  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 10:40 AM) I really think the Sox do that by design. They would rather know young that a guy has make up problems, then to have to figure it out later on down the line. I think it's unfair to say a player has makeup problems if he doesn't handle failure as well as some. I know if I was pushed beyond my limits consistently and I failed miserably, I would be pretty down and upset as well. He laid an egg in 2012 at Winston-Salem, so the org pushes him to AA the next season? That's the biggest jump in the minors, and of course he laid an even bigger egg in AA, yet they kept him there all season? This organization has done an atrocious job of developing position players for years, and this is just part of the problem. You draft raw athletes and then push them through the system... I wonder what could happen?
  2. QUOTE (danman31 @ May 23, 2015 -> 09:05 PM) That's not entirely fair because Morse hit the roids and went from a middle infielder to a hulking first baseman. Morse was taking roids since 2003 in our system. He produces when his body isn't breaking down. Thompson is 24, so he can still put it together and help out the Sox.
  3. Reminds me of following Mike Morse during his minor league career. You could see the size and potential, and then you look at the numbers and you feel like... Hopefully he can put it together occasionally for some major league success like Morse.
  4. Just about killed any enjoyment left with college basketball. Winslow standing on the line, Winslow plows over defender, Winslow tips ball out of bounds. Just disgusting when only one team has a chance.
  5. Thanks guys. Pretty crazy that a pretty large group of us have been interacting for at least a decade now. Where does the time go? Keyboard mashing will be interesting, he loves swiping the hell out of my tablet when he gets a rare chance. Anyways, UNC-Arkansas should be an even matchup and fun game to watch. Two stupid teams with lots of athletes.
  6. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 19, 2015 -> 09:00 PM) Where the hell have you been?? Awesome little boy joined our lives 8 months ago, so I have been relegated to reading the board when I have time :-).
  7. Harvard deserved a win over UNC. Roy gets worse and worse each year.
  8. Nice job on the responsive design. I don't know if your team coded it, or if it was a WordPress template, but Chrome has an awesome emulator feature where you can test your site across all kinds of phones and tablets. It has been very helpful to my coding team.
  9. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 18, 2014 -> 01:38 PM) I like these 3 players. Just thought you guys should know. I was on the fence about them until this post.
  10. Borchard was our next closest at 12 in 2001.
  11. Gordon was up to 20 http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/prosp...009/267698.html
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 17, 2014 -> 10:49 AM) Well, whatever Oklahoma does, they certainly deserve the "winning at all costs" award. OU, Okie State, and Baylor have had that implemented for awhile. Really easy to cheer against programs like that. Tech is a sleeper to contend with the best QB in the league and a lot of Juco DL help coming in. If Texas gives the reins to Swoopes, they could be a 9-3 team. Baylor should drop and OU will be dominant.
  13. Send Johnson down to A to try to get some confidence back if you can't find anything physically wrong with him.
  14. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 09:29 AM) The best part of the FA frenzy is the hilarious contract given to McBob and the collective BJ he's getting as a supposedly good player. Let's all remember that last year was his best year ever and he scored 8.5 points, 4.8 boards, and 4.3 assists (woo!) on 43% shooting (36% 3PT). Only in the NBA does a guy who has peaked with those numbers, has unexceptional size and athleticism, and has already played for 5 teams get a 4yr/$23M contract To be fair, he's very athletic for a 6'10 kid, and has exceptional passing ability. The downside is he's an athletic 6'10 kid that plays like a SF. This is the same NBA where Gordon Hayward might be getting a max deal, while Lance Stephenson is fighting for 12M.
  15. I remember the really old Whitesox.com boards. I used to post there and became pretty good friends with Sean Lowe's sister. Weird stuff.
  16. The Big 3 sat down together at dinner before all this started. I'm guessing this is all a big game to them, from Bosh flirting with max contracts, to LeBron giving Cleveland hope. They are waiting on Riley to acquire Marvin Williams, or Pau Gasol and then they will sign again and NBA fans will hate them even more. I can't wait until this is all over with.
  17. My sister and her family live there and it has amazing weather and outdoor activities. Traffic is about as bad as a normal big city, but the cost of living is really high and the people arent super friendly. If you can legitimately afford it and arent looking for any resemblance of a small town feel, then its a great option.
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 01:38 PM) That was a mistake. His name is Luke Curtis. Aww, you didnt have to Luke it up.
  19. Too bad we couldn't pull in Curtis Curtis, lucky Brewers.
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 01:50 PM) Good build. Has tools. He'll put it together or he won't. Sounds like the Jay Bilas scouting report.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 12:06 PM) I don't know how a 2nd round pick that hasn't pitched above HS can possibly be on a top 10 list at this time. That is either crazy, or the Sox current prospects are even worse than we thought. That's the very essence of "prospect". Part of it is what have you proven already, but the other major part is what do you have the potential to produce? Its the very reason guys like Hawkins and Trayce Thompson can rocket up and down prospect lists. Its the reason that guys like Micah Johnson, Sanchez, and Beck can stagnate no matter how high their batting average's appear or how low their ERA's drop. You can see a clear distinction between folks on here who view production at the minor league level over potential, and vice versa. Its fun seeing the difference in thought processes. But saying others are crazy with their lists because of a different view isn't fair. Adams has the potential to be a #1 starter, and we haven't legitimately gotten our hands on many of those over the years. Usually we are drafting in the middle of the draft, and end up with guys that produced in college and have the potential as #2-#3 type starters, or completely raw athletes in the OF. This is exciting as hell.
  22. 1. Rodon 2. Anderson 3. Adams 4. Danish 5. Hawkins 6. Michalczewski 7. Montas 8. M. Johnson 9. Davidson 10. Beck
  23. Great first two picks, you can almost guarantee a college senior at 77.
