  1. YAY!! oh man yay!!! thousands of jobs won't be created in the city you live in the midst of a recession!!! The city we all love can't be put on a stage for the whole world to see!! Glorious day!!!
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 03:52 PM) Tell me how you think Chicago's corruption with the Olympics is going to effect you. Affect
  3. Brazil's government is a mess. For all the praising of Lula he has no idea how to balance the obvious breaks and benefits they should be giving to their growing business with the social institutions they've set up. Everything is underfunded, their public schools are terrible, their health care is terrible, etc. To his credit, he's one of the best diplomats heading a south american country. Anxious to see what he does with this Honduran crisis. I assure you, if you think the US government is bad, nay, if you think the city gov'ts of the US are poorly run, you have no idea. Absolutely none. Do you all want to know what it's like to find your way around a gigantic city, not on a grid, with below average transit system? It's not easy.
  4. Yes, because Kanye is the bats*** insane one of the two.
  5. QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 03:19 PM) The results are about what I expected. Sad isn't it? We cannot rally for good, we can only rally against evil. Well, I think there needs to be some sort of competition, don't you? There was such moral grounds, a definitive good vs. evil, to keep you on your toes. I'd like to see us get to mars first, but obviously, mars just seems so out there in terms of possibilities. Granted, the moon probably felt like that.
  6. Man, it would really set us up well if Viciedo pans out. Hope he really settles in next year.
  7. My friend worked the Beijing Olympics. She said 20 minutes before breaking, I believe his own, world record, Hussain Bolt was eating a 20 pc chicken nuggets, goes out with his shoe untied and breaks it. God I'd love to see him run. edit: This is just an olympics story, Don't really expect him to be as fast 8 years from the last, but whatever.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 02:05 PM) Not a chance. Unless something crazy is going on that we don't know about, this is a blip on the radar. Crazy huh, what kind of acts you have in mind ss2k5...
  9. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 01:40 PM) In a perfect world, yes. However, there are no really ideal candidates in the 1st round of next year’s draft. There’s a lot of pitching, and a lot of good High School infield bats, but that’s about it, right now. Ahhh. Damn. I was hoping there were some Smoak clones.
  10. Do you guys see us going for a powerhitting 1b in the draft?
  11. we don't have a USSR to rally against. As much as some try to recreate cold war/try and initiate war as only option, it isn't the same.
  12. I've seen just as many stupid progressives do the same thing. God...politics move faster now but not so f'n fast the president can't leave his administration for a day to promote bringing something that will create many a job for a city. Suck it idiots.
  13. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Oct 1, 2009 -> 08:56 PM) I know the whole first Games in South America thing is a big deal, but the crime/poverty/infrasturcture of Rio is really s***. And because Brazil is hosting the 2014 WC I feel enough voters will feel okay with skipping past them as hosts. Yeah, I really don't think people in Chicago realize that Rio has really s***ty transit. They are one of the few cities in south america WITH transit, but it's no where close to Chicago's. Granted, I haven't seen their plans. Add on top of that the perception of crime for tourists (which is very real, but you just shouldn't be stupid). I suppose with their 14 bill committed they might be upgrading it, for sure obviously are. But after Beijing and how impressed the IOC was with them, Rio would be a pretty big gamble. It's a beautiful city that's much different looking than your average summer games, though. And they will eventually get it, I'd guess. The southern hemisphere kind of screws over winter/summer olympic bids. I was wondering if Buenes Aires could host a winter olympics if it's summer wasn't our winter. Are skiing spots close enough, I'm not that familiar. That said, it appears that Brazil is the best spot, next to Chile perhaps?
  14. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Oct 1, 2009 -> 08:13 PM) Looks like Perry doesn't want it to come out that he authorized the killing of an innocent man. Well, as per my article, It appears the Obama administration is pushing the conviction of an innocent man who was tortured just to save government embarrassment on something that didn't even happen on his watch. What a joke. All the wrongs I thought would be a cinch for a good exec to fix he's shuffling his feet for this BULLs*** policy to seem tough by being an asshole hawk. Torture is just punishment, it's no tool at all.
  15. http://tinyurl.com/y96hz94 What was carried out in our name. A pretty disgusting, brutal report about an innocent man being tortured to justify the lockup.
  16. I'm ignoring tyler perry shows to no success.
  17. The thing is, those 100,000 stadiums aren't really built to keep in the noise the way Qwest, or, obviously Lucas Oil's is. In fact, when Soldier Field Toilet Redux was being built one of the pluses was it was going to hold in noise much, much better than the old design.
  18. I agree it's gone by pretty quickly. My youth is over. God, by the time 2016 comes around...i'll still be behind ss2k5 in posts by about 30,000, but my youth! My youth will be over!
  19. I doubt these online vids are giving them any profit. Plus the ad pulls on his show surely aren't helping him.
  20. We've carried 3 catchers before in this decade. A craptastic three of sandy, mark johnson and josh paul.
