  1. QUOTE(hi8is @ Apr 2, 2005 -> 04:59 PM) Sheriff Joe had him in the tent city wearing pink and eating bologna sandwiches.
  2. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 02:26 PM) You should also remember his start against Seattle where he pitched fantastic last year. I was at the game in Peoria. Its the same story. He has an explosive fastball. But the minute he gets a few men on base he starts to get tight around the color. Then its slow pitch after slow pitch and he loads the bases up. His fastball on Sunday was great. The first few innings he was getting ahead of them with that. Then he fell into the old game of splitter, splitter, splitter and it hurt him. My question is simple. Tell Contreras he is not allowed to shake a sign off. That will end the dilemma. He has to throw what the catcher puts down. Stop letting this guy make any decisions and it will be better. Just a thought. Also LTP did not look at all to be hustling. There was a ball hit out to him and he slowly jogged over and then soft tossed it in. If that was crash the ball would of been flying in to home to get the runner. Konerko looked solid. Gooch also.
  3. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 25, 2005 -> 01:21 PM) He forgets that we also got Luis Vizcaino in the Lee trade. Also, apparently to Sheehan, Rowand just had a career year last season (I guess he hasn't looked at any Spring Training stats). Buehrle and Garcia are #3's? What a pile of crap. And here's the best part... Someone needs to get off the Twins' nuts. :headshake More opinion and speculation from people who think Sabermetrics are the only form of measure in baseball. On paper things can look one way, in the field is where its played however. His analysis of Aaron Rowand is true to this, he makes speculation that last year was a career year. Aaron looked pretty good to me, nice compact swing and he has been hitting the ball not only with power but to all fields. A true scout would see this and say he projects to have a good year. Now BP runs his last 4 years though a formula that a math geek came up with(who never played baseball) and states that last year is the anomaly. BP is junk pure and simple.
  4. Dont worry this turd of a reporter will be swearing how he predicted that the sox would be the team to beat come August if we are in first. These are almost getting comical. Another Moronic prediction 3. White Sox It's been another unfocused and generally harmful off-season for GM Kenny Williams. They achieved a nifty upgrade with the A.J. Pierzynski signing, but the Carlos Lee trade will be a low-grade disaster. Jermaine Dye was not a sage addition, and the small-ball tactics of manager Ozzie Guillen will hurt the offensive attack. The rotation is a potential strength in terms of its one-through-five depth, but there's little else to get excited about. Frank Thomas' health concerns are another source of concern. Another garden-variety 82-win season is probably in the offing. They're the quintessence of a third-place club without a real prayer of winning the division.
  5. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 05:29 PM) Believe it or not, some don't share the same man-crush for Mackowiak you seem to possess. He's nothing to write home about. I, on the other hand, have wanted Mackowiak for two years now. He'd be an excellent piece of the puzzle. I really think he'd contribute. Plus, he grew up a die-hard Sox fan. He'd love to play here. Well with Hizzle My Shizzle Willie Harris showing he can play 2b, SS, and CF he can be the super utility guy. He is perfect for this job. Our main area of concern is 3b. Yes we can ship Uribe over, but this is a bandaid and not a solution. Fields is too far away, so we need a viable backup, a lefty that could platoon and take some of the right handers would be great. For all of the work that Crede has done his swing still looks very very long. I would love to see Crede hit about 260 but I think his brain is getting in the way of his natural ability. And btw for all those who dont want Mackowiak who is your pick for backup 3rd baseman, and if you say Burke you might as well just say no d'fence at the corner.
  6. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 05:07 PM) http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...ort=MLB&id=6725 http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...ort=MLB&id=6930 Since the Pirates seem to be going with Wiggington at 3B and they already have Bobby Hill to backup 3B and 2B, is Mackowiak going to be on the trading block? They also have a glut of outfielders (Jason Bay, Matt Lawton, Tike Redman, and Craig Wilson) so they won't need Mackowiak to play there either. I think he would be the best possible backup for Crede. I wonder if the Pirates would be interested in Borchard, Willie, or Adkins. I would rather keep Atkins and Willie and ship Borchard and/or Felix "BigGun" Diaz.
