  1. I think the only way to change your perspective on the season is hope the rest of the division keeps getting worse than we expected, and the Sox hit one of those lucky health streaks in Sept-Oct where everyoneโ€™s actually healthy after the win the division with 81 wins. Then maybe they get hot and give it a ride.
  2. Good game. We should pound the Royals. I hope they can win the next 2.
  3. Giolito was incredible for those three batters.
  4. Man when Luis is in โ€œnintendo numbersโ€ mode, it really is a sight.
  5. Wow, I picked an amazing game to miss entirely due to a work conflict ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
  6. And the problem is that it worked once because they backed into a championship. Itโ€™s like they are the Beverly hillbillies of baseball - they accidentally struck gold in their backyard and got rich, but have no clue they have no clue about anything.
  7. Since 2000, the only time the Sox seem to assemble a winning pitching group is when the scrap heap guys or longshot picks they get for their rotation actually work out, or when longtime mediocre pitchers have a fluke good year or half year. It literally never seems to be FA acquisitions with proven high quality ML talent.
  8. I was very positive while active on this board from 2005-2011, then took about a 6 year break from this site and the White Sox. I started back in in late 2017 and early 2018 and bought everything hook line and sinker with the current plan. Things have definitely changed this year. Iโ€™m definitely using the board somewhat as an outlet for my negative feelings as they occur. Itโ€™s my way of coping, frankly. Andrus is the current posterchild for this โ€œright approachโ€ / โ€œgrinderballโ€ veteran this organization has fallen in love with over the past 20 years. A grindy vet who doesnโ€™t cost anything and the org hopes to scrap heap into an above market value acquisition. Winning the market, unfortunately, usually means youโ€™re a loser in baseball. For those confused by my flip flopping let me clarify - I thought Andrus was a great signing but through 100 PAs he could have used a spell on the bench - a spell he has not gotten. For any game. Yes, we have to throw someone out there, but this guy who is clearly overcooked needs a reset . Do I hope he turns it around? Sure. Do I hope the Sox win with him? Of course. I donโ€™t see it this season. My read is we should all be out, it was too big of a hole to dig. I would LOVE it if Iโ€™m wrong about this. However, if Iโ€™m right, I hope this is a historically bad season that shines a light on how absolutely awful this approach is - and has been - organizationally, one that has existed for the better part of 23 years of watching this team flounder around this silly concept. TL;DR: I hit a breaking point.
  9. Elvisโ€™ OPS has skyrocketed to .555! Can he maintain it above the Bradley line? Time will tell, because now heโ€™s certainly playing all 162 after his breakout performance last night!
  10. Is it? I guess I forgot to feel embarrassed Good for Elvis and the Sox, but he still has a shot to be this bad.
  11. But was Pedro aware that Pedro said pregame that Anderson needed the day off because Pedro said he came back early and was unavailable? Because it seems to me that Pedro didnโ€™t know Pedro said Tim was unavailable today.
  12. This is the last post Iโ€™ll make about TA7 in this thread about the glory of Elvis Andrus, but I want to be clear: Pedroโ€™s response indicated that Tim needed the day off. Tim did not get the day off. They half assed that decision like every other decision in this org. Meanwhile GRINDERMAN Andrus doesnโ€™t miss a PA!
  13. I donโ€™t want to derail this thread further, but TA7 should be playing every day he can. I donโ€™t understand the whole โ€œload managementโ€ strategy the white Sox have employed - it doesnโ€™t seem to effectively minimize future injury anyway. If they are healthy, play your stars, especially in divisional games against your rival that are must win 2 game swings. If youโ€™re going to sit him, sit him in Cincinnati.
  14. Yes. He is no longer injured, so play him. Why is Elvis immune to any days off whatsoever while we sit guys like Anderson and Robert capriciously?
  15. Did 29 year old Tim Anderson need to watch grass grow today while 34 year old Andrus proved he's Cal Ripken come again?
  16. Good people of Soxtalk, "Iron Man" Elvis Andrus, the Unsubstitutable, is on track for an absolutely historic season. As far as I can tell, the single worst OPS season for a hitter in the modern era with a minimum of 400 PAs is Jackie Bradley Jr's 2021. where he slashed an INCREDIBLE .163/.236/.261 for an OPS of .497 And Elvis is on track to perhaps beat that! Entering today's action, Elvis' slash line through the entire season is a hearty .194/.267/.231 for an OPS of .498 Not even beloved SOXTALK figure LEURY LEGEND reached 400 PAs in his magical 2022 season, where over his 315 PAs he had a .500 OPS. The truly wonderful piece of news is that unlike the rest of these LOSERS who Pedro thinks need a day off here and there to watch grass grow, Elvis "GRINDERMAN" Andrus has played EVERY TEAM GAME SO FAR !!! Amazing!!! So Elvis can really do this! What an accomplishment it would be - perhaps a statue is in order?? Now I know what you're about to ask! You're excited and want to know - What can we do as fans to help? We, as fans, need to encourage Pedro "GENIUS" Grifol to continue to play Elvis Andrus in EVERY TEAM GAME, as it's clear that our very own IRON MAN absolutely NEVER needs a day off - not one to clear his head, not one for injury, not one for the good of the team, not for any sort of change of pace. Nope, Elvis "Iron Man" Andrus is the very heart and soul of the 2023 GRINDERBALL White Sox campaign! We're all rooting for you, Elvis! History awaits!
  17. Sitting Anderson is inexcusable unless heโ€™s injured. I donโ€™t understand the way our organization now insists on babysitting these players who are in their friggin twenties and early thirties.
  18. This is a totally different team with Tim Anderson. More than anyone else, he changes everything.
  19. I personally think Robert will be fine as a keeper, but it depends on how your stats work.
  20. Looks like three helpings of crow is on the menu for me tonight, boys! Wow.
  21. Sox need to score in the 9th or itโ€™s an auto loss
