  1. We lost Abreu and Liam, while gaining Benintendi, the subtraction of Tony La Russa and the wild new plan to play outfielders in the outfield. If we have a relatively healthy season I expect this team to win the division. To do anything besides get blown out in the first round, a few guys need to have career years or a lot of people need to get hot at the right time, which is no different than what usually happens when any team wins the world series.

I dont have tv rn.  Whats the guy behind home doing?

Dude sitting behind home plate wearing some sort of black and white checkered leotard has been waving his hands and fingers around like crazy while Lucas delivers to home. Looks like at the end of the inning security was finally talking to him though.

Any background on why Andrus was released? He's not having a bad season by any means. Basically a league average hitter for his position and is above average against left handed hitting. July was his best month of 2022 as far as OPS goes.

This seems like a no brainer for the Sox.

Vesting 15 million dollar option for next year if he gets enough plate appearances, but the article says that does not transfer to a new team.

villar could be worth exploring. can you do minor league swaps still in august? i thought you could ... he caught on with the mariners after angels cut him.

I believe you can only still trade for guys that were never played at the mlb level this year and also were never added to a teams 40 man roster.

  5. Are there any mlb experienced veteran shortstops out there we can still trade for that have been in the minors and not on the 40 man all year? Just an mlb average infielder could be a big upgrade/help for this team over the next month. I'm surprised they never got a guy like this for AAA this year like Ryan Goins/Tim Beckham in the past. Did they just figure Romy Gonzalez was that dude? Hopefully Sosa is a guy, but for once I wish we had a surefire meh backup option.

Once tried to do a dog every half inning with my brother.  Not the dollar dogs.  The better ones.  With onions obviously.  He went 6 innings.  I went 6 1/2.  Felt like garbage for days.  Worth it for the win though.

What were the better ones? Kosher's Best? They were still discounted too right? $2?

Hahn seems like the Renteria of GMs. Fine with handling the rebuilding teams, but absolutely not who you want handling the contending teams.

Looking forward to Jerry brining in the TLR equivalent to replace Hahn in the offseason.

Maybe TLR just slides over to GM when he can no longer physically be the manager?

  8. I have tried to email the team via the contact info on their website but I can't seem to get a response.  I lost my father in law to cancer.  When I started dating his daughter he and I quickly bonded over our mutual love for the Whitesox/baseball. Watching games together was our thing. Our family is planning to attend a game at the end of the month and honoring him in someway while at the game is not only one of his final wishes , it is an important part of our healing process. In a perfect world we would spread some ashes on the field but I understand that is probably not possible. I just wanted to see if there were any other options. Scoreboard messages?  Brick or plaque someplace with a donation to Whitesox charities? Thank you.

Agreed. I go to games because I enjoy baseball. Win or lose. Too many people only care about winning. Of course winning is better. But baseball is baseball.

True, but a bad high payroll team full of veterans is baseball hell. I would much rather watch a young team full of intriguing prospect lose.

I'm back in Chicago in two weeks and normally I would be at two or three games. Yesterday  I was thinking maybe one, but now I'm thinking I'll skip that one. Looking into fishing charters on Lake Michigan instead. Even at $10 tickets are overpriced to watch this.

It is a long season. If the team is great then I'm excited to see them as much as possible in person or at least on tv. When they are bad, I still check box scores and news ect, but I definitely won't subject myself to a bad team almost daily for 3+ hours.