  7. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 04:10 PM) I did find a glimer of hope in Borchy: vs. KCR 250/758OPS, @ Kaufmann 33AB 242/839OPS vs Finesse 250/715, & CL&L 239/762OPS First pitch wise 236/781 Behind in the count - too lousy to mention Count 2-0: 429/858, After 2-0: 280/900 Count 3-2: 250/949, After 3-2: 250/949 What's it all mean? When Joe makes contact he's a 900+ OPS player. But Joe has yet to demonstrate he can battle at the plate. Most 1-0 counts against him become 1-1 counts. If a pitcher gains the lead in the count after the 2nd pitch Joe's bad. Real bad. 1/10 avg at best. He's always been a Sosa like K-out artist but he had much more contact in AA & AAA. Can he develop a better eye in the months to come? I think we should maintain a sliver of hope he can. If he can stay healthy it's possible at least. Anyone have some rum and cigars for Borchy Joe Borchard: Batsy are sick. I cannot hit curveball. Straightball I hit it very much. Curveball, bats are afraid. I ask Jobu to come, take fear from bats. I offer him cigar, rum. He will come.
  8. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 03:57 PM) LMAO Ken Harvey is ejected. Easy Ken it's on ST, now go take a seat in the clubhouse tubby. Oddly enough someone was overheard yelling all you can eat buffet for 5 bucks for the next hour only right before that happened.
  9. QUOTE(Y2HH @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 03:49 PM) If you just offered me crap on a stick for Josh Stewart in a straight up deal, I decline, unless you're willing to take Borchard as part of the deal! I just want to make sure that we dont have someone trying to fill Mike Jackson's role on this team this year. We dodged a bullet wtih Ozzie's affection for all things Marlin(the original Tee Ball Stand Grilli). Now we just have to dodge Felix "cannon" Diaz and Josh "Duck" Stewart. Someone who is a lot better with photoshop should superimpose Charlie Browns yellow shirt with zig zag design on Josh's image. The picture of Charlie throwing the ball and getting all of his clothes knocked off on the ball getting blasted right back at him comes to mind with Josh.
  10. QUOTE(Y2HH @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) Well so much for Josh Stewart 'quietly' getting his stuff back. He was mashed by the Royals a day after Sergio Mitre dominates them. B) So much for trade value. Crap-on-a-stick.com
  11. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 03:27 PM) You're all a strange group of fans. You seem to delight in trashing ChiSox players. I maybe the only fan left who still has hope in Borchy but you guys have all but flushed the toilet on him. Go Joe! 3-2 Sox after 4 I think he became open game for trashing when he followed up his banner year in RF last year with getting released from the Mexican league for futility with the bat. Ross Gload hit like a god in that same mexican league the year before. My scouting report on Borchard is the same as Valentin. If you throw a fastball near the plate watch out, he will hit the thing to the moon. However if you happen to put a bit of spin, cut, curve or any movement what-so-ever on the pitch he is doomed. Since Valentin is gone he has taken over the title of Pedro Cerrano for the whitesox.
  12. QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 02:58 PM) His numbers out of the pen last year say otherwise. Even though it was a pretty small sample size. Mike Jackson and Billy Koch looked pretty good in about the same sample size. His confidence is the problem. In Diaz's case its a new analogy(a 75$ arm and a 10cent head)
  13. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 02:52 PM) I can't believe I have to be the voice of reason among all of this ignorance. The fact of the matter is that Felix dominated AAA. He has proven that he has among the best control in the organization (maybe even second to BMAC). The fact is that the Sox brought him up without having him pitch in 2 weeks, then had him pitch on three days rest. Yet when they weren't screwing him over he actually proved he could get the job done as a starter when not jerked around (two quality starts) and a very good run out of the bullpen down the stretch. Now don't get me wrong I wouldn't get choked up in the least to see him traded, in fact I think it would actually best for him. What pisses me off is you guys calling him turd or comparing him to Joe Borchard. With the premium on pitching there is a solid young arm is still worth well more then a never will be outfielder. Jeckle how does that have anything to do with the fact that his fastball is 91mph with no movement. Billy Koch got lit up with 92-93 with no movement and his breaking stuff is a heck of a lot better than Mr. Diaz. There have been tons of guys who owned AAA only to get destroyed in the majors. The comment that Diaz sucked because the sox screwed him over is giving Diaz's talent level a bit too much in the props department. Diaz gets away with great control, except that he is gunshy at the major league level. BMAC has two things that Felix doesnt and they sit between his legs.
