  1. I think Minnesota is a better team than Indiana. Although V Grier was out of control when we played Minnesota. SB
  2. Note how many Illini fans have been saying the road would be easier without MSU. I was just kidding around because I never thought MSU would get very far so I thought it was interesting people were saying that it would be much easier. And Im just killing time waiting for the next game. SB
  3. I personally dont really care, I never thought MSU would be in the finals to play you guys anyways. SB
  4. Implicit in the idea that it matters whether or not Iowa beats MSU. If your posting about easier final games, it means that you already think that the Minnesota game is over. SB
  5. Why are Illini fans worrying about any game besides the next? Minnesota is a tough team, probably will not win, but they should not be over looked. Also, there will be a lot on Weber's mind. Either he will gain strength or become distracted. Its unfortunate, but it could impact the team. SB
  6. And in a bold move MSU decides that it will choke away the game at all costs. 89% ft shooter misses 2, ouch. SB
  7. Anyone that lives in Chicago its on WCIU. 65-63 Iowa, 1:35 left. SB
  8. Here would be the Alexander scenario: 1st Round 23, (760 pts), 2nd round 54 (360), 3rd 85 (165) That is 1285 points, with Alexander being around 500 pts, that would be a close trade. Id prefer moving down to 23 instead of 29 because its hopefull that 1 of Clayton or Williamson will be at 23 (or Carlos Rogers etc), but the chances become slimmer at 29. The best scenario would be to trade our 2, and then trade down with our 1 to some where in the top 20, hoping to pick up 2nd and 3rd rounders. I doubt that any of this happens, our salary is tight and both of these guys will want huge contracts. RW will have to be cut pretty much no matter what. SB
  9. Of course its going to be badass. Im hoping that it matches Empire Strikes Back level of goodness. SB
  10. Draft Value Chart Not sure how accurate it is, but a lot of draft sites use that for comparing draft picks trade value. If the Bears trade the 4 (1800 points), they should get in return: Colts 1 (640 pts.), Colts 2 (300 points), Colts 3 (132 points) Thats 1072 pts, Edge will count for a 2nd rounder Ill say about 500 pts. That would mean the trade would be 1800 Bears vs 1572 Colts. So it would take IMO, Bears 4 over all for, Colts 1, 2, 3, Edge and Colts next year 2 or 3 depending on performance. (You could ask for a 1,2 next year but I think theyd say no). SB
  11. There is absolutely no way the Bears should trade the 4 for Edge. At 4 you have a chance to draft 1 of 3 backs who have much better health than Edge. RB's wear down over time, some draft people talk about how Benson already has 2-3 more seasons than Brown. Well Edge has far more seasons than any of them. I would consider trading our 2 and RW for Edge and Colts 3 or 4, at worst the 2 and RW. But the facts are we are doing the Colts a favor, this is a salary dump and they are not going to get close to a fair deal. Personally Id rather have Brown, Cadillac, and Benson than Edge, but if we get to keep our 1 than we can draft BPA, (probably Rolle or Johnson depending on the starter traded). SB
  12. Well I got the game the other day and have been playing on All-Star with all preset levels. Its been some what frustrating getting better, but that is my own fault because I swing at every pitch instead of working the counts. But sue me the last time I legitimately played a baseball game was Baseball Stars so Ill need some time. The game is good, just really slow and very awkward in the trading, off-season, and pretty much every menu. Just gonna have to grind out some more batting practice, and that damn pitching game is annoyingly hard. SB
  13. Ill post my roster before the season, not sure how it will do but Im hoping that it will improve so I can sell players and then upgrade later on. I finished with $9k unspent. I remade it a few times, another version I had 600k left but I went through and tried to upgrade another position. SB
  14. I have accepted your challange and shall slay the Rice Burners. So we all get to chose from the same players just have to pick below salary? SB
  15. Hearings As I predicted in earlier threads, it is much better to appease congress than to try and outsmart or hide from them. Thomas will get preferential treatment because he was willing to come, the rest will be strong armed in a manner that probably will not be fun. Its just like a summons, you can be nice about the way you summon some one, or you can be a jerk and send a sheriff or special process server to their place of work. Now multiply that power by millions to get what congress can do. SB
