  1. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Feb 17, 2007 -> 10:29 PM) f***ing hell. Homicide can't even get through 4 shows with the strap. Damn you TNA. Takeshi Morishima wins the ROH World Title tonight. We have a new ROH World Champ. Most don't think last night was TNA-related. Though he'll probably get the Daniels/AJ/KI/Joe treatment soon enough, for now it looks like he'll be taking Joe's spot as the ROH crusader against NOAH. Cide is planning on being a regular for awhile, so odds are he'll get a shot at Morishima (or KENTA for that matter) later this spring or summer and re-gain the strap. Overall, Gabe certainly has shaken things up pretty quickly.
  2. Interesting night in NY for ROH last night... Roddy and Davey destroy Aries; Aries and Evans back together; Joe chokes out Morishima. The reaction from people there was that it was a great show and a fantastic way to start off the Five Year Festival.
  3. QUOTE(T R U @ Feb 16, 2007 -> 04:10 PM) I cant believe how any of you like TNA, I have tried to watch it and its just lame. I guess I have a hard time getting into the recycled WWE guys.. and then the original guys they have just dont impress me at all (I do like AJ Styles though, wish WWE could get him.) One of they're major issues, one which Russo isn't helping at all, is that with only an hour on tv they're giving the wrong people air time. I'm sure there are still a lot of people who want to see Sting, Steiner, etc., but they're missing soooo much talent on their roster. Going 2 hours with Impact will give them a chance to showcase the better wrestlers on their roster... hopefully. It's been pretty evident that given enough time during PPV, most of the roster is capable of putting on fantastic matches.
  4. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Feb 2, 2007 -> 06:42 PM) I can't wait to see Samoa Joe's last ROH appearance in Chicago. It is going to be so awesome. They could stick him against Sugarfoot and I'd be glad to see him one more time in ROH... but the fact that it's him & 'Cide vs. MORISHIMA!!! & Nigel is amazing.
  5. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 07:53 PM) Which show had BJ Whitmer powerbomb Jimmy Jacobs into the audience off the top rope? I'm kind of interested in seeing that one on DVD. Also, what shows would you rate as a top 5 of all ROH shows? The powerbomb is from 'In Your Face' in June. I don't recall the rest of that show being all that great. Solid for sure, but towards the bottom of the 06 shows. I enjoyed the KENTA/Joe/Dragon main event, but was a little disappointed in it. Better Than Our Best and SuperCard of Honor in Chicago, Death Before Dishonor 4, Unified and GBHV Night 2 would be my top 5 from this year. Of all time would take a lot of thinking.
  6. Edit: It was a pic of 'Cide with the belt, with Joe to his left and Punk to his right... but it's been removed, probably because of Punk.
  7. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 06:30 PM) I am pretty sure that in CHIKARA, Hero turned heel on him and left him. That's what I was getting at, a great one on one match. Although, Gabe has stayed strong when it comes to the idea that other promotions story lines mean nothing to ROH.
  8. I'm also looking forward to seeing what Hero's 'send off' is for Claudio. Hopefully it's the two of them tearing the house down.
  9. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Dec 11, 2006 -> 02:36 PM) With Danielson needing surgery possibly for his shoulder, I don't know how many more days he can work on it taking some serious bumps for ROH, other indies, NOAH etc. without having to eventually drop the strap. Good point. I had completely forgotten about the surgery. Okay, 'Cide's definitely the next World Champ. As much as I enjoy Daniels/Sydal, I really hope the Briscoes take the straps and destroy everyone for most of next year.
  10. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Dec 10, 2006 -> 02:55 PM) Looks like we got a Pro Wrestling NOAH vs ROH feud building. At night 2, Joe called out NOAH and Nigel McGuinness came out saying that if he had a problem with NOAH, he had a problem with Nigel. And speaking of NOAH, we got a new GHC champ -- Misawa. Who's excited that Homicide is likely to be the new ROH champ at Final Battle? I'm really starting to think that Danielson walks out of Final Battle as Champ. I know Cide has his "I'm leaving ROH if I don't win a belt", but I think he will disappear for awhile and return with Low Ki.
  11. I was ready to shoot the guy behind me that chanted "F TNA" every chance he got. He's also the one who was chanting Homocide before Cide's match. I really wish the Briscoe's match would have gone longer. I've seen them vs. IA before and another 5 mins would have been great. How awesome was Jimmy Jacob's spear on Daizee?
  12. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Dec 9, 2006 -> 02:56 AM) The ROH show was fantastic. 4 hours of quality entertainment. They put on a great show. I was so tired by the time I got home. There was sooooooo much going on throughout the show. They did a great job with the storylines. I'm never going to get enough of any match involving any combo of Aries/Strong/Sydal/Daniels. Matt Sydal and Davey Richards are adding some great personality to their characters and are going to be huge in 2007. And Brian Danielson is the best heel champion ever. He couldn't have put on a better heel performance in the cage.
  13. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 12:26 AM) Decided that I'm going to the 12/8 ROH show in Chicago Ridge. Should be a pretty entertaining time. I'll be there Friday for sure, but haven't decided on Saturday yet. Friday's card shaped up pretty nicely.