  14. QUOTE(ptatc @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 02:42 PM) I think a young pitcher with a good arm has trade value with someone. Look at someone like Joe Nathan. Good not great minor league numbers, couldn't cut it as a starter in the majors but has success as a reliever. I'm not saying Diaz is Nathan but good arms are hard to find and are in demand. Diaz however has a very very very very straight slow fastball. He doesnt really project as someone that can become electric out of the pen.
  15. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 02:36 PM) Wow 2 innings of no hit ball for the "Tee ball stand". I am shocked and amazed.. then again it is only the "Royale with Cheese" he is pitching against. The beauty of baseball is that some silly scout will view our tee ball stand with rose colored glasses and believe that a future Cy Young is just their pitching coach away from appearing. Hopefully the same goes for Borchard. They catch him on a 2-4 home run day with 2 monster shots. That scout hopefully will believe they have Mark McGwire in front of them instead of Crappy Bumwitz that we all know we have.
  16. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 02:27 PM) The phrase "showcasing Felix Diaz" is an oxymoron. Polishing turd's is how we term "showcasing Diaz and Borchard"
  17. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 06:43 PM) Cubs pitchers blaming the wind on Comcast. Did the wind stop when we were pitching? The funniest one is when Barret said that the sox home runs where all wind aided. But we all know his was due to the extra lifting and skill with the stick :fthecubs
  18. For those watching the comcast broadcast. Did anyone get a view of the old dork with the wrigley weeds on his shirt. Thats a whitesox winner. SOX PRIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. And for the usual crock, Derrick Lee is the player of the game. I keep forgetting that this is a home game for the flubs. Arow is the man in this game.
  20. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) Damaso looked weak that inning. Like he kind of slacked off and then decided to bear down when he got a couple of guys on base. Jeckle your boy had a hell of a game. 2 dongs.
  21. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) While Marte did a little worse last year, I am now realizing how much we take his arm for granted. I mean, he was b****ed out for having a bad year last season, and his ERA was still under four. I'm definitely glad to have #43 in a Sox uni for a couple more years... His arm is fine, its his mechanics that a bit out of whack. Think about it this way, a lot of other pitchers wouldnt of been able to strike out guys after going 3-0 on them. His stuff is filthy, he just needs to get his commander under check again. His problems should be fixed here in spring training.
  22. Marte has got to get this stikezone thing figured out if he is going to have a better year. I am watching this game and I see the same thing as last year. He doesnt follow through on his fastball and short arms it, the ball sails. He gets behind everyone and gets himself in trouble. The guy has filthy stuff but needs to get it around the plate more. His stuff has kept him out of major problems, but it will catch up with him sooner or later. Come on Damaso, left hand should wind up at the right knee after release buddy.
  23. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 04:53 PM) yeah, I mean its almost as bad as a page long signature. Did Kevin Walker finish the game. Is it over?
  24. QUOTE(3E8 @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 03:27 PM) rockraines, cotts is an example of why you don't stick young guys into the major league starting rotation before they are ready. Thats not a fair comparison. Cotts was walking people at a good clip at every stage he was at. He doesnt look at the plate(part of his deceptive delivery) until he is about to release it, and he pretty much has only a fastball that he short arms. Use a comparison with someone who has a tad more tools than Cotts.
  25. QUOTE(3E8 @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 03:19 PM) crede pops up. Hopefully he gets it together for a season or he is just keeping Fields roster spot warm. BTW Here is the big difference between what we have seen from BMAC so far and what we have seen come up since Buerhle. Bmac goes after hitters, he is a control pitcher who isnt afraid of going in. He doesnt let the count get in the hitters favor and has control around the plate as opposed to other people *cough*cough* Diaz who are afraid of the hitter, throw meatballs near the plate, and have no confidence. Confidence is the biggest difference beween Buerhle and what I have seen so far of BMAC and the rest of the clowns we have brought up over the years.
