  1. Seems reasonable, but the way i see it is if an illegal immigrant can prove he can contribute economically give him a green card. I don't mean some guy making 10K who's sending half back to his family, but there's plenty of illegal immigrants who make a decent income and pay their taxes. I don't see why we should alienate them; give them a big fine and a chance at legal citizenship.
  2. QUOTE(SHAFTR @ Dec 4, 2005 -> 10:31 PM) I don't know. I like what they got in exchange for Beckett, Delgado & Lo Duca. I think the Castillo trade is the only move where they didn't get as much as they could have. I thought Travis Bowyer was supposed to have some real nasty stuff. The Marlins are looking at him as this years closer, no?
  3. Gaby Hernandez is a pretty damn good prospect, hell if i had to chose between him or Lo Duca, it's not even close. Give me Gaby by a mile.
  4. QUOTE(MarlinFan84 @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) What are the chances that we could pry one of them away? Slim and none, IF the White Sox were to trade for Pierre i would imagine Ryan Sweeney or Jerry Owens (along with a pitching prospect) would be used as trade bait.
  5. I don't really understand how this can be a positive trade? Thome had a no-trade clause and was apparently only willing to accept a trade to the White Sox and Indians, the Tribe didn't want him, so effectively the White Sox were the only team in the running for Thome. It seems to me if Kenny Williams had waited for a few more months the Phillies would have been more desperate and the Sox wouldn't have to part with two top-tier prospects. I see this trade as a lack of patience from Willimas that cost him more than would have been necessary to acquire Thome.
  6. 2003: .872 OPS 2004: .855 OPS 2005: .749 OPS Also, his career pre and post all-star break numbers: Pre-All Star: .294/.356/.506/.862 Post-All Star: .248/.314/.426/.740 He's been declining for the past three years and he get's worse as the season goes on. His career September OPS is a pathetic .688. At this point he's no better than Crede and he'd come at a high cost.
  7. I guess he just pulled that last one out of his ass...
  8. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 09:11 PM) I'm telling you - THAT f***ing Rowand play is the whole damn series. I yelled f*** so loud the whole damn neighborhood heard me when that happened. Son of a b**** I know that play was it. We play SO much different when up 2-0 as compared to the 1-0 at the time. And we WOULD have scored that second run. Yeah, when Rowand got thrown out i just had a feeling that was our last best chance at a run...
  9. I'm willing to bet anything Frank Thomas will be back next season for something like $4-5M guaranteed (plus $3M in incentives). If the Sox don't give him a contract he'll pick up his option, so they'll probably be willing to give him a $4-5M, then just let him walk for $3.5M.
  10. ERA over 6.00 in AAA for Josh, he'll probably be hammered.

    102

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 11:42 PM) It's just some numbers on a gun, which are notoriously inaccurate. He did allow a double on the play. Well both the WGN gun and the gun at SafeCo had him at 102. I doubt it was really 102, but that's still f***en fast.
  12. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 09:50 PM) Torres takes no hitter into the ninth for Kanny. Too bad the first guy he see's in the 9th is a solo HR. Still a great outing thought.
  13. You do realize that Cleveland had the lowest bullpen ERA in all of baseball and their starters are slightly above average. They might not have great pitching, but it certainly doesn't "stink".
  14. QUOTE(uncle_sanchez @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 05:29 PM) Hey I ve seen this kid play all his life.. (Hense the name.) he has surprised even those who expected him to be where he is now.. I ll make a prediction that by 2007 he will be taking a trip to Southside Chitown in september or so. java script:emoticon(':gosox1:') smilie Not saying he can't do it, but if he's even in AA by 2007 i'd call it good progress.
  15. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 09:53 PM) Mine's broken. I can't read anything after the 'more' link. Same here.
  16. Remember they only announce paid attendance, there could have been 40K, but only 37K paid.
  17. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 04:01 PM) Shhhhhh, the Red Sox might hear you Let them hit the panic button because the Yanks are on their heels. The white sox would probably fare better vs. Burnett than Arroyo anyway. Most teams have figured out all you need to do against Arroyo is stack the lineup with lefties. The man has a OPS agianst around .850 vs. lefties.
  18. QUOTE(Jake @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 10:07 PM) Whose team is the best in the bigs? That plays with arguably the best division in the bigs? That has to make you more deserving, helping your team to the best record in the bigs. Hey, i'd much rather see a White Sox representing the best record in baseball, but it's an All-Star game, not an MVP award. Right now Halladay has the best stats and even thought his contributions might not be as valuable as Garland or Buehrle, they are the most impressive at this point.
  19. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 10:01 PM) Thank you very much. Run support: Jon Garland: 7.11 Mark Buehrle: 4.00 Roy Halladay: 3.71 A main factor in pitchers picking up wins is runs is run support, thus making Halladay's 10 wins ever more impressive.
  20. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 09:53 PM) Why? Halladay 10-4, 2.53 ERA, 11 QS, 0.95 WHIP Buehrle 8-1, 2.67 ERA, 11 QS, 1.05 WHIP Garland 12-2, 3.40 ERA, 10 QS, 1.09 WHIP and seeing as Halladay also has more IP and Ks i'd say he's more worthy. BTW, Kenny Rogers should get some consideration too.
  21. Even though it'd be nice to see a White Sox start the AS game again, at this point i think Roy Halladay is most deserving.
  22. No it's not a near sellout, but if you plan on sitting together you'll probably end up somewhere high in the UD. Lower deck usually has 4-5 empty seats together tops on Monday's.
  23. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 08:27 PM) No hints. All I'll say is you'll be happy and it's not Ulacia. Is it Dennis Ulacia?
  24. Since late '95, early '96, which would put be at about 8-9 years old.
  25. A base stealer is only effective if his success rate it above 75%. Scotty has so far been around 80% for his career, so he can be classified as a productive base stealer. If Scotty can keep his OBP above .350 and keep the steal rate above 75% he's an elite leadoff man. IF the steal rate falls below 75% he's better off just staying at first. These numbers don't however take into account the affect a productive base stealer has on a pitcher. here some info about SB effectiveness: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=2607
