  1. the dollar store division looks to be pretty tough....
  2. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 08:37 AM) I think you mean Kenny is the Joke.. How many Div Titles do we have under him.. anyone ??? People we changed managers and now players when this year fails.. who is to blame? Herb Schiender? Jimmy the Hot Dog Vendor.. When it comes down to it.. The GM is to blame period. Fire KW lets get a GM who knows what he is doing.. I read a another post and it sums up KW to a tee.. KW gm's like he played. How true is that so basically you just wanted to open up some other topic that could allow you to bash KW in the same way as every other thread that you post in. I mean come on, why dont you open up a topic titled "I hate KW" and then it would eliminate the mystery behind seeing if there is actually good information in the posts.
  3. I just like hearing cubs fans grasp for something positive in their offseason. With maggs gone, it looks like they swapped an overpayed strike out player, for another overpayed strike out player. And paid the salary of the one they let go. I love watching the cubs fans squirm, let the tigers have him.
  4. QUOTE(silver and black @ Jan 30, 2005 -> 01:48 PM) I would rather have JC as starter i'd rather have weaver's little brother
  5. I know I would rather have maggs go to the tigers than the cubs. In fact with the trade of sosa and if maggs signs with the tigers, it leaves the cubs out in the cold, which is better than nothing.
  6. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 09:22 AM) Yep 2nd half of 02 and 2003 sure proved that Give me Delgado any day of the week over paulie, Paulie is so slow he got throw out on a walk! Paulie more valuable, not only because he is more durable, but also because he is a better fielder than both 1b's. And he will be cheaper than delgado, hands down. His attitude is also more influential on the attitude of this team than anyone we could bring in to replace him. Give me Paulie over any of these guys any days of the week. And definatley over a ten foot long signature
  7. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 08:09 PM) He ain't Delgado, Sexson, or GLaus. you are very correct about that, they are much more injury prone, and Paulie has been a consistent player whilest they have been out for periods of time. I think he is more valuable than them
  8. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 08:40 AM) Agreed, it would be a nice thought, but I would think the guy would want a full time thing, which we can not offer because of Crede.. Plus we have a back-up..in Uribe, lets just hope that he was not a 1 year wonder.. which is my second worse fear. I wonder if these players are now looking towards us as a comfortable place to play though. It could be possible that we are this guy's first choice. PLus I wouldnt mind getting rid of crede, not because of his stats, but because he is a boras client, and if josh fields does not step up, we will be out in the cold on a 3b. I dont know, just a thought.
  9. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 04:18 PM) Almost as much as KW almost as much as 10 foot long signatures..... :headshake
  10. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 01:38 PM) Take out Konerko, AJ, and Iguchi and that would be the line up. 1) Pods 2) Uribe 3) Maggs 4) Everret/Thomas 5) Gload 6) Rowand 7) Crede 8) Davis 9) Harris Not nearly as deep. SB I second that emotion. Good riddance
  11. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 03:28 PM) I am going to go with a slow start, but a strong finish like Matsui of the Yankees had his first year here. .270 15 HRs 60 RBIs 30 steals 80 runs scored I think that is VERY realistic for sure His power numbers arent going to be a good as we all think, but all he needs to do is get on base, and score some runs.
  12. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 12:05 PM) I don't know how many times I need to repeat this. Cooper agrees with me. My hope is that Cooper can persuade Ozzie to rest EL-D more often than the rest. So did you guys have a conversation about this, and he agreed?? Did you show him all the stats???
  13. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 10:57 AM) He's a sure thing because he will be at least mediocre. Garland still has a damn good future ahead of him. It's all a matter of when it kicks in for him. OK. I think the point that was made with Vasquez, is that he would be better than mediocre, which means he would be, on average, a better player than Garland, do you agree?? Juggs--easy killer, we know the trade isnt gonna happen, dont bring out the soap box and the stats quite yet.
