  1. 2 more HR for bleday. 19 on the year. I still don’t think he’s the right pick at 3 but it’s getting to the point where it would be hard to be mad if he got taken at 3
  2. Bleday has been on an absolute tear. Been a pleasure to watch. Can't believe the power has developed to this extent - always had a great balanced left stroke. Hit and oppo bomb yesterday that hit memorial gym - serious power
  3. Thoughts on schedule for how difficult their schedule is (ie playing NO, LAC, LAR, KC, Phi) they have a few nice breaks.... First part of the season...have a chance to be 5-0 going into BYE (not predicting it by any means - but should certainly be minimum 3-2 and hopefully 4-1. road games are against favorable opponents. Long week before they travel to Den. Oak loses home game by playing in London really tough stretch coming off the bye, but.....at least we get NO playing outdoors and coming off a bye week. LAC at home followed by @ phi (feels like one of those two games will be flexed to primtime) is tough. Then Giants, @ lions again on thanksgiving. Kind of a bummer they dont get the extended week to host dallas and have to turn around again on the following thursday, but at least its at home. Really important and tough stretch to end season - @ GB will be tough. At least we get KC at home in cold weather. @ min tough too, but vikings could be out of it by then potentially.
  4. bleday on fire lately with 5 HR in last 14 ABs. .362/.458/.733 11 HR 20BB 22K as a team my commodores are hitting .325/.427/.503. Pitching traditionally our strong suit is finally rounding in to form too. Hard to say because in a 3 game super regional anything can happen, but anything other than Omaha will be a disappointment
  5. IIRC the rumor got floated like a day or two before dodgerfest (or whatever their equivalent of soxfest is) and Joc had a prominent PR role in it. While we are all uneducatedly speculating as to what might have happened - Seems plausible to me the dodgers said “wait a week to let anyone know,” then they saw the likes of WSD, Richard roeper and Peggy kuszinskis son for crying out loud tweet about this. They got pissed and backed out
  6. lol fornication pride night....can't believe bill veeck never thought of that one
  7. before the season started I was hoping there would be a chance bleday would be available in round 2, but it hes played himself into a top 10 or top 15 pick it seems like. Bryant certainly is the natural comp for Vaughn - although bryant turned himself into a valuable piece as a defender and baserunner, something vaughn likely won't do.
  8. Vaughn with 2 more HR today. Up to 7 on the year already. Tanking matters. And it matters to be number 1. Not number 3. The data supports that (even if Vaughn is available at 3 still - which he still could be)
  9. probably gonna be in the conversation for 1/1 again next year. which is fine. we still desperately need talent since its clear we cant attract top talent via FA
  10. Can’t pick Vaughn. We have yonder there. Ok obviously kidding. Vaughn and rutschman clearly top college players. I don’t know much about the HS guys (nor can anyone who isn’t a National scout) but seemed like a few months ago Witt was being talked about as 1-1. Obviously one of those three will be there. these drafts show you just how important each draft spot is, and how much better it is to pick 1 or 2 than 3 or 4. Tanking matters
  11. This isn’t true - booing them is the message to the front office. On their own without Machado they were both bad baseball moves for a rebuilding team
  12. Great post. We’ve been bad for a really long time now. I’ve seen nothing out of the current management to think they are the ones that should be in charge of the rebuild. People have thrown out comparisons to the Astros (myself included) because they recently rebuilt, but the FOs could not be more polar opppsite. They are innovative and progressive, and we run an antiquated model
  13. contrast that to the astros, who even despite the appel and aiken debacles (god can you imagine if they took Bryant instead of appel), landed springer, correa, bregman and kyle tucker
  14. at one point roughly a year ago i feel like i recall Hahn saying that a few moves may have accelerated the rebuild. Well a year later and the shortcomings of Moncada and Giolito, injuries to Kopech, Burdi, Robert, Adolfo, Hansen, Burger, (and Dunning to a lesser degree), combined with the inability to sign the impact free agents, and this rebuild needs to be decelerated. You've stunk for a few years and we've walked away with a AAAA pitcher in fulmer, an injured reliever in Burdi, a catcher who may not be able to catch in Collins, a 3b who can't field and will likely be a career DH in Burger, and a guy who may never hit more than 8 HR a year in Madrigal. Its time for a change
  15. We always knew he was a hack tho. I want to hear from WSD
  16. Need to tank if you don’t get Harper. If you want impact players for years to come, and you can’t pay them, then you need to be at the top of the draft to find them. And I mean at the top. Not stuck at 12 drafting Jake burger
  17. Absolutely. This is the smart answer, and may be actually correct. Id stomach this much more if we just said “ we don’t think he’s that good.” The stupid answer is saying “well we tried really hard and I’m proud of us”
  18. This is nothing but an absolute disaster. the fan base is irate right now. The rebuild has had more speed bumps than anticipated. This is not what people want to hear, but the best thing for this franchise is to tank another year. What’s the point in marching out the team we have currently + Joc Pederson and a SP and ending up with the 8th pick instead of the 2nd
