  1. Houston loses to Carolina on a field goal after going ahead with 0:35 left to play. Dang.
  2. Dan Bernstein going off on callers over Ryne Sandburg and Josh McCown pronunciations is priceless.
  3. Fans also wanted Hanie over Cutler at one point too.
  4. Hopefully Williams is generational. I have often wanted to know what Bears fans really expected out of a QB. When it was Cutler it seemed like they wanted Peyton Manning. When it was Trubisky they wanted Mahomes. When it is Fields it is Williams. I would be surprised if Fields is dealt since he’s under contract another year unless he comes at a discounted price and they bring in some bum to start over Williams until he is ready to start. If they do have two top picks and select Williams, I hope like hell that they pick a pass rusher or get a tackle. They still need linemen if they go QB. Do what the Texans did with Will Anderson and C.J. Stroud.
  5. How do we know that Fields isn’t their guy and that they are going to give him one more year at quarterback? Should they trade him if he’s not in the plans and they draft Williams? So what are they going to do with Fields? What if Williams is drafted and we have the same mediocrity we have had for what seems like forever since Smith left? That’s not what I said. I was talking collectively about depth, specifically in the trenches. Yep. I’m most concerned with the lack of depth on the offensive and defensive lines. As a team, something is wrong with them and I don’t think it’s primarily Fields. I don’t know if it is coaching, play calling, depth issues or something else. It’s hard to put my finger on it. Maybe Poles will select Williams but I am concerned that they’ll end up in a similar spot to where they are now. However maybe Williams IS the guy and the Bears end up like Kansas City. There are lots of unknowns. If that’s the direction that they take, I hope you are both right and they end up like KC after they took Mahomes instead of the Bears with how bad they’ve been since Smith was gone.
  6. This is where I am at but the QB. There are so many holes on this team that I can’t justify drafting another one high when Fields is around. I may not be a Williams fan yet, but even if Fields holds the ball long enough, I see so many positions that need more, like OL, DE, FS, WR and HB. I thought Poles was going to build the line out and have a team that would win at the trenches. I haven’t seen that yet.
  7. Here are five takes on the bolded from four different people in my text thread of friends. First person, first take: As a Bears fan, I am trying to understand what lift they would get from drafting Williams first overall (if Carolina is the top pick). They have Fields for another year at a minimum. The only way I would say to draft him if he's a generational talent and they can get something of value for Fields. They have other needs than the quarterback. Mock drafts seem to have a hard on for Williams at 1 and Harrison Jr. at 2, both to the Bears. When I know they need more help in the trenches and depending on what they got for the number one pick, I would be inclined to trade it again for more picks. Second person: It depends on how Fields continues to play. If it were me and as long as Fields doesn't regress if I had the number 1 pick, I would trade it down for more picks. Then, my focus would be getting depth at the OL, Edge, Free Safety, interior DL, and WR. This is kind of what I hope Poles does. It depends on where they fall in the draft, what players are available, and who they can pick up in free agency. I did think the OL did very well against a hard Washington DL Thursday night, so that is a step in the right direction, and Jenkins at the left guard looked good in the run game. I hope we can have more wins like that this season and more consistency in there play. Third person: If the bears have 2 top 5 picks and they don't draft at least 1 lineman, then they will continue to earn top 10 picks for a few more years. Fourth person: To me it seems like a slam dunk to trade down for more assets to build around Fields. First person, second take: I'm with the line of thinking second person has, if Fields is competent and had games like he's had over the last two, I think they need to trade down and build around Fields. There are so many needs on this team besides QB and I think they should let another team pick the next QB at and raid another team for picks. That way they have more assets in the future and aren't barren of draft assets like they were in the Pace years with the Trubisky, Fields and Mack trades. Poles has to understand that he needs more talent up front especially on defense.
  8. Has anyone seen Caleb Williams play? I am watching him for the first time and don’t see why the Bears should draft him and get rid of Fields aside from resetting the contract clock. Not sure what Williams does that Fields can’t do.
  9. This interview was on the Score yesterday if you’d like to hear it on YouTube.
  10. Bad play call on 4th down even if I was 70/30 on going for it versus the field goal. Fields also shouldn’t have been in the shotgun for that play in my opinion. After four games, Eberflus looks like a man without a job next year and Fields doesn’t look like the guy even though he played well.
