  1. QUOTE(whitesox91403 @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 07:51 PM) Not much into ROH like some others here. I just have recently done a little readin on the promotion. What was the basis behind their "Pure Champion" and why was it merged with The Heavyweight title? I haven't been following it from the beginning, but the Pure Title had a set of rules that went along with it... number of rope breaks, can change hands via countout, etc. My understanding is that originally it was going to be a belt on the same level as the World Title, but never got there. Most people I talk to blame that on booking more so than the wrestlers themselves. It started to pick up steam once Nigel won it. He pretty much defined the title. The merger was done because they were pretty much running out of ideas for it, or so the story goes. If they ever put another title in play, it should be stated from the beginning that it's below the World belt.
  2. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 05:36 PM) Davey Richards vs Erick Stevens Sara Del Ray vs Daizee Haze Kevin Steen and El Generico vs Irish Airborne vs Jimmy Rave and Adam Pearce vs Pelle Primeau and Mitch Franklin in a tag scramble match Almost positive these three are all DVD only. The PPV will be the other matches you listed plus a few in-ring segments. 2 hour run time.
  3. So last night's Dragon/Nigel match will be part of the 2nd ROH PPV, which means the Dragon/KENTA match in a few weeks here will be DVD only. Pretty interesting way to do it, but the match last night was a supposedly a MOTY candidate. And in completely unsurprising news, the Briscoes were involved in another fantastic match, this time with the KOW. The schedule for the 1st PPV is here: http://www.indemand.com/viewProductShowtim...mp;prodId=65878
  4. Briscoes vs. Shelley/Sabin from "Good Times Great Memories" will be up there on a lot of people's lists once the DVD comes out in the next week or so.
  5. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ May 27, 2007 -> 09:16 AM) Great interview with Lance Storm up at Wrestlecrap.com in their WrestleCrap Radio section. Still waiting for my wrestling orders. I picked up a CM Punk shirt, a memorial Eddie shirt, a Kennedy shirt and the Rise and Fall of ECW documentary DVD. From ROH, I got the Resilience shirt because it looks like a great shirt -- and I can wear it normally without people thinking that it may be a wrestling shirt. Anybody know if it is just general admission that is available for the June 23 ROH show? The card looks pretty good so far -- AmDrag v. KENTA, Briscoes v. Steen/Generico and Hero/Nigel. Looks like they still have 7th row and back available online.
  6. Nigel vs. Hero added to Chicago Ridge and good chance at Marifuji vs. Morishima since they're teamed together the night before and Shima will probably try eating him before the end of the match
  7. Happy Birthday to the Best Wrestler in the World!
  8. Anyone thinking of going to ROH in a few weeks? I've got an extra if anyone is interested.
  9. tickets for ROH on 6/23 are 20% off at rohwrestling.com in case anyone's interested the GA seats there are very good for the price
  10. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ May 20, 2007 -> 07:16 PM) Danielson > HBK. FACT. god I cannot wait until Kenta/Dragon 2 in a few weeks
  11. have the new SD champ cleanly job on Raw! way to go WWE
  12. QUOTE(longshot7 @ May 14, 2007 -> 04:40 PM) Hey, don't SPOIL the ROH Pay-Per-View!!! It doesn't air until July 1 and a lot of us are avoiding spoilers. I'm looking forward to it- should be a hell of a lot better htan last night's TNA Sacrifice PPV - which was better than average, and had a lot of good wrestling, but some stupid endings. The Texas Death Match was MOTN and both guys were bleeding buckets of blood at the end. Good stuff. Mods, can you delete the spoiler post above? Dude, my post is in regards to Hartford on Friday and has nothing to do with the PPV.
  13. So Danielson returned and wrestled 3 matches last night...made Hagadorn tap and then Pearce tap and was part of the 6 man vs. the NRC. I've still got my fingers crossed for KENTAFuji vs. Briscoes tonight at the PPV taping. Gabe probably doesn't want to use that now...but no better way than to hook in non-ROH watchers.
  14. QUOTE(longshot7 @ May 9, 2007 -> 01:33 PM) OTOH, the Punk/CorVon match was good. Punk sold like crazy and it made CorVon look good. Elijah interferes and CorVon hits The Pounce. They announced Punk/Burke for Judgment Day. The reviews of the Punk/Burke matches from house shows have been very, very good.
