  1. What a sack of s%*#.

It’s interesting contrasting Reinsdorf with the sports I follow these days (German soccer, because 1) lived there and 2) lol Chicago sports is a tire fire). It’s clear that Reinsdorf could give a s%*# about the fans and their connection to the team. There is a very clear difference between “the club belongs to the fans” and “this is an asset I’m trying to maximize the value for.” It’s very clear where Reinsdorf aligns, and we’ll all be better off when he’s dead. Good riddance.

Do you really need this explained?

The polio vaccine effectively rid the world of the virus when mass distribution occurred. Polio was a virus that affected the youth and the healthy.

When mass distribution of the COVID vaccine occurred, we see some countries seeing their highest case rates  of COVID since the start of all this. COVID is a virus that very rarely affects the youth, the healthy, etc. Even when a country surpasses 50%, 2/3 or 75% vaccination rate, cases are skyrocketing to all time highs. This is true with different countries, in different regions, in different climates and with different vaccines (ex. UK, Israel, Malaysia). Look back in this thread when Israel's rollout was happening. I am sure there are posts from StrangeSox and others pointing to Israel as the blueprint for vaccine rollout. Then when the same country's cases skyrocket to all time highs the same people aren't as interested in the vaccine-related developments in Israel or other countries with vaccination rates and high cases rates. They just move the goalposts All vaccines are not created equally. Weak vaccines create mutations of viruses. There was never a delta variant of the polio virus because Salk's polio virus was one of the most incredible scientific creations of all time and effectively eradicated the virus from the earth.

I never ceased to be amazed by how great of a job you do of showing your ass when you post.

So many trust issues regarding this virus and vax. Administer it the right way, medical people. Thank you in advance.

Wait until you hear about the blood clot risk in birth control pills, you're gonna lose it!

There are not trust issues with the mRNA vaccines unless you're someone who conflates freedom and liberty with maximal self interest.

Because Fangraphs fWAR statistics determines everything in life.

You forgot to mention how difficult it is to have a super high fWAR at 1B.

For example, Mancini and Abreu are 8th and 9th at 1B in all of MLB at the position but only have 1.7 fWARs.

Wow, that’s really not that impressive, a difference of just 2.1.

Lo and behold, Jose Abreu is just 70th out of 137, barely an average qualified player.

    Ron was actually right?

I've always found fWAR bizarre for 1B, but you can still try and get Hosmer's value by looking at 1) his relative WAR performance or 2) ignoring defensive metrics and focusing on something like wRC+ or wOBA. In both scenarios Hosmer is really, really bad. Given his contract he's arguably one of the worst players in all of baseball.

We talking a movie. What is different about his story than countless others in his situation. That is the movie  question

He didn’t play professional baseball for three years and blew out his Achilles twice. This isn’t a garden variety season ending injury story.

Here's the deal with Montgomery.  If Indiana doesn't fire their basketball coach he's not signing to play baseball.  He's going to Indiana to be a basketball player and part time baseball player.

There's a very important question teams ask about a possibe draft picks desire to play baseball: A) Does he like it B) Does he love it C) Does he live it.

I would have to answer Montgomery likes it and that's a huge red flag for a guy I'm about to give $3M. I think it will be a blessing if someone takes him before the Sox.  The kid loves basketball.

And he would have never played for IU. At best he would have been a walk-on, so he can love basketball all he wants but he’ll never get paid $3M to play it.
