  1. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 22, 2007 -> 01:33 PM) He'll still be the co-signer on the the loan though. It seems to be better that he's on the title. That way he can at least get it back and sell it minimizing his loss. If he wasn't he'd be screwed paying it, or letting it ruin his credit without being able to do anything about it. I was thinking he could remove his daughter's name if he is able to show the bank that she is unable/unwilling to pay, and that he will make the payments until he can sell the vehicle.
  2. In Arizona, you can petition the lien holder to remove a name from the title. http://www.azdot.gov/mvd/faqs/scripts/faqs.asp?section=tr (See #20 & 4) It would seem that you could do the same in Illinois. Similar question regarding car titles. If someone abandons a vehicle on my property (it's a rental property), is there a way for me to legally take position and title of the vehicle?
  3. I routinely know 1 of the 10 or 11 songs listed on this thread. Most of the time, I've never even heard of the artists. I'm so stuck in the mid 80s to early 90s. And even then, it's only the stuff that was popular on the radio. One day I'll post my list, and I'll immediately be chased off the board by Kid Gleason or the Critic. Today, my shuffle consisted of old Tony Kornheiser shows, Brandmeiers latest, selected bits yesterday's Adam Carolla show, and Mac Jurko and Harry. I'm afraid to list any of the music I listen to.
  4. I found a pretty good free site with a google search. fftoolbox.com has free leagues and cheat sheets. The best part is that when you register, you can modify the cheat sheets according to the scoring rules in your league. They have a generic default ranking for all the positions and a top 100, but I'm in two leagues with different scoring rules, so drafting is always a little bit of a nightmare. With the customized cheat sheets, I should take my rightful place at the top of both leagues. Of course, I was lucky enough to land the 10th pick in both 10 team leagues.
  5. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 10:00 AM) I'm just ecstatic to see this year's class be two truly professional, admirable human beings. Its a nice change from some of the players currently among the elite active ones. Nice trend. Sandberg was deserving for years, as well, and he made a very good speech at the induction ceremonies that was echoed this year by Gwynn and Ripken.
  6. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 09:49 AM) This is the thing. When you think about Cal Ripken, you compare him with the greatest SS's of all time. When you think of Tony Gwynn, you compare him with the greatest hitters of all time, not just the ones at his position. You compare Ripken to Derek Jeter. You compare Gwynn to Ted Williams. The fact that Ripken is one of the best-hitting shortstops of all time does not make him a better fit for the HOF over Gwynn, one of the greatest hitters, period. Not that you were saying Ripken is more deserving. True, and Gwynn simply does not compare to Williams because he just slapped singles. The reason you consider HOF by position is because some positions take a greater toll physically on a player and, therefore, you can expect the stats to differ from position to position as a result. Comparing the offensive stats of a catcher to those of a 1B is unfair to the catcher. Catchers are compared to other catchers, 1B to 1B, etc. for the HOF. What you're saying about Gwynn being compare to other great hitters is true though. He's compared to players like Wade Boggs.
  7. Gwynn had 3100+ hits, but only 750 for extra bases. That's 2400 singles. For a guy who couldn't run the last ten years of his career, I don't see what all the fuss is about him. Defensively, he was the outfield version of Ripken. He caught anything he could get to, which wasn't much. Early in his career, Gwynn could run and he was a threat to steal, and he was a much more valuable defensive player. He could get on base, but he couldn't steal a base for the last ten years. He drove in 100 runs one time. I'm not arguing with his selection, but he's as flawed a player as Ripken. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/stats?playerId=1150 I agree with much of what has been said of Ripken. Ripken was the first of the modern, slugging shortstops. He'd be in with or without the streak. Without the streak, though, he wouldn't be "Cal Ripken." http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/stats?playerId=789 He had two MVPs & was Rookie of Year. That said, I was always way more scared of Eddie Murrray with the game on the line.
  8. I was trying to find out if Honky Tonk Man wrestled under any other names I might know, and I found a pretty good link with wrestler biographies. http://www.accelerator3359.com/Wrestling/bios/
  9. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 07:52 AM) 3 pages in and no love for Intellivision yet? Heck, I still have mine from when I was a kid (bought in '79 I think) hooked up! Just this summer I found a back-up system at a garage sale, with original manual, for a whopping $0.50!!! We also have my wife's Colecovision hooked up. That one we still have the original box for! Intellivision baseball (where the guys kind of moved like frogs) was great, and they also had a computer add-on with an even better baseball game. It had player names and profiles. Great for the time. Here's a link to the intellivion basketball game. No NBA rights, so Larry Bird was "Larry Hawk." http://www.intvfunhouse.com/games/slam.php I can't believe how dated it looks *tear*.
