QUOTE(chisox72 @ Jul 11, 2007 -> 10:15 PM) these Japanese wasps sound pretty cool. It will be a bug war in the Ash forests of America... I dont know if i am as excited about a new species of wasps, or any bug for that matter.... the last time bugs were imported for such resons, they have become a nuisance (the aisan beetle/brown lady bug) though they say that the asian ash trees over there are immune to the beetle, why dont we get some of those ash trees?

QUOTE(The Critic @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 04:03 PM) Doesn't this actually make Mark MORE attractive to possible trade partners, since he won't be a "rental" anymore and his salary would be locked in for five years? that's not even funny! heh -

QUOTE(3E8 @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 03:50 PM) So it's a $19M player option if he's traded? That's the only way to get to $75M from $56M. Not consistent with what we heard yesterday.. eh, maybe the news about the sox rejecting the 17mil was just that... they wanted him to get more $$ if he got traded -

somebody has got to figure out what the email address naming scheme is used inside the white sox. email the heck out of them something

there's got to be more than what berry is letting on, or KW is stupid there must be something else that goes with that 5th year option they suggested. either that or kw is affraid that the 17 mil option would be a roadblock to a trade later down the road. QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 11:32 PM) Somebody please update me on what is going on?! What happened? reports are that mark's camp removed their full NTC demand, and offered a clause that would kick in a 5th year to the contract if he is traded.... sox theoretically woudldnt be on the hook for the 5th year, or the money, unless they had to pay some of that 5th year to trade him. reports from espn say that the sox rejected the offer, mark said something about the deal being off the table then on back on the table again, or something. kw said he didnt know anything about taking an offer off the table, the sox 'only added to' the offer. i swear this is like 2 weeks straight of april fools days......

White Sox vs. Twins, Game 1 of DH, 7/06/07 (L)

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 04:50 PM) that man is in a deep dark funk at the plate right now. What a shame he couldn't make contact. i'd have rather sent gonzalez up than aj... he's just not with it now. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 05:37 PM) I would. At least that would add a little excitement and suspense to the game. excitement & suspense = 50 mph meatball pitches??? -

QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 05:28 PM) Why the hell is Nick Massett still on this team? you'd rather have charlie haeger? -
obviously mark is going to put a quirky spin on it to fool the media, but it is what it is, i dont think mark is going to budge-- i didnt see anyplace that said it was an intentional joke.... not that it would happen, but it would set some things in place, i think, if mark actually addressed the NTC. not likely, but would be nice
-
i really wish JR would lay the smack down and give kw the what-for and grant the NTC, but it doesnt look likely
-
it is quite possibe that burls will demand a no-trade from whatever team he signs with in the off-season, if the sox do not lock him up. he seems the type to want to have his family settled and not be moving around... so no amount of maneuvering on the sox side will help. i just cant see KW giving in on this, unfortunately.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 06:20 PM) I know this won't be said, but both sides are playing some hardcore staredown games here. If this deal really doesn't happen, its pretty sad because of how close they really are. That being said, with it this close, I'll bet someone blinks. eh... at this point, if the sox blink, it will be a blink like the jeanie, sending burls somewhere else, from the looks of it

QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 11:09 PM) What do you make of Philly scouts at the game? Who do you think they are looking at? Aaron Rowand, end of story

QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 04:01 PM) I don't see why Ichiro would want to sign with a declining Sox team. I'm assuming that part of Ichiro's decision to sign with Seattle was the city's large Japanese/Asian population. He won't find that in Chicago, so I don't see what incentive he has to go there unless JR and KW break the bank for him (unlikely). it was just a hypothetical.... dont go all crazy on an ichiro debate here, that's been hammered on elsewhere in the forum......
-
if mark doesnt sign the contract, i dont think that neccessarily means that kenny trades him. if contreras gets a better package, i'd look for contreras to go, and keep mark for the year. weather or not they revisit extension at the end of the year would be doubtful. kenny said he wanted to get the ball rolling on his retooling, not that he wanted to sign or trade..... but it could go either way
