  1. QUOTE (kane0730 @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 12:36 PM) Is Joe West anywhere near Boston? If so, he better jam that cowboy hat down tight on his large noggin.
  2. The hurricane is forecasted to be off the Mass. coast Friday night and should be long gone by Saturday. I would bet tomorrow's game is postponed, but Saturday should be fine.
  3. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 08:06 AM) Why? Earl is forecasted to be right off the New England coast Friday night.
  4. On SportsCenter last night, they actually said Paulie should be considered for the AL MVP because of clutch homeruns like yesterday's.
  5. I would think he'll be back with a 2 year deal worth around $8 million a year. He could probably play a good 1st base for at least another season, then he could be a good DH. In my opinion, the only way the Sox don't try hard to re-sign him is if they somehow acquire Fielder or Gonzalez. And with Fielder, there would almost have to be a extension.
  6. I would assume tomorrow's game in Boston will be postponed. But I haven't seen anything yet.
  7. Eh, I wouldn't say Ozzie is keeping the Sox in the race. It's the players, especially Konerko, Rios, Jackson, Sale, and even Pierre now. And the lack of a bullpen has been a recent development. Remember that the bullpen was quite good for a while. I think the wear on the guys is finally showing.
  8. I'd like to see Paulie back here next year, and for a few years for that matter. Looking at his HR numbers, I would think he would need about 5 more years for 500 HRs. I wonder if he'd make it. I would think it would be possible, especially if he transitioned to a DH.
  9. QUOTE (southsidepride15 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 01:46 PM) Not sure...but if he comes to ST "in the best shape of his life" and we continue to have 4+ guys who's "versatility can't be replaced" then it won't matter if we only get 100 games out of him. I'd rather him hit .240 with the same power numbers as Quentin so we could at least have someone in right who looks like he's ever seen a fly ball. Agree. His defense is leaps and bounds above Q's.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 01:45 PM) When's the last time a pennant contender relied on two relievers with as little experience pitching in the minors as Santos and Sale? September 1st, 2010.
  11. What's the score, 6-4? Save opportunity for Sale!
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 01:44 PM) I'm just worried about September for now. Carlos looks lost at the plate and on the field. He's defintely lost in the field. I cringe every time a ball heads his way.
  13. QUOTE (southsidepride15 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 01:42 PM) I agree. CQ being the man was a f#@$% pipe dream. We need to move on at least put someone out there with the fielding capability of a freshman in HS. How much playing time would Jones be good for? I'd take him over Q next year, but I'm not sure he could play more than 100 games.
  14. So, Manny being on deck results in two 3-run bombs. Maybe the Sox should have just hired some big guy with dreads to stand around near the on deck circle. Could have saved a few bucks.
  15. Maybe Ozzie will roll Kotsay out to the mound, you know, just to get him some work.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 01:19 PM) Acta managing like this is the World Series. Well, after Ozzie called him out for not deserving another major league managing job, I'm sure he enjoys beating us just a little bit more. I didn't know that. Ozzie needs to keep his damn mouth shut.
  17. I'm glad I can't actually watch this game. Sounds like I would have thrown something by now.
  18. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 10:23 AM) Or just keep Kotsay. Stop it.
  19. I'd like to see Konerko back, and I think a contract along the lines of 2/$14 million would be fine. In my opinion, he is a pretty good first baseman, albeit with limited range. But I'll take his glove along with his bat for $7 or $8 million a year. As far as Manny goes, I wouldn't even hazard to say whether or not to sign him for next year. Let's see him hit this month and then discuss it. However, I agree with someone else's post that any contract for Manny would have to be heavily incentive-laden. He needs motivation to play hard. If he's signed for 2 years $20 million, he's not going to be overly motivated.
  20. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 09:04 AM) All right place your bets place your bets place yours bets: Mannys first AB with the White Sox, Hit, Walk, or Out? Prop Bet: Does Mannys first AB produce an RBI? First AB will be a walk. No RBI. Overall today, though...1-3, BB, 2B, RBI
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 10:43 PM) Good. I'm glad we won't have to hear anyone say that, because it doesn't matter now. We won. Now Manny is rested for the day game. Oz made the right call, again. Ozzie didn't make a great call in sitting Manny. Yes, we won the game, but we won because AJ hit a 3-run homerun. Kotsay (who Manny would have been playing in place of) had nothing to do with the 3 runs that led to the Sox win. I'm not saying Manny would have created any more runs, but Kotsay certainly didn't. As far as Ozzie goes, you can keep defending him and his sometimes idiotic decisions. Others on this board will call out Ozzie when he makes a bad decision. He's made plenty of bad decisions this year, and not playing Manny was another one...at least in my mind. So, let's agree to disagree.
  22. QUOTE (hi8is @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 08:56 PM) Jake Peavy, the guy who will be our number 2 starter in 2011. Jackson, Peavy, Danks, Floyd, M56 Mercy!! Mercy is right. Jackson is a stud. Hopefully Peavy comes back healthy and Danks signs an extension.
