Yeah Manny was on irrevocable waivers and no one picked him up because his contract is so bad. Its so bad that even the Rangers would not take it on when giving up A-Rods contract. No one will trade for Manny now because the Red Sox would want talent, in the off-season Im sure its a; "You pay him, we will trade him". SB

Imo this is good news. Maybe Shingo never pitches for the Sox again, but if he can harness his control, maybe he will. The reality is you can never have to many veteran pitchers around, because you never know what will happen. SB

Da, Exactly its that we over paid. I think we should have still used Lee as the piece, or moved Lee for different pieces to pick up Pods. But Lee puts up pretty solid power numbers, and when you look at what teams got for the Sexson's of the world, and compare that to our Lee trade you kind of scratch your head. SB

Okay I will explain this slowly. The Brewers won the trade because they got a player who is more talented than all of the players we got in return. Yes we saved money, but the amount of money we saved was not proportionate to the amount of talent that we gave up. The trade for the White Sox to have won, would to have included a much better prospect. Carlos Lee is going to be an All-Star quite frequently for the rest of his career depending on where he ends up. Pods may never make another All-Star game, Vizcaino has been an average reliever, Hinton will be nothing. Did the White Sox benefit? Yes of course, but what does that have to do with the price of apples? We sold something with high value for things with lower value. The point of the Brewer's fans post was that they wanted to get rid of Pods, they were sellers, and we way over paid for him. I agree, I think Lee was more valuable than what we got for him. I think if you go back to the time of the trade you will see most people thought that it was going to be Pods, Viz, + some thing worth while. ::Shrugs:: SB

Why do people have to try and be dicks? The Brewers won the Lee trade. Sorry but Duque, AJ, Iguchi, were not part of the trade. The Brewers did not give them to us, and while Lee's contract being gone did allow us to sign them, it did not mean that we could not have tried for a better prospect than Hinton. ::shrugs:: The only way you can even argue the White Sox are even is adding in our additional signings, and the amount we saved. As for Overbay, I wish we could of worked him into the Lee deal to begin with. And thanks for the insightful posts coming from other teams, I actually like hearing what other teams have to say more than what other Sox fans have to say. SB

Its silly to equate grades with leadership. Not every 4.0 student is Napolean, and not every non-academic can not lead. The only way to measure leadership is to look at performance. Good leaders generally do more with less, where as bad leaders generally do less with more. SB

Why trade for Shingo when you can get him for free in 48 hours? When a team just completely dumps a player who does not have a Boone like salary, it is a strong signal to other teams that the player is worthless. Its sad but Shingo is probably gone forever. SB

Thats easy Joe Crede, Juan Uribe, Shingo, Timo for Reyes, Wright, Floyd We just have to tell the Mets that Beltran is not going to play unless they get another Boras client in Joe Crede, and then Beltran needs 2 friends in Uribe and Timo, because we know they are a positive influence on the latin players. Id just bet a lot that you will not see Lowell on the Blue Jays any time soon. If JP wants to win, Lowell does not put him in a better position than Hillenbrand. If he wants to save for the future, Lowell is not better than Hill or Adams. IE Getting Lowell would be backwards as hell. SB

Why would Toronto want Mike Lowell? So that they can have Koskie, Lowell, and Hinske all playing 3b? The Blue Jays want to move a 3b, not take one on that is very expensive. SB

Why would Toronto trade Hill or Adams? Both of them seem to be part of their long term plans. It would be like saying the Mets will trade Reyes or Wright. SB

Ive speculated for a while that Hillenbrand or Hinske would be moved because the Blue Jays just have to many players to fit at those positions. Hill is the future, and with Koskie, Hillenbrand, and Hinske at 3b, something has to change. And they are not going to want Crede, because they already have more 3b who are superior. It would have to be prospects, because otherwise I do not see how we match up. SB

I do not mind people making valid critiques. But when they start saying Robertson is a nobody, it just detracts from any point they may have. Its not like Robertson did not shut out the Rangers, or give up 1 run to the Yankees, and only 2 to the Red Sox. SB

Robertson is a good pitcher. Or maybe sub 3.5 era is no good in the AL anymore? SB