  11. And yet, Fields turned it over for a scoop and score and fans will focus on that tomorrow. Let’s see if he recovers.
  12. Trade him. Move on. Lets hope the Bears finish Denver off, Fields and the offense look great against a bad defense today.👍
  13. For me, it depends on what happens between now and week 10. What does their record look like? Have they won against a series of opponents like the Broncos, Commanders, Vikings and Panthers? I would need to see more out of Fields and less stuck in neutral/failing out of the offense. I think they could draft a quarterback and have a competition next year or try and find a taker for Fields. There are so many variables, it is tough to imagine what they will do.
  14. I mean, it’s KC. I never expected the Bears to put up the kind of points some media members expected them to. His look on the bench during the bad Browns loss a few years ago said and still says it all.
  15. Totally fair. I hope we see that based off what he said in his press conference today.
  16. I’m not saying change the entire offense. I’m saying stop doing the stuff that doesn’t work and play to his strengths. Speed up the offense, speed up his progressions, let him run, do play action, throw on the move and hit receivers in the middle. Who cares if he’s got some Cutler in him and throws a pick? They need to do better than they have on offense, some of which is on Fields but some which is on Getsy. Even if he’s not the guy, change things up to give the offense a chance. The play calling has been suspect over the last few games. It’s not stupid to change things up if things haven’t been working. Make use of his strengths and see if he can make some throws on the run like Vick did. He’s close to being fast like Vick was. He can pass, he can run, whatever. He just needs to be able to play his game and if he makes mistakes for making some I’ll advised throws or a wrong read, okay, but it’s better than taking a sack or not throwing to someone who is open or is near open. Nobody is saying scrap the offense, instead they should work in plays that play to his strengths IN ADDITION TO Fields working on being better in the pocket. Thanks for sharing. You have to think the Bears are doing these kinds of things with coaching. I don’t think they are that inept not to.
  17. What if the Bears modeled plays after an offense for someone like this guy? Forget the screens, work on boot legs, play action, use running plays and passes towards the middle to keep teams guessing. Throw in some designed runs and take advantage of his speed. Make him more dynamic and unleash him as a player rather than do whatever the play calls are trying to achieve right now.
  18. Is the screen where they throw 1-2 yards out and there are maybe one to two blockers? I’m so tired of that play. Let Fields throw into the middle of the field. I don’t like some of Getsy’s play calling. That’s true. But the coaching staff needs to let him run and throw. Getsy’s offense isn’t great. He’s still not seeing the field like I’d like to see but I saw some throws I liked (and some I didn’t like today). Will Poles move on after this season or after 2024? They need a left tackle. Jones sucks a la Ja’Marcus Webb This is a problem. This is a problem. They can’t cover and get pressure. Or see if one of those picks is strong enough to get the QB and draft another impact player. Carolina might be bad…which is great for the Bears. Carter was an option and I wish they had taken with him. But I also was fine with the Wright pick. They will after this year or next. Tomorrow on 670 the Score. Let’s see if a guy who was competent in a few quarters in the preseason can do. I’m just not there yet. Ride Fields out for now. Totally fair analysis, the kind I want the meatballs who just blame Fields to see. I asked one of my friends to put a percentage on how much blame Fields deserves. He said 25%, I expected him to be like other fans who are thinking like 50-75%.
  19. I did not see that, but again, do a giveaway of that shirt instead of honoring a team from the 80s and giving me a shirt I will probably use as a rag.
  20. Thanks, we will check that out next time. Baby steps, I’ve got a lifetime to go with my son and we had a great time regardless. I’ve got great memories that I wanted to get! They need to move on and market to something else. Like do a giveaway for cancer awareness and put Liam on it. It’s more relevant and marketable than a team most of the stadium didn’t grasp. You’re right, the offense sucked.
  21. I will make sure we get a first game certificate, a picture with his grandparents, his mom and I and my dad, son and I together. I bought lower deck seats on the cheap side even though I would have bought club level seats for what you paid given the team’s performance and the weather today. We are going to be up and moving around with him for much of the game so I thought as long as we got lower deck seats it wouldn’t matter. Same here. A friend of mine took me to a game in 1998 and then I went with my dad to a game in 1999 to see “Hey, the Kids Can Play” White Sox. We didn’t have tickets, found a guy with his daughter who had tickets and my dad and I ended up three rows behind the plate to see the Sox play against the Royals a day or two after the opener. Thanks! What great memories!
  22. Like the draft odds really matter😂
