  1. I would like to see them put him in a spot in the order,(to me 7-9) and leave him there. Let him get in a rhythm and I agree on some defensive lapses I would give him a day off a week but work heavy in the field on fundamentals. He is still very young experience wise. I would try to schedule the work day even so the sub knows and can be more ready.

  2. "Arm fatigue" rest 4 days and do extensive video work. Three every other day side sessions with coop (testing the recurrence of fatigue) Cmon I'll right the report here from Alabama. LOL. He does look out of sorts and frustrated on the mound. The problem is on the active roster he needs to pitch hence I thought a quick retool might help get his head cleared and mechanics back on track. I understand you can't disable healthy people but the ten day does make it tempting to do short overhauls if a valid reason can be found.

  3. For those of you who complained about my trade proposal, watching Todd tonight who is owed 8-10 million this year, he does not enhance your return he hurts it. Just to be fair, when I proposed the trade everyone was talking about including Frazier, who to me carries negative value today. Since I think we have some payroll flexibility, I would hope he gets hot from now to deadline to get a B-C+ couple prospects as compensation so I wouldn't include him as a negative in a trade. At the deadline, he goes to open trials for others.

  4. I know we want to trade/get value for him but he has really struggled. I think the phantom injury 10 day dl or more problematic a brief demotion may be needed.

    If thats the case then he won't be moved till the winter meetings or deadline next year as he takes over for Robertson and builds his value up even more.

    I'm sure nearly everyone will be shopped but I would put a high price on him. I think you value him like he is for real and teams won't want to pay that price. If he takes Robertson's place and is for real, next trade deadline you could get a haul greater than Robertson as he will be under control thru 2020 and cheap.

  6. QUOTE (daggins @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 03:01 PM)
    Or Skoug, who will likely want overslot money.

    In the podcast, it intimated that Skoug or his reps were talked to and although you "can't" discuss terms(everyone does), we had an idea what he would need and took him. Quite likely after he fell, his number may have changed overnight. That tells me we can get there and this 500k certainly will help.

  7. I think when the midseason rankings come out, the differences between these players will narrow and some may even switch. I would just like to see moves being made because I am bored and I understand a bad move is worse than no move. If Frazier goes, I think you get to evaluate Davidson in the field over time and see what Delmonico's bat might look like at DH.

  8. Adams has a WHIP of 1 , ERA 1.78, k>1 per inning. Fowler also at AAA, 20%k rate, OPS .863 (better than Frazier) and 11sb with improved D. Andujar about 16% k rate . BA .312 OPS .836 at AA. All three 22 years old and by being closer to the majors less risky to me. I wanted one more player but these three are all highly thought of and performing. I would certainly not turn down another prospect but Frazier to me is mainly a salary dump. Doubt you get more than a couple C type prospects without paying his way.

    I think the comment from Hahn about "take fewer swing and miss" guys implies they wanted more advanced type bats. thus less HS and more college bats.

    I love the approach of guys with high walk/k ratios and baseball players overall. I think all of the explanations make sense. I too am surprised of no LHP but I guess it may have fallen that way.

  10. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 10:34 PM)
    No chance the sox sign him then. That's one of the top water polo schools in the nation. Must have picked him knowing they won't sign him and save some money.

    Think if you don't sign you lose the slot value.

  11. Think Crowe still available. Per Gonzalez twitter he apologizes to fans for being ineligible at end of May. Is that the off field? Grades or supplements or ineligible benefits? Think maybe grades cause he said chance to be reinstated.

  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 02:53 PM)
    Yes, strikeouts are just enormous. You go back to high k guys like Adam Dunn and Jim Thome, who both provided 40 homers and a lot of on base, their k rates in the minor leagues weren't all that high. They are only going to go higher with Kendall IMO.

    I know strikeouts were considered no big deal for a while, but to me that made no sense. The reasoning was an out was an out. But even then, runners couldn't advance, and it blew off putting a ball in play gave you a decent shot at a hit. Strikeouts for hitters meant nothing, yet k-rate for pitchers seemed almost most important. Very odd.

    Yeah, I guess I am old but I hate K's. They do nothing for the team. The k with a runner on third with one or less outs sends me into a rant. Fast guys need to put the ball in play and pressure the defense. I love the pressure speed puts on the defensive teams but only if done correctly. The talk of a high strikeout guy as a top of the order hitter I don't get. #9 ok. "Fast" guys who steal at 50-60% success rate I don't get either. For pitchers, I hate walks. K's are great but gimme guys with low WHIPs all day long.

    Nice find. The article is from May 2010. Plenty of time for the first group of players to make MLB and I recognize no one. I don't follow as close as some but even his subsequent groups have very very few useful players. With regard to Kendall, a k rate of 26% as a freshman and 25% now makes me want to pass. If they couldn't fix his k's, I am not sure our organization has any track record of success. It is shocking to me how much players strikeout today compared to the past.

  14. QUOTE (ventura_abreu @ May 28, 2017 -> 12:26 PM)
    I thought a comment by Marco Paddy to Steve Stone and Jason Benetti was interesting as he indicated that, now that Luis Robert was in the fold, he had to go back to work finding the next Luis Robert. Marco seems to believe in the quantify of quality players concept, especially with regard to signing 15 and 16 year old International players. For the next 2 years when he is limited to giving any particular player a $300K bonus, I wonder if he relishes the chance to finding a wide variety of $300K bonus players. In a way and for the next 2 years, there might be a player who another team might have offered $250K that the White Sox will offer $300K just because all their cap money has to be used in smaller chunks the next 2 years.

    It will be a challenge for sure. The opposite is also true where another team can offer 310-325 cause we can't go over 300.

  15. Excellent post and thanks for including data. I think it may be that he is trying to hit with more power and may be more of a warning track power type than slugger. Some of the issues you pointed out may also be indicative of a pressing player. We all know Moncada is the future so I figure he knows it also. Did he try to get more pop to fit the profile of a third baseman better? Who knows. Some of this stuff can almost be unconscious as well. I was going to put it that he sits to close to our current third baseman and has contracted Frazieritis.

  16. I wonder how Yolmer would look in center or perhaps he could succeed in a super utility role like a Zobrist. He could even give you some games on the right side of infield. I understand small sample sizes but what kind of odds could you have gotten on a double trifecta of Leury, Avisail, and Yolmer playing regularly all with OBPs over .800 and Frazier, Cabrera, Anderson all barely above .600?
