  1. The sports media company that I work for in Northwest Indiana covers mainly IN football, but starting today, we are expanding into Illinois. At 1:30 on 820 AM we are broadcasting the St. Rita vs. Fenwick game. If you get a chance, listen in and let me know what you think, my bosses would love to get responses from Illinois fans. Thanks.
  2. The Raiders take: Jay Cutler And in doing so eliminate any chance of Marques Tuiasasopo starting and making this Raider fan very happy.
  3. QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 04:25 PM) This one is hard I think.. Fire in the Sky?
  4. QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 09:38 AM) Is that "8 Heads in a Duffle Bag"?
  5. Even though I have only posted a few times, I usually lurk around the draft stuff and will take the Raiders, if you guys don't mind an unknown jumping in this. If you want just regular posters, that's cool too.
  6. If anybody ever has the chance, you should go see Buck O'Neil speak. He gave a lecture here at Ball State University about three years ago and it was probably the most interesting speech on baseball I have ever heard. He told great stories about himself and Satchel Paige in the Negro Leagues and how honored he was to be one of the first black coaches in the majors. He spoke with such energy and enthusiasm that I was surprised to find out later that he was 92 at the time. After the speech, he signed autographs for every person there. I was one of the first in line and I made sure to bring a Sharpie. He asked if he could borrow it and said I should hang around til he was done with it. After everyone got their autograph, he talked to myself and a couple of friends of mine about baseball and school for another half an hour. It's great to see that a player who was never really recognized for his skills get a chance at an honor like going to the Hall of Fame. It also means I can charge a bunch for that autograph
  7. Perfect Shatner Memorobilia! http://imdb.com/news/wenn/2005-11-17/#10
  8. My dad gets my brothers and I a fun gift every year and last year we got the NFL Mighty Helmet Racers. Basically they are just small remote control cars that you can put any NFL helmet on and drive around trying get a velcro football past the other car to the endzone. Here is some more info about them: http://www.mightyhelmetracers.com/ This may not be what you are looking for, but I thought they were a fun present for a sports fan if only for a few days of enjoyment.

    Be A Pal

    Sport Administration/Management PROS: You get to talk about sports during your classes You are entering a field in which you know you are passionate about To be honest, it's relatively easy CONS: Hard to find work right out of school Starting pay isn't very much
  10. "Refugee" by Tom Petty I saw him and the Black Crowes in Indy this last summer and it stormed so hard, the power at the theater went out during Refugee. Petty was getting right to the chourus when this happened, so everyone in the crowd started singing. By far the best concert I have ever been to.
  11. By the title of this thread, I thought you were going to talk about his commitment to the nuclear plant instead of concentrating on softball.
  12. Don't know if any of you guys saw this post over there, but I thought it was pretty cool. "On a side note -- I worked today's game. One of the classiest things I've ever seen -- the White Sox bullpen coach out in right field just after their batting practice was done. That guy handed out balls to the youngest of kids, signed autograph after autograph for anyone who asked, posed for pictures and even put little kids on his shoulder and backed up to the grass so their parents could snap a shot of them. I asked a White Sox fan who he was and they explained it was their bullpen catcher, Man Soo Lee and that he does that at every home game...signing autographs for everyone that asks. Classy guy and, when their team was introduced there was an ovation from the right field stands when Lee was announced. So, if it can't be for my beloved boys (oh, how I wanted to be in the park for more excitement), then I'm rooting for the White Sox. Go Sox! "
  13. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 09:16 AM) The Sox have 95 wins right now. My fault, I meant if the Sox ended up with 96 too.
  14. What would happen if Cleveland won out, giving them 96 wins, Boston did the same, and the Sox drop their last four, leaving them with 96?
  15. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 05:41 AM) somebody provide news about what the talk shows are saying about this today. Cold Pizza was talking about it this morning. They went over Ozzie's comments, but they didn't say that is was in retaliation to Maggs so it looked like Ozzie was talking s*** for no reason. Of course, Skip Bayless bashed him pretty bad. I know Cold Pizza isn't the best sources for news, just something to watch while killing time before class.
