  1. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/mlb-draft-lottery-2024-could-certain-teams-win-by-losing/ Another day, another team talking about how they hope not to do well in the lottery so they can hopefully do better next lottery and not get shut out of a far better class. If we want to help these poor big market teams compete faster, we should let teams trade lottery numbers. White Sox trade 100% of their lottery numbers to the Boston Red Sox for Chris Murphy. And would the As be upset they are now 2nd best? Well no they'd be thrilled! THey don't want to land top 6 either this year. Anyway we could see how much value teams truly put on these spots. Because I think the tanking, in mlb, is overblown. People aren't doing it specifically for draft picks. They are re-aligning their org to collect more young talent and that will come at the cost of wins now.
  2. My takeaway from watching Jordan Love is his offensive line is very good, and when it's only good he looks pretty terrible. Packers oline absolutely handled the Chiefs dline. Chris Jones was barely felt until the 4th and the packers had a few field goals. He is a pretty good West Coast QB. Probably Goff-level.
  3. Well Carlos Carlozo said Cole Phillips wasnt even a top 40 prospect in their BA update for the Braves. The KC prospect was good enough to get an injured Kyle Wright but has largely underwhelmed. I'm gonna say Sean Burke and like Shane Murphy
  4. Also $12 mil for a starting pitcher is not a lot.
  5. I forgot they signed him to a long term deal and assumed he was just arb mins, my bad
  6. I don’t think there is any eating money here. We are very likely to pay for a Marco Gonzalez esque pitcher in FA. He’s a 1 year, $12 mill contract. His club option next year doesn’t even require a buy out. its a real bummer as this is a perfect trade for a Getz to make. But a hallmark of Reinsdorf Gms is extreme team building laziness. They are too obsessed with their own legislated team building pieces and systems and don’t just call and anticipate other orgs needs and difficulties.
  7. To be fair he just said 5 prospects, and they could do that.
  8. I’m personally rooting for the braves trade now.
  9. Does not seem like Seattle optimized the value of those three.
  10. https://x.com/jeffpassan/status/1731521414056820940?s=46&t=9lkBcVJmwvxFpyVi5DNtCg actually a fun trade
  11. Props to the committee. Did what everyone deep down wanted, and gave the others the righteous ranting against the committee. Everyone wins.
  12. Had 19 home runs across three levels the year before. He hit .320…of course he had high BABIP. He’s always had high BABIP.
  13. Anyway if we are doing bat-first players I’d take Grissom over Busch. At Gwinnett (not PCL) this year he had a BB rate of 12%, nearly had equal walks to Ks. He had 30+ doubles as well.
  14. Yeah, think I said yesterday but almost every team we are matched up with I end up hovering over their 2023 first round pick longingly.
  15. OTOH I like it much more than the dodgers packages
  16. I also thought he was older, much as I thought DeJong was taller but this time it worked in the players favor
  17. I actually just think Grissom is underrated here because he’s off prospect lists.
  18. Auto correct is murder on Smith-Schawvers name. Gonna be a rough offseason
  19. If AA is being aggressive, I’d have to believe the package would include Smith-Schawver , Vaughn Grissom as headliners. That would be interesting just because it is subtracting from their ML Roster depth, but they clearly want to spend on veterans and may be out on bringing along younger pieces at the moment - especially without Wash. I think this is probably underrated by the board due to Grissom’s down year in his 75 mlb games, but he is only 22 and torched AAA this year. He should get a shot to improve in the infield on the Sox, unfortunately the worst team in history at helping that along. Add to that package Didier Fuentes, who pitched in low A as a 17 year old, and Owen Murphy - because we love our local boys now- and I think that is likely to be a strong offer. Honestly reminds of the pirates-astros Cole deal.
  20. Covey was a good pick, he was really close to figuring it out a few times. Sometimes pitchers gonna pitcher.
  21. I was looking at Toronto and just like, pouting and reading Arjun Nimmela's bio.
