  1. To be fair he just said 5 prospects, and they could do that.
  2. I’m personally rooting for the braves trade now.
  3. Does not seem like Seattle optimized the value of those three.
  4. https://x.com/jeffpassan/status/1731521414056820940?s=46&t=9lkBcVJmwvxFpyVi5DNtCg actually a fun trade
  5. Props to the committee. Did what everyone deep down wanted, and gave the others the righteous ranting against the committee. Everyone wins.
  6. Had 19 home runs across three levels the year before. He hit .320…of course he had high BABIP. He’s always had high BABIP.
  7. Anyway if we are doing bat-first players I’d take Grissom over Busch. At Gwinnett (not PCL) this year he had a BB rate of 12%, nearly had equal walks to Ks. He had 30+ doubles as well.
  8. Yeah, think I said yesterday but almost every team we are matched up with I end up hovering over their 2023 first round pick longingly.
  9. OTOH I like it much more than the dodgers packages
  10. I also thought he was older, much as I thought DeJong was taller but this time it worked in the players favor
  11. I actually just think Grissom is underrated here because he’s off prospect lists.
  12. Auto correct is murder on Smith-Schawvers name. Gonna be a rough offseason
  13. If AA is being aggressive, I’d have to believe the package would include Smith-Schawver , Vaughn Grissom as headliners. That would be interesting just because it is subtracting from their ML Roster depth, but they clearly want to spend on veterans and may be out on bringing along younger pieces at the moment - especially without Wash. I think this is probably underrated by the board due to Grissom’s down year in his 75 mlb games, but he is only 22 and torched AAA this year. He should get a shot to improve in the infield on the Sox, unfortunately the worst team in history at helping that along. Add to that package Didier Fuentes, who pitched in low A as a 17 year old, and Owen Murphy - because we love our local boys now- and I think that is likely to be a strong offer. Honestly reminds of the pirates-astros Cole deal.
  14. Covey was a good pick, he was really close to figuring it out a few times. Sometimes pitchers gonna pitcher.
  15. I was looking at Toronto and just like, pouting and reading Arjun Nimmela's bio.
  16. so many times when I look at other systems I find myself just wanting to use Cease to re-do our 2023 first round draft.
  17. I'll say one thing on this - I have made fun of Hahn because I am 100% certain he was way too swayed with publicly winning deals by getting things like "your top hitting prospect and top pitching prospect" which was determined by industry consensus. I feel in my bones that is right, and that he was obsessed with guys like Rutherford because he was another top 100 guy and he ignored that hew as freefalling. I think our prospect guys now are much better about updating scouting looks throughout year, but I'd much rather get some guys that are on the upswing rather than just "highly rated" That said: getting a short, soft-throwing pitching prospect as the main piece would be brutal. As A piece, well I'd say "oh maybe we got the new kyle hendricks" and it's nice he's probably thrown more innings last year than the rest of our rotation combined sans Cease.
  18. I did find it funny that we finally got an infield focused on defense after abandoning the sinker baller reliever profiles Hahn was obsessed with
  19. I personally believe this but also think the Sox are too lazy for this approach
  20. Well, I mostly would say it doesn't matter at all and more talent is more talent. But I do still want to stress that Gonzalez extremely sucks.
  21. I think of the media tea leaves, the most reassuring notes have been that Ceases additional control is meaningfully valuable. When some of the other pitchers were rumored to be available, I worried about straight up talent upgrades winnowing his market, but sounds like the group that would need to trade for a SP is doing so because they need to slot in some high-level cost certainty to round out the team.