  14. QUOTE(southsider17 @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 08:18 AM) Garland is a sure thing. Sure to give you 12 wins and about 200 innings, which is what he's been doing for the last 3 years. That's great production from a 5th starter and decent production from a 4th starter (which is more accurately what Garland is). so you are saying, he is a sure thing becuase you know for sure that he will be mediocre. So you think a sure thing is any player who doesnt leave a little mystery to his game. So we could pick up a crappy pitcher, and he would be a sure thing because we would be sure he will lose 12 games??
  15. QUOTE(JoshPR @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 10:45 AM) Say NO to Iron Glove No Range Graffy what a hater...graffy would be great, for the attitude, and for back up purposes
  16. Doesnt anyone think its a little too soon to pull the plug on willie???? Not to mention trade him for a "gritty vet" which will probaly do nothing but make the team older. If that is the case, which "gritty vet" would you want to bring in??
  17. QUOTE(quickman @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 01:25 PM) Excellent and factual. All true. Rowand also hits 20 hrs, is great defensively and the fans like him. Harris can't bunt hit a fly ball to the track, and most fans hate him. Biggest difference the sox hate him In a-rows second year, his avg and OPB was lower than willie's does that mean that A-row was pretty much worthless to this organization???
  18. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 12:25 PM) Maybe... Like Mr. Zero, He already has a nickname. can someone find this out possibly????
  19. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 11:57 AM) You're getting into this debate rather late. There is a huge difference between Rowand and Harris that any educated Sox fan will be sure to point out. With Harris, you have attitude problems and questions of desire. With Rowand, you do not. Harris has fallen out of grace with the Sox organization for a reason...something to chew on. You are implying that you are an educated sox fan, and I am not. Of course your evidence for this is that you say that all along, sox fans always wanted arow and knew he was going to turn it around because he had NO attitude problems. You seem to forget so soon that most sox fans were calling to get rid of arow after his 258 .298 .394 .692 season. You better believe that there were issues of possible desire and attitude problems backing up getting rid of him. Luckily they decided that experience and offseason work may make arow turn the corner. It worked. And now he is one of the most popular, as well as hard working players. Willie has some issues, but anyone would after getting dumped on by fans like you. I just think, that we need another full season to determine whether or not he is expendable. He could turn into a good role player, if he is used correctly. His year last year is actually pretty equal is not better than a-rows year mentioned above. Im not saying he will be a star, but I think he deserves some more time.
  20. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 12:48 PM) Look for Graffy to be the final piece. I could see Graffy for one of the Sox AAA guys. Maybe a reliever like Baj could get the job done. But that would be my guess. Kenny and JR always liked him and he'd be a great asset off the bench. I do think this could be the end of Willie, but I doubt it, because regardless he's good insurance at 2nd and CF. I agree with this post for sure. TG could be a GREAT option, and willie, I think could be a good backup in the outfield as well.
  21. QUOTE(quickman @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 11:52 AM) Harris is gone, we will get a minor leaguer for him, also, I wonder if Willie thinks he will steal 60 bases now. Dumb ass. I wonder if you were calling for the trade of A-row 2 years ago???
  22. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 11:10 AM) Why do we need Willie? He can't steal a base, He can't hit LHP. The only thing he would be good for is late Def replacement, but Iguchi has a great glove, as does Timo and A-row.. There is no need for him other than getting sent to Charolte. wow so quickly to turn on a player after his first complete season. If you were in charge we would of let A-row go a long time ago.....good thing you are not. Willie hasnt proven that he is a star, but he is also very unproven. Its possible that less pressure on him from not being the lead off man, as well as the only stolen base threat, can contribute to willie having a breakout year. The signing is good cause now we have a more established player just in case, but it is very feasible that willie can still turn out ok.
  23. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 09:40 AM) I don't think we'll be "really terrible" because our pitching looks to be so solid. At worse, we figure to be a .500 team. It could turn out to be a VERY good season, however. Considering what we have tried in the past, this is a good philosophy by the Sox management. BTW ... Welcome to Soxtalk. But you HAVE to admit, even the rotation has several holes that could open. Two cuban pitchers who are large question marks, as well as JG who never lives up to his potential. There is alot of chance for error
  24. This def gives us a better 1-2, as well as eliminating some more black hole at the bottom, good signing!!! UNless.....what if he fails the physical??
