  1. Freddy will come through again and save the series.
  2. How about like/dislike (love/hate) Like: Freddy Garcia...pleasant surprise Dislike: Jake Peavy...very disappointing Like: Alex Rios...All-Star caliber year Dislike: Quentin...'nuff said Like: Konerko...power hitting with a decent average Dislike: Beckham...disappointing sophmore year
  3. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jun 3, 2010 -> 12:48 PM) Okay... I hate the way fat a$$ Bobby Jenks can't get a f**king 1-2-3 inning. I found it humorous that you censored ass yourself but not f*ck.
  4. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jun 3, 2010 -> 12:39 PM) Since this thread has been merged, is it still the "peaceful venting" thread? I'd say you have the option to be peaceful.
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 3, 2010 -> 12:31 PM) Is Mark Kotsay making our starting rotation suck so badly? The offense has scored runs. Sure, they're no juggernaut. But to me, those guys getting the ball every 5 days have let us down big time. No, since Kotsay doesn't pitch. I appreciate the smartassedness, but Kotsay is absolutely brutal in the 5-hole. He's a serviceable back-up 1B, and it's unfortunate that he can't be used as he would be more useful. I agree with the fact that the rotation has sucked. I was just saying that the offense, and factors within, have sucked as well.
  6. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 3, 2010 -> 12:22 PM) The rotating DH is not to blame. The culprits are Mark, Jake and Gavin as far as I'm concerned. No, you're right that the rotating DH not the blame for the entire season. But, I think that if KW had gone out an acquired an actual DH, we wouldn't be seeing as much of Kotsay and Vizquel. And I'd add Quentin and Beckham to your list of culprits.
  7. What bothers me the most is the silence. KW and Ozzie should have come out by now and said, "Wow, did we make a mistake on this rotating DH idea!" I realize that is almost comical to expect something like that. But all we hear is the occasional blurb about how KW and Ozzie get along as well as they have to and the team has to start playing better. Well, this team is in trouble. And this team will not be "this team" next year...hell, they won't be the same come August 1st. It's just a shame that players like AJ, Konerko, Jenks, and Putz may get dealt when we were led to believe that the Sox would be buyers come June and July. I have lost a lot of interest in the team, and I probably only watch 30 minutes of games off and on. I'm tired of getting that rare hour or so when I can sit down and watch a game only to turn on the TV and see the Sox down 6-2 in the 4th damn inning!
  8. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 3, 2010 -> 11:44 AM) Can we making this a venting thread? One where we can just rattle off our complaints and frustrations? I think we could use a place where we can just sound off and get these kinds things off our chests without having to sound reasonable. I'll go first: and yes, some of these our petty and trivial: I hate turning on the TV and knowing that Mark Kotsay and Omar Vizquel are going to be in the lineup and hitting high in the order. I hate knowing that even if the game is close Ozzie is still going to let Randy Williams and Bobby Jenks get their play. I hate having to see guys like Jayson Nix rot away on the bench when this team sucks balls, and we have no better options, I hate that we reward a kid like Lucy with a demotion to the minors, I hate that we have to bunt nearly every time someone gets on base, I hate that our manager doesn’t operate through strategy, but instead by gut, I hate how this organization runs the draft, i hate that all of our prospects either suck or are injured, I hate how we treat the players that Ozzie doesn't like, i hate how Hawk gets while we're losing, i hate how a lot of us saw tihs coming early in spring, i hate those bulls*** White Sox tradition ads, and I hate that there's no sign of anything changing in the near future. But i love the Chicago White Sox, so where does that put me? First off, I agree with most of your hates...and I too am tired of hearing Hawk when the team is losing (which is often). I highlighted your comment about Lucy because I could not agree more. As soon as he was sent down, the dreaded phrase "small sample size" popped up. Who cares! Small sample size or not, the kid was doing well. I wouldn't mind seeing him brought up over Flowers if AJ is traded...especially at this stage of the game. Is it really going to matter?
  9. We all know that KW is stubborn and doesn't like giving up. The Sox are in a pretty bad situation right now with the bad record and so many guys performing badly. I would hope that KW understands that even a miraculous turnaround won't necessarily get the Sox back into it. So I'm wondering what kind of moves KW will make. He's going to be limited on what he can get back because of poor performances and/or bad contracts. I hope he can swing some deals and get some good pieces in return, but I wonder if he may even make some unexpected moves. What, I don't know. I just hope some moves are made and this team gets better for 2011.
  10. If I were the GM, I would keep Rios, re-sign Konerko (maybe a 2-year deal), and try to re-sign Danks. Trade Jenks (for at least something), trade Floyd (same as Bobby...get something), trade AJ, and trade Jones. Doesn't sound like much, and unfortunately that's the reality. KW isn't going to be able to get much for the players that should be traded. But, this team needs to be re-booted for 2011, so ridding this sinking ship of some dunnage now should help free up some cash for next year.
