  1. Semantics at this point. I took your 100% disappointment comment as in he was completely a disappointment. I don't think anyone can argue that we were all disappointed he wasn't a Vlad Jr, Soto, Tatis Jr type immediately. However, I view his season much like I viewed Magglio's rookie year, you could tell there was a lot left on the table and big things were coming.
  2. I think that's unfair. 775 OPS and 24 HR's in 2/3 of a season as a 22 year old is a nice start to me. The interesting part of his stats comes when you look at his day/night, later innings, men on base, type numbers. He hits better in primetime situations. Unfortunately most(all) of the Sox season hasn't been in contention. He also doesn't exactly have a stacked roster around him. Add another legit option in the lineup around him and start being in contention, and I think he will be the most impactful bat in the lineup.

Thank you for doing that. Worst part is that I'm probably still a mod there.
  4. Couldn't we at least have started this thread with "WAR? What is it good for?"
  5. Unfortunately its the 2010 break for the Sox.
  6. That's not what my Mom said last night... Wait, I don't think I did that right.
  7. Luis Robert is that player you create on The Show and think "Haha, if only in real life... "
  8. The 1999 rotation will forever be the worst for me. Really bad veterans and even worse young pitchers like Pat Daneker trying to fill the rotation holes. Thankfully the bullpen was lights out.
  9. 9 BB's to 7 K's in the DSL for a 17 year old? Very impressive.
  10. I think that is the direction the draft will head similar to basketball. High school players will rule the draft, and it will take a college superstar to remain a top 10 pick. Development time in an advanced metrics MLB farm system will top most college programs for numerous reasons. College players are becoming financial fodder so that teams can truly draft the elite high school talent and sign them. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/draft-system-has-pushed-teams-to-pick-more-college-players/
  11. Not being a dick, but what leverage does a college junior have? You turn down multi-millions to come back and have zero leverage as a senior?
  12. The good news is that it usually goes right through you.
  13. He had a nice showing in the cape cod league last year, but that's about it. Might be something to build off of, but from pure Texas Tech perspective, its sketchy.
  14. As a Texas Tech fan/alum, I can tell you that is an uh.. odd pick. Basically filler.
  15. Seems to be a case where Reinsdorf set a cap on the contract size around 250M or whatever, and tried to make up for any discrepancies by signing his best friends. Unsurprisingly, money wins out every time. No matter how you look at it, its a massive fail, and to make matters worse, KW is talking down to fans like the Sox "gave it the old college try" and simply lost out. Might have pushed my fandom past a breaking point unfortunately.
  16. The inability to develop high school position players is unfortunate. Seems like the Sox best option is to develop pitchers and trade them to an organization that develops position players.
  17. Sox still have 3-4 roster spots for Trout family members
  18. Josh Jung would be a terrific option for the future at 3B as well. Haven't found a hole in his game yet. The only gripe would be "only" 12 homers last year, but he's going to have another bigtime year in a pretty loaded Texas Tech lineup.
  19. He had some believers in the BA top 100 lists, and a few other places. https://www.fangraphs.com/tht/top50prospects_2004_parttwo/