  15. QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ May 8, 2007 -> 02:11 PM) I agree/disagree on some of these...Deuce & Domino just don't do it for me, maybe it's the gimmick. For me it's the gimmick and the fact that they were the one's to take the belts from Spanky and London. They held the belts for a year or so and lose them to those two, on a pre-taped show... weak.
  16. QUOTE(longshot7 @ May 7, 2007 -> 01:17 PM) They don't. They need work, but they're no Matt Hardy. Also, if they suck, give them a manager. It makes a difference. See Jim Mitchell in TNA. ! I was hoping for a long time they'd get paired with Sweeney & Hero... that was before Rocky came back. I should give Roddy some credit, he's actually been MUCH better as a heel.
  17. Aries will be annoucing what his "future in wrestling holds" on Monday at austinaries.com should be interesting...
  18. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ May 6, 2007 -> 08:02 PM) As talented as he is, I just can't get behind wrestlers named Roderick or Davey. Their in-ring stuff is good but still...Roderick and Davey doesn't strike fear into opponents. Don't forget they both suck with the mic, that doesn't help their fear striking abilities.
  19. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ May 6, 2007 -> 01:29 PM) Kinda funny how TNA is demanding Austin Aries back but not Roddy. He hasn't been under contract with them since last summer. When they renewed Aries, they didn't renew Strong or he didn't want to renew... depending on who you believe.
  20. QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ May 3, 2007 -> 11:54 PM) As many predicted, TNA has pulled all of their talent from ROH. It's not going to happen overnight, but I really hope in the near future TNA is challenged for their default #2 promotion in the US rank. Excluding the WWE and now TNA, all the top promotions in the World share talent and it works really well. The ROH Champ is from NOAH, the former tag champs were from Dragon Gate. Sydal and The Briscoes have held titles in DG in the last year. The Morishima/SHINGO match last week put over both guys and both NOAH and DG. The ROH PPVs are a step in the right direction. If you can get the casual WWE/TNA fan who's never seen ROH to sit down and watch Morishima or KENTA or Dragon or The Briscoes, they'll probably watch again. It'd probably be a stretch but if Gabe puts either Morshima/Dragon or KENTAFuji/Briscoes on the first PPV it'll kill. If nothing else, it sounds like the second PPV will have Dragon/KENTA II, so that works. TNA continues to have one of the best talent rosters around, but can't pull their head out of their asses and utilize it. It amazes me. I'm sure they'll get RVD soon enough and drop the ball with that one as well.
  21. QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 10:11 PM) They're too busy pitting CM Punk against the New Breed... anyway, to the ROH fanatics out there, i'm thinking about goin to the show on 6/23...i've seen the Dedicated and Battle of the Icons shows from the beginning of the year, so is there any show or matches that are a must see? Or anything else I should know ROH-wise? It's already been said, but be sure to watch AmDrag/KENTA 1; also FYF Philly was very good, creation of NRC and you get an amazing Briscoes vs. Steen/Generico. Also, once it hits DVD (probably just before the June show) check out this past Saturday's show. It has Morishima's best match in ROH so far and the awesomeness of The Briscoes/The MCMG.
  22. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 11:32 PM) ROH 4.28 Chicago. 8) Current Match: ROH Tag Team Titles. The Briscoes defeat The Motor City Machine Guns. This was the best match I have ever seen live. Although I haven't seen everything this year yet, it's my MOTY so far. I'm 100% The Briscoes are the best team in the world and Shelley/Sabin were unbelieve. If TNA doesn't use them as a team they are nuts.
  23. My ticket source didn't make the drive from last night's show in OH, afraid that he'd get stuck in Chicago til Monday... which I don't blame him for, but needless to say I'm missing ROH tonight
  24. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Feb 24, 2007 -> 06:04 PM) That's a joke. The Wolves are filled with scrubs who can't crack an NHL roster... the Blackhawks would beat them at a man disadvantage for an entire game handily... I'm not saying the Hawks are good, they aren't... but the Wolves are AHL for a reason, and those scrubs suck huge balls combared to NHLers, even the worst of them. Now I'm not going to disagree that any NHL team would beat any AHL team, but to say that the Wolves are full of 'scrubs who suck huge balls' is a bit extreme. The Wolves have handful of young talent that will play the majority of their career in the NHL. They're not going to produce on a top line, but they'll certainly 'crack' a NHL roster. Atlanta is finally starting to figure the whole affiliation game out. Would you say the same thing about Norfolk? A few of those 'scrub' Admirals are going to be playing in the UC for awhile.
