  1. This unbelievable turnaround seems to be just in time for the reality show...hmmm.
  2. This is not the same team from two weeks ago. They were abducted by aliens and these guys are robots.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 03:07 PM) I have no idea why he uses it. Or how about Attabatacola or whatever the hell he says for a broken bat.
  4. QUOTE (docsox24 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 03:03 PM) as exciting as this run has been, i hope kenny does not lose sight of the fact that our offense is not good enough. he is essentially getting a second chance to win this division and fix this offense. Maybe that was Ozzie's rationale for rolling out this lineup...you know to make sure KW sees another bat is needed.
  5. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 02:36 PM) b**** all you want about the lineup, but Ozzie's decision to bat Kotsay 3rd today will not be a factor if we lose. Kotsay's doing his part.
  6. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 02:36 PM) Kotsay looking pretty good in the three hole today. Don't say that too loud.
  7. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 12:24 PM) Lilli will get a big hit and make a great play in the field because that's just how this team is going right now. Everyone other than Linecatastrophe and Randy Willohs***thisguyiswarmingupinthepenwhatthef***dowedonowiams is helping, even Beckham (despite the evil thread about sending him down) is doing it in the field. Will that fit on his jersey?
  8. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 11:40 AM) Five Oh, yeah. I was thinking they lost the Tigers series, but it was the pesky Indians before that.
  9. I'd like to see Prince acquired and swinging the bat in a Sox jersey. He's going to command a ton of money, and I wonder if KW would even try to sign him if he were acquired. Maybe they could throw in a clause that guarantees him free Chicago pizza for his tenure a Sox?
  10. Oh, it'll be fine. Remember that Lillibridge has that mad power now.

    Summer Drinks

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 10:37 AM) All you Blue Moonies, do yourself a favor just once this summer and treat yourself to a Hoegarden when you see it on tap. It will likely ruin Blue Moon for you, but you'll be moving up a rung or two on the quality ladder. Hoegaarden is one of my favorites. On tap, there may not be a better beer...at least not a better wheat beer. First time I had it, they served it in a Hoegaarden glass the size of a trashcan. Fantastic stuff.
  12. NL teams or not, the Sox have now won four consecutive series and are trying to sweep a third straight. This team has got its stuff together, and it started with the pitching. If it keeps up, and Quentin earns the T back in his name, the Sox can go back to playing AL teams and beat them, too. And speaking of Quentin, RBIs are hardly meaningless. It is amazing, though, that he could end up with over 100 RBIs with an average below .240. I hope he's back, because if he is this team just gets more dangerous.
  13. I keep looking at Quentin's numbers, and I shake my head. He's hitting .220 and is on pace for well over 90 RBIs. If he could start hitting more consistently, he could have monster numbers.

    Summer Drinks

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 01:04 AM) I just got back from N.C., I must've drank at least 60 Yuenglings over that ten day span. Yuengling is one of my favorites. It's a shame you can't find it in Illinois. Whenever I'm in NC visting family, that's almost all I drink.

    Summer Drinks

Ah yes. Blue Moon and Guinness...or Black and Blue. I found that at Buffalo Wild Wings (they had a poster taunting me to try it), and it's now one of my favorites. Summer Shandy as well. Great summer beer. Extremely easy to drink.
  16. Okay, so the Sox are over .500 and within five games...on June 22. Now what is the goal for the end of the month? I would say maintain and maybe try to make up another game on the lead.
  17. Wow. This is exciting baseball. It's nice to see an offensive explosion. I think that Omar needed to play more consistently. Even though he knew coming in that he was going to be used sparingly, he seemed to have really heated up when he was playing every day. 43 years old or not, he's a great glove and his bat has been a pleasant surprise. Nothing against Teahen, but his broken finger has turned out alright. I'm starting to believe that KW will be shopping soon. I would like to see a power lefty acquired, putting Kotsay on the bench. He's an historically good PH. I'm okay with seeing Jones go away. Aside from his defense, he's not been very good since his hot start.
  18. I heard that Randy threatned to "tell Mom" if KW released him. Apparently Kenny tried to make Randy understand that they are not related, but Randy was so adament that Kenny started believing it himself and decided to not take any chances.
  19. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 01:20 PM) Who gives a s*** which arm he uses?! He can't get anyone out. Post of the thread.

Three Olives makes some decent flavored vodka. I like their grape vodka mixed into sparkling lemonade. Good stuff.
  21. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 10:58 AM) So the consensus seems to be "Ozzie deserves no credit for players performing, but plenty of blame when things go wrong" Well, that makes us sound like a bunch of asses. The Sox won the other day when Ozzie sat Rios and Konerko despite the lineup. The pitching won that game, that's it. I'll give Ozzie credit for putting Omar in as a defensive replacement and inserting him in the ninth spot. The Sox have been on a tear as of late for several reasons: 1) Playing some bad NL teams 2) The starting pitching has been great...like it should be 3) There's been some timely hitting Ozzie doesn't deserve all the blame for the bad stuff, but he certainly doesn't deserve a lot of credit for the recent winning.
  22. From what I saw of Adam Dunn, he's not nearly as good a defensive 1st baseman as Konerko. However, having him the lineup as a DH would be very nice.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 06:25 AM) I'm really not a Pierre basher, but your info is incorrect. Juan Pierre has a .315 OBP. The last 28 days his OBP is .314 with a .213 BA. He hasn't turned it around. He had a hot streak, then a cold one. He hasn't been good this year. A leadoff hitter has to do better than he's doing. Shoulda done my homework. Yeah, he sucks. I love breaking down stats, and I took the time to check out a break down of Pierre (which I admittedly did not do before my previous post). You're right about his performance in the last 28 days, however in June he's hitting .258 with an OBP of .347. Still not great, but okay. And looking at this, I would tend to agree that he is streaky. What I was getting at with my previous post (and this one) is that Pierre is not this team's biggest problem, and there is no way that he becomes a $7 million bench guy. Everytime I see a post talking about acquiring a power hitter that is an OFer and sending Pierre to the bench, I just roll my eyes. Yes, I think a lead-off guy has to be better, but the Sox don't have a better option right now. Should they roll Kotsay out there again, or how about Jones?