  11. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jun 2, 2010 -> 01:15 PM) What is the point of this thread? Either delusion or an attempt to lighten the mood (fail).
  12. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 2, 2010 -> 09:06 AM) Aside from opening day, this has not been a fun season...at all. Thank goodness for the Hawks. That pretty much sums it up. It's been an incredibly frustrating season, and I don't think we'll start feeling better until some moves are made and we can actually start looking towards 2011.
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 2, 2010 -> 07:31 AM) Our pitching has yet to get hot which is encouraging, if they could get hot and win lets say 7 or 8 in a row and then continue winning series we could jump back into it. However its not very likely. If Peavy, Buehrle, and Floyd can get their heads out of their asses and start pitching like they should, things would look better. And I agree that it's encouraging that with their improvement, the Sox can start winning series. Unfortunately, I also agree that it's not likely. If 2010 was similar to the past few years where the Tigers, Twins, and Sox were all mediocre and battling to lose the division I would feel better about the Sox's chances if the pitching was to heat up. But, the Twins seem like the real deal this year. The Sox need to start playing .600 ball right now and hope for the Twins to slump a bit. Time is running out, however, and I think KW will start dealing soon.
  14. 19 hits by Texas? Really? What the hell? Where is the pitching staff that was supposed to be one of the best? Why is Randy Williams still pitching in the majors? Okay, I'll stop asking questions. I'm just a little pissed off.
  15. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Jun 2, 2010 -> 03:05 AM) How come a couple games ago people were saying it was great move by Cora to let Vizquel hit/swing away, when in fact he should have been bunting or pinch hit for, and made a weak out? It was a horrible move but Beckham bailed him out with a 2 out single that game. Yet Ozzie lets Vizquel hit and it's a terrible move to some. The guy people should be complaining about is the total waste of a 5 hole hitter in Kotsay. Now that's something you can b**** about Ozzie. We've been b****ing about Kotsay in the 5 hole all season.
  16. I said yes, it's over. Now is the time we start wondering who gets traded and what do the Sox get in return. The trouble right now is the poor performance of some of the players that should/will be traded. I see AJ going before his 10/5 deadline, but there won't be much coming back...it'll be more of a money move. Actually, many of the traded will be more about money than what comes back. Konerko may be traded, but I'm not sure. If the Sox have no plan to re-sign him then he needs to be traded so the Sox get something back. I'm completely frustrated about Peavy, but he's not going anywhere. I love Rios and hopes he sticks around. If the Sox are going to "rebuild", he needs to be a cornerstone of the future. Regardless of who gets traded, KW and Ozzie should be ashamed of themselves for assemblying this team of maybes and hopes. I realize that it wouldn't be as bad as it is if guys like Quentin, Beckham, Peavy, Floyd were performing well. But imagine how much worse the rotating DH idea would look if that was the only big issue! Throw in the towel, make some trades, free up some money, and get ready for 2011. And sorry Joe, no way do the Sox sign Cliff Lee for $20 million a year.
  17. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jun 1, 2010 -> 02:31 PM) Curtis Granderson has been hurt. Brett Gardner... really?? And who the hell is Julio Borbon? I was wondering the same thing.
  18. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 1, 2010 -> 02:01 PM) Career vs Harden: Pierre 1/2 Pierz 1/12 w/ BB, 4K (.083) Rios 3/14 (.214) Konerko 1/17 2BB, 5K (.059) Kotsay 1/6 Quentin 2/5 w/ HR, BB, K Ramirez 1/3 w/ BB Vizquel 2/10 w/ 3BB, 4K Beckham 0 PA Zoinks!
  19. So, I would assume the lineup today will have Nix at 3rd vs. Vizquel or The Kid patrolling some portion of the infield?
  20. I voted none of the above, although all three have some suspect characteristics. The one incident that I truly believe involved some government coverup was TWA 800. There was just way too much information out there about the possibility of the plane being shot down by the Navy.
  21. Nix! Juan (defense)! Rios! Pena! Great game, nice series split.
  22. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ May 28, 2010 -> 09:09 PM) Where was Ozzie today? He and Joe West took a charter out of Tampa. Only one was coming back.
  23. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 28, 2010 -> 09:07 PM) Perhaps, if Matt Thornton had Jenks' track record of allowing the go ahead run to reach base in nearly every one of his high leverage outings, a hit by Longoria may have meant the beginning of a rally but it was just a good piece of hitting by one of the greats of the game and the most shut-down reliever in the AL last season (sans the big 4 closers) nailed it down. Exactly.
