  1. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 14, 2014 -> 09:29 PM) Well, that's a thought. I never want to see him start for the Sox again. Pitchers that throw 95+ and strike out a batter an inning don't grow on trees. If he can focus on making one offspeed pitch good, he'll be serviceable for sure.
  2. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 14, 2014 -> 09:20 PM) Rienzo blows. He really does. Stick him in the pen with two pitches and he'll be fine.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 12, 2014 -> 03:00 PM) Still not convinced we're going to score here with Nieto and Danks coming up. Crosses fingers. Please, no DP ball or strikeout. Wild pitch offense.
  4. Paulino will be out of the starting rotation by mid-May at this rate.
  5. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Apr 12, 2014 -> 01:22 PM) Send Paulino to AAA.....bring up Surkamp One step closer to an all lefty rotation. Rienzo is probably #1 on the call-up list, though.
  6. Nicely times double play. Quick enough inning where Sale probably starts the 9th now.
  7. Still think Lindstrom starts the 9th if it's 1-0 after 8. Should be...entertaining.
  8. Sale probably has too many pitches so far to throw a CG.
  9. I prefer the CF view for Courtney's HR last night: http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?con...99&sid=milb His swing is a lot quieter this year.
  10. QUOTE (Whitey @ Jan 18, 2014 -> 11:27 AM) The Sox stadium is almost in Chinatown (big Asian population, including Japanese). I wonder if that could that help put the Sox over the Cubs if the dollars are equal... I would sincerely doubt that after being paid $100M+ that a player would live in Chinatown.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 2, 2013 -> 08:04 PM) So the answer is to hurt their team next year? Yeah, I'm not getting this unless there is a follow up move to throw loads of cash at a free agent. Terrible return.
  12. I didn't know SoxTalk had a bunch of budding CFOs! This is a really productive thread with all of the terrible personal finance analogies and the pointless arguing about spending an arbitrary amount of money. Perhaps it would be best if everyone stopped being experts in finance and talked about the original point of the thread.
  13. Good for Hawkins for closing out the year strong. Probably his best game of the year.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 2, 2013 -> 08:13 AM) 27 wallks, 6 strikeouts in Rookie, low A and AA this season in 15 IP. Mayne sign him to a minor league contract once released, but I certainly wouldn't trade for him, unless they wanted Jared Mitchell. Would be down for that. Trying him as a starter completely screwed up his confidence and mechanics. Since he has a track record of success at the big league level, he should be in high demand.