  16. First Round: 9. Michigan over 8. Northwestern 10. Purdue over 7. Iowa 6. Ohio St. over 11. Penn St. Quarterfinals 1. Illinois over 9. Michigan 5. Minnesota over 4. Indiana 2. MSU over 7. Iowa 3. Wisconsin over 6. Ohio St. Semifinals 1. Illinois over 5. Minnesota 3. Wisconsin over 2. MSU Finals 3. Wisconsin over 1 Illinois The last time I can remember Wisconsin losing 3 times to 1 team was to MSU in 1999. So if Illinois does beat them a 3rd time, atleast your in NCAA champions company. SB
  17. Looks like a good signing for the price, the $2mil roster bonus next year may mean that he gets cut, but if he plays well enough $4mil next year for starting rt is not that bad. If they can stay healthy, the Bears finally should have atleast an average OL. SB
  18. Stolen bases are just one of those things that you either like or dislike. People that like them point to the fact that it can move the runner over without giving up an out, that it puts more pressure on the defense to be protecting against the run, keeps the players focused, etc... Then there are others that say that you can run yourself out of the big inning, that the risks are not worth the rewards, etc. There is no right or wrong answer, just your team needs to stick to a plan and keep with that plan. SB
  19. So Congress does not grant MLB's anti-trust exemption? Congress does not have the power to legislate laws? This is news to me. If MLBPA screws with Congress, Congress will just create a new law to screw MLBPA. Even with out a subpeona, MLBPA is under Congress's power, not the other way around. SB
  20. Then why did you preface your argument with: And not at all say the reason. Seems that you are just following the Guillen's souring on Willie. SB
  21. I think you guys are getting this kind of wrong. Congress >>>>>> MLBPA Congress is the one that gives Baseball its anti-trust exemption. Congress can destroy the MLBPA with the snap of its fingers. If Congress asks some one to testify, the best policy if you are not worrying about 5th amendment self incrimination, is to testify. You do not want to start pissing in the wind with Congress. If I was Frank's agent, I would tell him to testify to Congress. By failing to testify, they will first conclude he is guilty, second will just subpeona whoever they want anyways. If you start off on the wrong foot, they will be much bigger jerks towards him. SB
  22. That is your opinion, which you are entitled to, but I doubt that every one in the organization dislikes Harris. A few weeks back I posted that for sure Walker still liked Harris, so that means atleast 1 of his immediate superiors does not fall into your category. Just because the organization, or more specifically Ozzie does not like Harris, does not mean that I am just going to blindly follow and say: "Ozzie knows everything." Ozzie was a rookie manager, who handled his players pretty badly. Not to mention, I myself never once saw Harris's attitude problem. All I ever saw was a guy who was being tinkered with who showed up and gave his best every day. I cant comment on what I can not see, so since I never saw Harris's problem, its very hard for me to so blindly follow Ozzie, a guy who consistently needs to put his foot in his own mouth. SB
  23. I think congress is looking for big names who have been outspoken against steriods who have better reputations than Canseco. They need multiple perspectives, its just not like they parade in a bunch of suspected users. SB
  24. Part of keeping Lee meant that we could have traded him for a different package of players. And yah Ive read about the sliding thing, luckily I just dont think to much about it because many times last year Lee looked really good. Ah well, I just really really hope Pods turns into our version of Ichiro. SB
  25. Pods has so far been great, and I personally think that if he gets over hitting HR's and tries to be an Ichiro type player that he will hit near .300. Had he hit .300 last year here is how his numbers would of changed; 192 hits (+36), 100 r (+15), and 80 sb (+10) These are the type of numbers that we traded for. Between Rowand and Harris our lead off hitter Rowand (163ab): 31r 52h .319avg Harris (337ab): 50r 89h .264avg Uribe (97ab): 16r 28h .289avg If Pods puts up the same numbers as last year, we might as well have kept Lee because we already had a tandem that could put up similar numbers.
