  1. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 07:15 PM) So... Timo went 0-fer again. He's down to .223, and his OBP is creeping towards, if not already there, the .260s. But, we don't need Ross Gload. CWS the scary thing is that if Everett goes on the DL, Borchard gets the call, not Gload. Per Chicagosports.com. KW thinks he just may have come around. Good lord.
  2. QUOTE(brijames @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 07:15 PM) Gooch is flat out this teams MVP. Buerhle probably wants to give him a hug after that. LOL
  3. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 07:11 PM) Thank god Iguchi doesnt know to much English .. were Walker can screw up his swing You owe me money for copyright infringement. I have been making that comment all year long. LOL
  4. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 07:11 PM) It looks like Scotty is starting to come out of his stolen base slump. That's huge. Gotta feeling this is going to be an ugly ab for aaron resulting in a k. Prove me wrong arow. Scotty Pods has looked good on the basepaths again. That is a great sign. Gooch coming through. BTW has anyone heard a status on Everett.
  5. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 07:08 PM) Gotta love that 1-2 of ours. If our 3-4-5 could get it going we would be in business.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 07:06 PM) When's the last time you saw a team with the best record in baseball fire a coach? I'd say Walker has more job security than any other hitting coach in baseball. Well we all like to talk about how bad the possible playoff opponents pitching staffs are and how our pitching staff will shut the other team down, and our guys will get all sorts of hits off bad playoff pitchers. Yet we struggle to get hits against the mighty mariner pitching staff. BTW THANK GOD FOR GOOCH. AT LEAST OUR 1-2 PUNCH CAN DO SOMETHING. GOD.
  7. QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 07:03 PM) Man, Moyer has underrated stuff though our offense is not good right now but the guy has great endurance and stamina for a 40 year old. Moyer is a guy who wants you to swing at garbage. He is around the strikezone. Our undisciplined offense with the low BA and low OBP doesnt fit well for success.
  8. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 07:02 PM) How's the game going, fellas? I just got home, did sort of well playin' cards. Buehrle pitched well I saw. Offense pretty anemic outside the first inning, huh? Well we had men on 1st and 2nd with no outs in the 7th. Crede flys out to LF and then Kong gets doubled off. That pretty much killed a rally.
  9. Oddly Uribe has a .205 BA at home. I cant figure out why. 3 runs on 3 hits. Nobody works the count.
  10. It would be nice if the offense showed up one of these games and took some of the pressure off the pitching staff.
  11. All we got is 3 focking hits. You have got to be kidding me.
  12. Nice line drive swings tonight. If the pitch is away hit it up the middle and oppo. If its center in, then pull it. Take a few pitches. When they get in hitters counts, pick a zone and attack it. Dont swing just because the count is in your favor.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 10:57 AM) I actually am optimistic about Uribe, as he's been taking better swings lately. With a 206 BA and a 230 OBP at home Uribe can only go up.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 10:49 AM) Chicagosports.com also had a quote from Ozzie saying how we need to get more people on base. It's not like we haven't been hitting a lot of homers recently. It's just that too many of them have been with no one on base. The team is near the bottom on the AL in OBP and near the bottom in singles. I see this as more of a chronic problem. Our guys need to go deeper in the count and take smart cuts. If they get 2 strikes, shorten the swing up a bit and put it in play. Too many strikeouts with men on.
  15. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 10:44 AM) At this point, I'm not even concerned about who it is. I'm not even complaining about Timo. This team needs some useful bats on the bench. They have none. OK Widger is having a nice back up catcher season, but that's it. Blum is your best bench player(which is really sad by the way), and he should be the one we're upset about being stuck in AAA. Brian Anderson, Ross Gload, some guy who clears waivers. we need help. You can't have Uribe/Crede/Pods hitting back-to-back-to-back in the playoffs without a decent option on the bench. Well chicagosports.com reported that if Everett goes on the DL, Joe "no tool" Borchard will get promoted to the show.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 09:40 PM) He was much better higher in the order last year, I thought a poster stated earlier. All I know is that the current lineup isn't doing much of anything. Hell, we had two solid offensive showings with Timo batting leadoff. Maybe we should just bench Uribe when we play at home altogether. He is batting a wonderful .206 at home with a lovely .230 OBP. Crede is next with a .213 BA at home. Away from the Cell Uribe is batting .275 with a .322 OBP. Crede is .286 away from the Cell. Maybe the swinging for the fences comments isnt just speculation.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 09:32 PM) Personally, I'd like to see Uribe up in the order against the lefty. We're going to need his offense if we want to start scoring some runs, and he was very good up in the order last year. It seems to me like he would focus more. I'm all for putting Iguchi in the 3rd hole right now. I know he's great in the 2nd spot, but if Pods isn't getting on base, he does us no good batting there. Uribe wont change his hitting based on where he is in the lineup. He is a reckless swinger no matter what. All that happens if you bump him up is that Uribe kills a rally quicker. When he came to the team fatter this year it should of been a warning sign to the team.
  18. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 09:21 PM) I don't know how anyone is defending the sox right now, they are hitting like s***. Tip your cap to the pitcher when he deserves it but today he deserved to get rocked and that didn't happen because they just can't stop trying for that god damn home run. I also hope they won't be doing this crap in the post, its gonna be a lot different knowing they can't lose so it will be a lot more intense but doing good going into the post wouldn't hurt. Well what we are seeing on this homestand is what they did in the 2000 post. They tried to hit homers and all you saw was popups. I think our 3-4-5 hitters had 400 pop ups during that series.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 09:23 PM) Yeah, the same J. Moyer with an ERA on the road of 6.79! I still wonder who's going to be in the DH spot tomorrow. With Everett's injury lingering, maybe we need to send Adkins down again, and call up Anderson. Great a soft tossing lefty who spots a fastball on the outside corner. Good lord.
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 09:18 PM) You make a good point, but I was talking about coming back late in games, like the 8th inning, like we were doing so often earlier in the year. We were outscoring teams by a ton in the 8th inning this season. There is also a big difference here. The whitesox have a great pitching staff that can barely make mistakes. They have to pitch to perfection or near it to get those great offenses out. They put a lot of pressure on our pitching. Do you think that even the medicore pitching that those teams put out are really worried about pitching to our hitters. Look at our stats, we are near the bottom of the league in BA and OBP. So we dont walk, we dont hit to get on base that much. That doesnt really put pressure on the other team. Our game is execution. We get a hit, we need to get that runner to 2nd and either move him to third or get a base hit. Lately we have forgone this and have tried to mash our way to wins. This is not the team to do this. We need to go back to what made us winners this year. And mastering the solo dong is not it.
  21. Joel Pinero to the rest of the league.... Joel Pinero against the Whitesox tonight...
  22. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 09:05 PM) no he won 15 games in 03. He has very good stuff. That was 2 years ago. This year his era is in Felix Diaz/Jason Grilli land.
  23. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 09:02 PM) You know what Pinero pitched a very good game and he is a pretty good pitcher. So tip your cap to him and move on. His ERA pre game was 6+. Thats not the mark of a pretty good pitcher.
  24. First question from Bruuce Levine to Ozzie. Do you feel that your team is trying too much to hit the long ball. Its so obvious that the mediots have figured it out.
  25. 11 of the last 13 runs have been scored via the dong. Corpseball is back.
