets, new counter tops. Possibly adding an island and/or a breakfast bar. First of all, do you need to get a permit for interior work only? We were hoping to get stuff done for around $10-12K. Just wondering if anyone has experience going through it and if that is a reasonable expectation. We don't need super fancy or top of the line everything, we're buying a house in pretty good shape except the kitchen is straight out of 1955. Just curious about other's experience here. Thanks! Edit: We already have a brand new dishwasher and would not immediately replace the refrigerator so those would not factor in to costs.
  23. Wow, there are some super defensive responses here to Jenks. I'm kind of with him. I was born in 1983 and saw the movies when I was around 13ish. They're good. I enjoyed them. But I've seen them maybe twice each, and that's enough. I'm not trying to criticize at all, but I have also wondered why the extreme fandom that has followed that franchise for so long has been so huge. Again, not criticizing at all, I am/have been) obsessed with stuff like that before. It's just amazing to me how it's lasted so long for some people. It's like Game of Thrones or Marvel on super steroids. I do get it for people around when they first came out, but anyone my age or younger does surprise me too.
