  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 01:19 PM) Acta managing like this is the World Series. Well, after Ozzie called him out for not deserving another major league managing job, I'm sure he enjoys beating us just a little bit more. I didn't know that. Ozzie needs to keep his damn mouth shut.
  2. I'm glad I can't actually watch this game. Sounds like I would have thrown something by now.
  3. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 10:23 AM) Or just keep Kotsay. Stop it.
  4. I'd like to see Konerko back, and I think a contract along the lines of 2/$14 million would be fine. In my opinion, he is a pretty good first baseman, albeit with limited range. But I'll take his glove along with his bat for $7 or $8 million a year. As far as Manny goes, I wouldn't even hazard to say whether or not to sign him for next year. Let's see him hit this month and then discuss it. However, I agree with someone else's post that any contract for Manny would have to be heavily incentive-laden. He needs motivation to play hard. If he's signed for 2 years $20 million, he's not going to be overly motivated.
  5. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 09:04 AM) All right place your bets place your bets place yours bets: Mannys first AB with the White Sox, Hit, Walk, or Out? Prop Bet: Does Mannys first AB produce an RBI? First AB will be a walk. No RBI. Overall today, though...1-3, BB, 2B, RBI
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 10:43 PM) Good. I'm glad we won't have to hear anyone say that, because it doesn't matter now. We won. Now Manny is rested for the day game. Oz made the right call, again. Ozzie didn't make a great call in sitting Manny. Yes, we won the game, but we won because AJ hit a 3-run homerun. Kotsay (who Manny would have been playing in place of) had nothing to do with the 3 runs that led to the Sox win. I'm not saying Manny would have created any more runs, but Kotsay certainly didn't. As far as Ozzie goes, you can keep defending him and his sometimes idiotic decisions. Others on this board will call out Ozzie when he makes a bad decision. He's made plenty of bad decisions this year, and not playing Manny was another one...at least in my mind. So, let's agree to disagree.
  7. QUOTE (hi8is @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 08:56 PM) Jake Peavy, the guy who will be our number 2 starter in 2011. Jackson, Peavy, Danks, Floyd, M56 Mercy!! Mercy is right. Jackson is a stud. Hopefully Peavy comes back healthy and Danks signs an extension.
  8. Do you think Manny on deck scared the pitcher a bit? He threw a hanger to AJ.
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 08:52 PM) Ladies and Gentlemen, Edwin f***ING Jackson. EFJ
  10. Holy cow, Edwin Jackson! What did Coop do to him?
  11. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 04:42 PM) Not if we lose a close game where Kotsay leaves 3 or 4 guys on base. Man, now I'm pissed again!
  12. We'll probably never know the real story. It could be all Manny, all Ozzie, or them combined. Regardless, we're all frustrated, but if he starts playing tomorrow and plays well, today's game will most likely be forgotten.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 04:36 PM) Hmmm. Manny did not give the right answer. Would love to know what Manny said and how he said it. Good for Oz making his decision based on the response. I wonder if Manny was being Manny with his response. More than likely, Manny said something that led Ozzie to believe he was tired or something of the sort. I hope he at least pinch hits tonight...
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 04:13 PM) But that flight was $57 more than the Southwest flight they made him take. And they had to use that $57 to hire the barber.
  15. QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 03:11 PM) Ozzie's just f***ing with Kenny now, cause he knows Jerry will never fire him. He wants to stick with that rotating DH to the bitter end... And if that happens, Ozzie and KW should be fired. Ozzie for acting like a child and KW for not acting like a GM.
  16. I'm baffled. I can't imagine Manny saying he doesn't want to start because he traveled this morning. I can imagine, however, Ozzie being Ozzie and playing Kotsay over him. Regardless of who's pitching for the Indians, Manny is the better choice to bat DH. When you have Manny, you don't worry about the lefty vs. righty s***.
  17. If Manny doesn't at least come into the game late, there's something wrong with Ozzie.
  18. The deadline for the waiver trade period is tonight at 11 PM. Do the Sox make a last minute move for a bullpen arm?
  19. I like WGN's commerical saying it was time for the Sox to "Manny Up".
  20. QUOTE (spiderman @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 06:36 AM) Who's going away from the roster? Kotsay is making comments like he's secure, and Lillibridge is still needed (although they could play Teahan at 2B). Peavy was placed on the 60-day DL, so I think that opened up the necessary roster spot. As far as Kotsay, I have no problem with him sticking around and being used as he should be used: PH and occasional spot start at 1st.
  21. QUOTE (hi8is @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 07:01 PM) Wow White Sox GM Kenny Williams told reporters that he didn't claim Brian Fuentes because his team doesn't need another left-handed reliever at this point. Was that before Threets got hurt?
  22. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 10:03 AM) Great. Now I need to go run to the bathroom here at work to clean up my soiled pants. You should really bring a few extra pairs. Especially around trade deadlines.
  23. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 10:04 AM) Actually, the article is pretty good. It actually is. And most of us have said the same thing: Manny may not get the Sox to the playoffs, but they have to try something.
  24. Has anyone else noticed that this acquisition has gotten little attention? I'm sure if he was going to Boston or NY the press would be going nuts. Nothing would make me happier than having him come in and totally clean-up and help get the Sox to the post season.
