  1. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 06:08 PM) Has he said anything else about the Sox? The segment was pretty much about Bonds and other free agents. I didn't catch it all, but I heard no trade talk.
  2. Kirkjian is on ESPN now and said the Sox are not interested.
  3. QUOTE(ChiSox9 @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 03:13 PM) Just to break it up a little... how come normal everyday work life can't be like the winter meetings and free agency? I am going to take a break for 2 months and people could start bidding on me to work for them. Everyone could spread office rumors about me and who i might go to work for and how much i might get from my other employer. See that would be friggin sweet! Can you hit a curve ball?
  4. So, you guys think anything will happen tonight, or can I go to bed now?
  5. What are the duties & powers of the Soxtalk President?
  6. QUOTE(beautox @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 11:59 PM) i think KW is rolling with Pearl Jam's Corduroy right now The waiting drove me mad......
  7. Good news. If I remember correctly, Joe is now the only player not signed for next year.
  8. QUOTE(bulokis @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 12:26 AM) I still dont like the idea of trading Mark because he has been our ace. For me if we are trading our starters, I would trade Jose because he is old and we can get more for him now that he has pitched well for us. With the way SP costs now and if we can get great trade value from Vazquez, I would not mind seeing him traded soon. According to some, Jose has a no-trade clause thru 2007.
  9. QUOTE(spiderman @ Dec 2, 2006 -> 08:12 PM) I agree with the first part of your comment - it's definitely still early. Obviously, some of the impatience comes from the Cubs spending a lot of money, and the White Sox sitting back early on. On your 2nd part, we're fans. If there's a rumor that's gaining steam, and is being reported on the Score/LA Times like the Figgins/Santana rumors, I don't have a problem with fans commenting on the rumors. I understand, I am a fan too. I just don't see the point in getting all upset or excited about Eric Chavez, or Ken Griffey Jr., or any other trade rumor which hasn't actually gone down. Especially people who have been on here for a while and have seen all that.
  10. One of my biggest frustrations are people who are acting like this off-season is already over, or who are judging trades that have not even been made yet.
  11. If he was going to spend another year in AAA, it should have been last year. I can't believe that would actually happen.
  12. If a guy can hit .406 or win the Triple Crown and not get MVP, than Albert has nothing to b**** about.
  13. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 29, 2006 -> 10:57 AM) Carpenter, Kip Wells, Adam Wainright, Jeff Weaver, Anthony Reyes. That's probably better than anyone else in the NL Central looks on paper. The Cardinals signed Weaver?
  14. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 05:46 PM) I didn't know you went to Alaska Heads. I plan on huntin Kodiak with my Dad and Godfather next year. Do you eat the bear meat?
  15. Joe doesn't seem like an "LA type of guy". At least now it is just about a 6 hour or so drive home for him. Perhaps that will make him change his mind and sign an extension. I know I am reaching here, but I really want to see him in Chicago for a long time.
  16. Is Valido still in our system? Will he ever be a decent major leaguer?
  17. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 08:12 AM) Plus, any guitar shop worth anything can easily "flip" the set-up for you. You might have to pay a bit more for it, but if you find a guitar you want, you find a guitar you want. Not true. On an electric guitar a new nut would have to be made and the bridge would need to be re-intonated. On an acoustic guitar the entire saddle slot would need to be filled and re-routed to set the intonation properly. Not to mention a new nut & saddle made as well.
  18. If you want to get her the best gift of all, grow your mustache back.
  19. Go shopping with her and pay attentin to the things she seems to like. She will probably even make some comments like "Ooh, I like this" or "This is cute". Then go back without her and get those things.
  20. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 12:22 AM) That'd probably be too hefty. I'm thinking $300 would be the absolute tops I'd be able to go with given my salary, bills, etc. For that price you should be able to get a Fender acoustic with a case, but make sure you get a solid top. It is worth the extra $100.
  21. Are you willing to spend $500 on an acoustic guitar?
  22. If go with an acoustic, try to get something with a solid wood top, not laminate. It will cost a bit more, but it will sound much better. If you get an electric, I would recommend something with out a tremolo(whammy bar) which can make a guitar hard to keep in tune and be frustrating for a beginner.
  23. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Nov 24, 2006 -> 07:50 PM) Guitar gurus here at Soxtalk, I am currently looking to pick up a decent/moderately priced acoustic that would be easy for a beginner to fool around with since I have no experience in playing guitar but want to learn. When it comes to picking out a guitar, I'm more confused than a hungry baby in a topless bar. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance. What do you consider moderately priced? That is kind of a subjective term.
  24. QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 23, 2006 -> 06:44 AM) The center of the bird doesn't always get hot enough, long enough, to cook the stuffing. Huh, I've never had a problem with it, to me it tastses much better than the stuff in the pan.