  10. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 10:11 PM) Anyone who uses the wraparound in 94 is a cheap son of a b****. It's a complete glitch. Tecmobowl 2 had a similar glitch. You could sack the qb on every play with your nosetackle if you just moved him down one step and then made him dive. I had a roommate who played a season by himself and used that move every time to sack the qb. I could never understand how that could possibly be fun. Great game, though.
  11. I'm glad the article points out that when Schilling was in front of Congress he totally backed off earlier statements about the steroid problem in baseball.
  12. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 08:13 PM) Aren't you a male? I'm waiting for the follow-up post asking how to get rid of those pesky bikini lines before I pass judgment.
  13. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 04:05 PM) Back in the day, I got 2 bottles of Michael Jordan cologne for X-mas. I still have one bottle because it smells so bad. Never used it. Good that you worked through a bottle before realizing that you smelled like one of MJ's jockstraps. Your friends must have loved you for that.
  14. Byrnes is a phony hustle type. He times plays so he can dive and jump. This is a career year - he's not worth the money he'll want.
  15. The "Who's Now?" feature on SportsCenter may be the dumbest thing they've ever done. Perfect vehicle for the "talent" of Meshawn and Stu Scott, though.
  16. QUOTE(Beltin @ Jul 12, 2007 -> 09:38 AM) Anyone still think the White Sox are going to go after A-Rod? NY would have to pick up an awful lot of that salary (say 75%) for it to work in this budget. If ARod opts out of his contract, he's no longer a Yankee. Why would they pay 75% of his salary? I don't think he'll get $30 million if he opts out. The Yankees are one of the only teams that can afford to pay that amount - and even they would have trouble doing that and satisfying the rest of their team. Right now, ARod makes $27 million, and Texas pays a good chunk of that. That's why the Yankees want to extend the contract starting in 2010, because Texas is still on the hook for a portion of his salary until then. If ARod opts out, the Yankees will let him walk (he's not a "true Yankee" anyway, right, so the fans wouldn't take it out on management, they'd take it out on ARod). ARod wouldn't want to return to Yankee stadium as a visitor, so he'll end up in the NL with the Cubs or Dodgers. However, there's a pretty good chance he'll take what the Yankees are offering. Nobody is going to make a mistake like the Rangers did and offer him way more than the market price, and with so few teams available to pay big money, he might not even get what he makes now.
  17. You have EIGHT lightbulbs in your bathroom. Al Gore does not like you.
  18. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 10, 2007 -> 04:46 PM) I heard that exact same "smove" story, except it was a guy calling 911 and the word was "smoothie" instead. Ha, perhaps we know the same person, CC. I've heard the exact same story CC wrote from two different people. My sister told me that story 20 years ago about a fireman friend, and the word used was "smoove." My father in law tells the same story (also with "smoove" as the word), but he says he was there on an ambulance assist when it happened. He was a Chicago fireman until 15 years ago. I'm pretty sure this story is an urban myth.
  19. QUOTE(max power @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 09:38 PM) I thought more people would care about the archive threads. I don't as I just discovered the internet in 2006. Personally, I am all for a better faster board. I have a hard copy of each of my posts. They're all pretty brilliant. I'll make copies for anyone interested.
  20. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 05:42 PM) Clearly I'm the only person here without an iPOD/MP3 player. I've had one for six months, but I haven't figured it out yet. I'm sure it would be full of songs and artists most of you have never heard, though.
  21. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 06:40 PM) The Governor of Texas said that once, if I recall correctly. That must be why Knight ended up in Texas. http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/8...eme.html?page=3
  22. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 05:47 AM) I don't get it. Is that about the size of the stinger? It's about the motion in the ocean, and as Bobbee Knight once quipped, "If bee rape is inevitable, just lay back and enjoy it."
  23. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 03:51 PM) I think when I was in Chicago in '87 I stayed at some small motel off the interstate in South Holland. I think you need to have a word with your travel agent.
  24. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 01:07 PM) I think it's because everyone knows Sheff is a intellectual retard. So was John Rocker.