    MVP

    QUOTE(mr_genius @ Nov 23, 2006 -> 02:25 PM) some of you guys think Jeter should have been MVP!???? wtf I know a lot of people here aren't big on stats, but as was already posted: QUOTE(RME JICO @ Nov 21, 2006 -> 02:23 PM) Winshares Jeter - 33 Morneau - 27 VORP Jeter - 80.5 Morneau - 52.0 Morneau should have been behind Mauer and Santana. Since I can't watch every single game of every single team I've have to rely at least partly on the stats, which are pretty cut and dry.
  15. QUOTE(The Critic @ Nov 22, 2006 -> 07:02 AM) I'm sorry, I know the Joe Tribe is behind him all the way, but I just don't see anything special in him. He's not terrible, I just find him ordinary. Like a bloated, taller Scott Norton. You're entitled to your opinion, but I'm now 99.9% sure you haven't seen the core of Joe's work.
  16. Here's Cowley on WFAN with Mike and Maddog earlier today. They pretty much destroy him. http://www.wfan.com/episode_download.php?c...ontentId=173121 QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Nov 21, 2006 -> 11:12 PM) Anyone know how MVP points are distributed among first place, second place, third place votes? Cowley's shunning of Jeter may have been the difference. 14pts for 1st 9 for 2nd 8 for 3rd 7 for 4th 6 for 5th 5 for 6th 4 for 7th 3 for 8th 2 for 9th 1 for 10th
  17. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Nov 21, 2006 -> 05:03 PM) Joe Cowley voted Jeter 6th. Ridiculous. good article from ESPN:
  18. QUOTE(The Critic @ Nov 21, 2006 -> 03:31 PM) RAW was absolute trash last night. Nothing whatsoever worth watching over the full 2 hours. I find myself looking forward to Thursdays far more than Mondays or Fridays lately. Nitro/Hardy even?
  19. Wow. He was the 3rd most valuable player on his own team. EDIT: which i guess rotoworld thinks too
  20. Just an FYI, GA tickets for ROH in Chicago Ridge on both Dec. 8 and 9 are only $10 at rohwrestling.com between now and 11 AM on Thursday. Cards so far: Dec. 8th: ROH World Title Steel Cage Match Bryan Danielson defends vs. Samoa Joe Grudge Match Colt Cabana vs. Jimmy Jacobs w/ Lacey Dragon Gate Rules Austin Aries & Roderick Strong vs. Matt Sydal & Shingo Special Challenge Match Homicide vs. Brent Albright Dec. 9th: Gut Check Rematch Austin Aries & Roderick Strong vs. Christopher Daniels & Matt Sydal Six Man Captain's Match Bryan Danielson, Jimmy Rave, & Jimmy Jacobs vs. Delirious & ??? & ??? Stipulations TBA Homicide vs. Adam Pearce Grudge Match # 1 (if Joe wins the World Title on 12/8 he will put the belt on the line) Samoa Joe vs. Mark Briscoe Grudge Match # 2 Jay Briscoe vs. Davey Richards The bolded matches on each night are worth the $10 alone. The GA seats are still very good. I encourge everyone to go to at least one night. Seeing ROH live will make you understand why many of the 'smarks' can't stand WWE right now and why Joe is far from overrated.
  21. QUOTE(The Critic @ Nov 17, 2006 -> 06:29 PM) And I am not buying that slob with the tit-high workout shorts being a "killer", either. i think you forgot the green

    PS3

    If you don't have a preorder in and you want one on the release day you should probably plan on getting in line in a few hours. The ridiculously small amount of units available in the U.S. this weekend will be gone in a heartbeat. Also, there are some pretty strong rumors going around that Fry's will only be selling the PS3 in a bundle. If you want one you'll also have to buy 8 games. They aren't publicizing it now, but associates had been sharing the info earlier this week.
  23. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Oct 19, 2006 -> 01:24 PM) Enough WWE talk.....anyone on here an ROH fan? I'm going to be on vacation next weekend and am missing my first Chicago show in awhile... QUOTE(Brian @ Oct 19, 2006 -> 02:49 PM) Isn't it pretty much the TNA undercard roster? Not at all. AJ is done with ROH now, but Joe and Homicide are on almost every show and Daniels wrestles all the time. There are a lot of guys on ROH's roster that wrestle from time to time in TNA, mainly X-Division stuff. Low Ki (Senshi now) was huge in ROH. There are plenty of guys in ROH that would wrestle circles around anayone on either the WWE or TNA's rosters... Danielson, Aries, Strong, Nigel...
  24. QUOTE(Brian @ Oct 7, 2006 -> 02:46 PM) I don't think it starts til this MOnday wow, i swear, i can read
