  1. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 02:07 AM) you didnt feel anything special about Arow when he first came to the sox? man i remember telling my wife the first time i saw him play "this is the kinda guy that will win a WS for the sox". dont you remember he didnt get to play right away under Jerry Manure? i was dying to see that guy play everday and see what he would contribute. he presented self confidence, hard work, & desire. when he didnt play well he wore it on his face & chest. i like a guy on the team that can lead thru difficult times. i could just tell that he wasnt going to be the kinda guy who wasnt going to settle for losing. look he certainly wasnt the team last year but IMO he represented what defines champions from winners... I thought he was going to be a great player....but shockingly, he couldn't contribute as well in 2005 as he could in 2004. I think people forget that he was clearly our worst player down the stretch and in the postseason.
  2. When's the last time Thome did something to help this team win?
  3. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 01:35 AM) there are 2 things that i will remember even after i am dead: 1. why did we let wilbur marshall go? 2. why didnt we stay with the WS ballclub at least until around the Allstar break and then gauge improvements? #2 is a worthless argument, as we were in a great position at the ASB. 6 games up on the Wild Card is as good as you can ask for, especially since the Tigers were playing such amazing baseball.
  4. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 01:34 AM) Why would you want Jon replaced in the fifth inning for gawdsakes. He's not doing well.
  5. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 01:33 AM) Get Jon out of there Ozzie. Of course Ozzie has to wait until the pitcher reaches 100 pitches, no matter how well he is doing. Yep, and he wonders why our pitchers are fatigued and don't have the same velocity as they used to.
  6. T. Hunter has been phenomenal. Shame on whoever said he wouldn't be an upgrade over Anderson this year.
  7. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 01:27 AM) I love Thome but he has not come up in a big situation since opening night it seems. More like since the homer against Santana in the game that we won.
  8. Can Garland just never throw his changeup again? It's probably his 20th worst pitch...and he only throws 3 pitches.
  9. This game's about to be over. Leyland is managing a superb game tonight...you can tell that the Tigers have so much more fun out on the field than our guys do.
  10. Real tough outs were our 3-4-5 that inning.
  11. Anyone have a stat about what's Thome's batting average in games that we lose?
  12. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 01:08 AM) Gload has a pretty good OBP too. I'm convinced he has the most infield hits on the team this season.
  13. Our stellar early inning offense continues. They've been worthless during the first 3 innings for about a month now.
  14. QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 12:58 AM) So .... which side of the fence are you on? Sweeney will be a player worth keeping after his arbitration years or he will not? Yes...mainly because he's so young, he'll be at his peak years by the time his 6 years in the majors are up.
  15. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 12:53 AM) Which is just so ungodly stupid... Every single thing that's been written in the paper over the last two months indicates that Pierre has just as good of a chance being our starting CF next year as does Brian Anderson.
  16. QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 12:52 AM) Are you saying he will be a bust? Step out, one side of the fence or the other. Ozzie...I never said he'd be a bust. However, I don't think he's strong enough to be a productive hitter in the majors right now. I think he can become a very good MLB hitter....you'd just like to see him drive the ball with more authority as he matures.
  17. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 12:50 AM) Which is why fields is our top prospect for 2007 Yep, and it's not even close. BTW, whoever said that Pierre will be our CF next year is reading my mind.
  18. QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 12:44 AM) How long until people start saying Sweeney is the next White Sox outfield prospect bust? I've said this all along, but he reminds me too much of Sean Burroughs right now. Hopefully he drives the ball better than Burroughs did.
  19. There is a big difference between Fields and Sweeney right now in regards to how the ball jumps off their bat.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 03:27 PM) once again, its ONE down year. He is one of the most consistently good pitchers in the entire MLB. You dont just give up on your best pitcher, your Ace, your staff leader because he had one down year. Mark has a career 3.63 ERA, find me a replacement for that type of production. Every pitcher will have a bad year or two, its called baseball. I'm more concerned about how many innings he's logged. Trust me, there's no bigger Buehrle supporter than myself. However, I do have some concerns about his ability to keep his ERA under 4 for the next few years. He's going to get paid like a superstar....I just am not sure if his best years are behind him.
  21. Real cool back page picture with our 3-4-5 greeting AJP at home, with the names on the back of their jerseys perfectly aligned.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 03:21 PM) Yeah, and his down year may give us a chance to sign him at a discount below what market price would be. Is there any team in the MLB that wouldnt want Mark on their team? I dont think so. And that's why KW has to try and see what type of extension Buehrle and his agent are looking for. I think it's going to be in the range of 4/48...and that's just too risky for the way he's looked this year.
  23. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 03:02 PM) Well, one of Contreras/Buehrle/Garcia/Garland/Vazquez/McCarthy has to go. Which one is up to KW, and I'll trust him to make the right choice. I wonder what he'll even try to get in return for any of them. And hey, maybe this win was that magical "fuse" we needed to light. Let's just hope it's not another dud, and that Oz E. Coyote doesn't try to play around with it too much and have it blow up in his face. The more things progress, the more I'm not so sure McCarthy will be on this team next season.
  24. Here's the question you have to consider: With next year being Garcia's contract year, will he be trying his hardest all year and pushing himself, or will he conserve his arm in order to be healthy when the season is over?

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 02:39 PM) You dont just go and trade your Ace of the last 4 years because he had a down year. Thats ridiculous. No, but if he's in the last year of his deal, and he's looking at a very big contract after the 2007 season, you have to consider it.
