  1. Birmingham now using their second position player as pitcher. They have a much better line at this point.
  2. Wasting no time, Ponce de Leon getting the start for Charlotte.

  4. PTAC deals with injured people all the time. I have as well. As a guy trying to deal with a bad back I get it. Sometimes no matter what you do it acts up and it is frustrating. Sometimes you also know it is on you. Backs are one reason I remain scared of Vaughn having issues. If all it took was running in the outfield over a couple months to have it go, he very well may have issues down the road, or as he ages, or at any f'ing time.
  5. I am 95% sure that the ghost runner scoring is always charged as an unearned run to the pitcher starting the inning.
  6. I agree with the premise in your post and some of the responses. I think your ability to walk the first batter to set up the double play is dependent on your confidence the pitcher will throw strikes and or get a ground ball (while not allowing a passed ball). Also if the opposition has first and second with no outs, are they more likely to bunt which brings your confidence in your defense making the play and or not throwing balls into the outfield/catching them etc etc. Baseball can be great because while it seems simple it can be as complex as you want.
  7. Pitching is weird. In the past, it was the one thing the Sox seemed to develop. I think we got behind with the overall shift to analytics/video based vs "old time" eyes. On the other hand, Coop did fix some. Seems the verdict is out on Katz and the new approach. Is it as simple as we used to draft college arms which required less development and during rebuild we kind of shifted to position players and some high school arms (longer development and higher injury/bust rate)?
  8. Day game for the big club, night for the minors. https://www.milb.com/scores/all/all/whitesox https://www.mlb.com/prospects/stats/affiliates?teamId=145&date=04/12/2023
  9. There has been talk that way. Think Nashville and maybe Montreal also have been mentioned.
  10. Hope the Knights have a good season. Great looking ballpark but the team has not been very good. Would like it to remain affiliated with Sox.
  11. No games 4/10 in the minors as all are traveling. Here are the Tuesday games https://www.milb.com/scores/2023-04-11/all/all/whitesox https://www.mlb.com/prospects/stats/affiliates?teamId=145&date=04/11/2023
  12. 13 pitches 10 strikes for Alex
  13. If Arizona fixes him easily/quickly, does this raise any questions re the Sox pitching coaches?
  14. https://www.mlb.com/prospects/stats/affiliates?teamId=145&date=04/09/2023 https://www.milb.com/scores/all/all/whitesox Happy Easter everyone! Despite the rainouts, just AAA showing up. Lets get back to .500
  15. Winston Salem double header rained out also.
  16. https://www.milb.com/scores/all/all/whitesox https://www.mlb.com/prospects/stats/affiliates?teamId=145&date=04/08/2023 Very wet across the south and southeast.
  17. Everyone scheduled!!! https://www.mlb.com/prospects/stats/affiliates?teamId=145&date=04/06/2023 https://www.milb.com/scores/all/all/whitesox Go Sox
  18. I would be for any routine developed by training staff that could be performed quickly before an at bat that might loosen/stretch/prevent injury. Perhaps the next edge is finding a way to keep injury prone or recovering players ways of preventing injury or getting back faster. Based on our results, we haven't got it.
  19. https://www.mlb.com/prospects/stats/affiliates?teamId=145&date=04/05/2023 https://www.milb.com/scores/all/all/whitesox Everyone starts tomorrow.
  20. No games in minors 4/3 so will start this early. Still AAA. Looks like A, A+, AA start playing Thurs 4/6. Depending on the assignments, I may have to check out Bham this year. Think they could have a interesting group. Looking at the rosters, I think they haven't been updated since Kath is still listed on AA. Think that is from project Birmingham last year. https://www.mlb.com/prospects/stats/affiliates?teamId=145&date=04/04/2023 https://www.milb.com/scores/2023-04-04/all/all/whitesox
  21. Think Jirschele has a bright future. Saw Remillard 4-4. Looked and saw he is 29. Never played in majors. May not fit with us but can't help but hope he gets up for someone/us sometime. That close to your dream after that long........ Maybe we have division wrapped up early and he can come up Sept.
  22. https://www.mlb.com/prospects/stats/affiliates?teamId=145&date=04/02/2023 Sorry for my dereliction of duty. Will try to do better.
  23. I am not advocating for this but to answer your question of who else can be the dh/1b, the semi-obvious answer would be Grandal to keep a left handed bat in the lineup. I could especially see this early in the year while we learn if his health/bat has returned. Who knows, he is as likely to require full rest vs playing a less demanding defensive position.
