  1. The non roster invitees who are pitchers signed to minor league contracts must be guys they want to take flyers on given their numbers. They even brought in a 40 year old Jesse Chavez. Crazy, but not unheard of with where the roster and team is at.
  2. Or maybe it should be repurposed for housing or used for other games. To do nothing with it would be such a waste. The Bears would need to heavily invest in Bridgeport to make it worth it.
  3. Does the state of Illinois really have the money for funding another stadium?
  4. Hopefully the public financing is minimal if much at all. Hopefully there is something done with the existing field because it would be a waste if it weren’t used for anything. If they leave for Nashville because the Bears get the funding for a stadium and they don’t, that would be so White Sox and shitty.
  5. Fine, pick him and trade him like Eli Manning and Phillip Rivers. Or maybe Cowherd doesn’t know s%*#.
  6. Remember, you can only have two prospects for Cease and they have to be O’s fans choosing them without discussion!
  7. I think I’ve figured out the Packers. Get small chunks of yardage, get in short third downs, get one explosion play or pass interference penalty and then score. I feel like I’ve seen this script repeatedly as a lifelong Bears fan.
  8. The SI cards you would get when you were a kid were always fun and welcome. Too bad the parent company is gutting the whole company.
  9. It will be interesting to see where Vrabel, Harbaugh and Belichick interview and end up. I’ll be curious to see if the Eagles actually move on from Nick Sirianni with two years left on the contract.
  10. I’m starting to come around to the idea that Williams should be the quarterback they select with the number one pick. It could be the turning point that the franchise definitely needs. The fact that Williams declared and nothing weird has come officially come out makes me think he’s got good character so far. I’d have to evaluate his football tape but it’s probably very good if he’s considered to be generational. Now I wonder if Poles wants this to be the signature move and hope this turns out like Mahomes like in KC. Then they could trade Fields even if I don’t see them getting a first rounder for him, unless the market comes around for it with Atlanta and Pittsburgh. Maybe the coordinator they hire will reveal what the Bears will do with the number one pick. Waldron is still my number one choice. You’d have to think the Bears asked about assessing Fields and Williams and want to know if the coordinator will stay to develop that quarterback. I’ll be curious if Frank Reich gets an interview because of his relationship with Eberflus.
  11. Maybe they could do what Houston did last year, picking Stroud and then trading up to select Anderson.
  12. If they go Williams, I’m hoping they address the wideout situation and the left tackle.
  13. I heard something about him not declaring for for the draft unless they traded the pick. That doesn’t make much sense because he needs to declare if he wants to be drafted. Otherwise he would need to go to the supplemental draft. I would need to know more about Williams’ character to evaluate him. I just hope he wants to play football and doesn’t want to pull an Eli Manning on the Bears.
  14. Did anyone see anything about Caleb Williams and the Bears today that was true? I saw some rumors around him wanting them to trade the number one pick. I didn’t see anyone reputable report anything so I think it’s a non issue and that he will declare tomorrow.

  16. Agreed. They are increasing their subscriber base but alienating viewers. Put the damn game on NBC where it belongs.
  17. Reinsdorf should have booed since the franchise hasn’t done much since 1998, he sucks with the Bulls and White Sox and his organization put on a crappy event. Pippen and Jordan should have tolerated each other and been there. Good for Ron Harper for comforting Jerry Krause’s widow.
  18. I had to look up some of these names to see who you were talking about so this is a great deep dive on potential OCs. Waldron and Bienemy would be numbers one and two and arguments could be made for Dorsey, Bevell, Smith, Kingsbury, Kubiak, Leftwich, Kafka, Moore and even Reich. Hopefully they hire Waldron.
  19. Thanks for your thoughts. What if Eric Bienemy was a possibility? What about Greg Roman? Where would you put them?
  20. 2023: QB Bryce Young, Alabama 2021: QB Trevor Lawrence, Clemson, Jaguars 2020: QB Joe Burrow, LSU, Bengals 2019: QB Kyler Murray, Oklahoma, Cardinals 2018: QB Baker Mayfield, Oklahoma, Browns 2016: QB Jared Goff, Cal, Rams 2015: QB Jameis Winston, Florida State, Buccaneers 2012: QB Andrew Luck, Stanford, Colts 2011: QB Cam Newton, Auburn, Panthers 2010: QB Sam Bradford, Oklahoma, Rams 2009: QB Matthew Stafford, Georgia, Lions 2007: QB JaMarcus Russell, LSU, Raiders 2005: QB Alex Smith, Utah, 49ers 2004: QB Eli Manning, Ole Miss, Chargers 2003: QB Carson Palmer, USC, Bengals 2002: QB David Carr, Fresno State, Texans 2001: QB Michael Vick, Virginia Tech, Falcons 1999: QB Tim Couch, Kentucky, Browns 1998: QB Peyton Manning, Tennessee, Colts Underline is jury is still out. Italics is bust with the first team. Bold is bust. I did this rather quickly so I may be off on some.
  21. I saw several times yesterday where Fields had no chance and would have been throwing it out of bounds or getting called for intentional grounding. Even if Maye or Williams is selected that high? That is one argument. I don’t think I’m arguing for a specific system as much as I am wanting a different OC, another left tackle and a stud WR to go with Fields.
  22. I’m echoing what people want that Fields apparently can’t do and making that the measuring stick for Williams or Maye. I still think Fields can put it together and don’t think we’ve seen him at his best yet. I don’t know what system is going to be the best for him, but I would like to see what a Getsy getting canned and adding more talent around Fields would do. But I am also accepting the fact that the Bears could move on from Fields.
  23. No, I expect that if the Bears draft him, that he’s the guy that they’ve needed. And that if he’s so great as I’m reading, Williams better be on point with throws, reads, passes to where receivers are going, overcoming shitty offensive line and wide receiver play because the quarterback is supposed to overcome all of that. I’m not asking for a prediction as much as I’m asking what people expect out of a highly drafted quarterback in Williams or Maye. Maybe Mahomes level stats after year one or two is what people should expect. I have never understood what Bears fans really expect from their quarterbacks (think Grossman, Orton or Cutler) when they’ve been here. Probably Peyton Manning or Tom Brady level of performance.
  24. But I think there needs to be some level of which to measure Williams if he truly is generational like they say he is. It can’t be just that his numbers are better than Fields. It has to be about results and I think if we are thinking higher than what we have now and where the team is now, Williams needs to be held accountable on a high level. Brad Biggs reported that Eberflus is set to talk with ownership mid this week. He also believes Eberflus is safe.
