  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 09:40 PM) Well, it seems like there are some pretty legit concerns that both Crede and Linebrink might be out for the rest of the season...from everything we're hearing and NOT hearing. Who would have thunk that Juan Uribe and Alexei Ramirez would be two very key starters in our infield...and that they'd be leading the White Sox in the heat of a pennant race in August? Juan really looks relaxed out there now. He is contributing nicely and I like to see him succeed, it just sucks that he has to be benched to show how decent-good he can be. Alexei just amazes me, the guy just doesnt stop. Every time I think he has met his match and pitchers are going to start doing this and that to him, he adjusts. And yet he still maintains the same aggressiveness throughout each and every at bat, he is just so much fun to watch.
  2. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 11:52 AM) Yes, if he was threatening all of them or as someone said, the driver, and they were all in danger i can see the correlation and i'd agree people would probably band together to protect themselves. But with this stroy, at the point when everyone would have realized what was going on, it was too late for the victim. I just cant see, or justify, putting yourself and others at risk to approach a psychopath with a knife just to prevent him from mutilating the body. That may seem callous, but the guy was already dead, at this point there isnt anything anyone can do. And I understand this. Im not arguing any of it. I am just saddened by the situation, thats all
  3. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 11:44 AM) That is entirely different and i dont think that analogy really works well here. I see what he is saying though. A bunch of people with their lives in danger trapped in a public transportation vehicle. If he was threatening all of them and they had no way to leave the bus, it would be a better analogy. As the stories stand though, it doesnt fully apply. but not totally offbase
  4. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 07:24 AM) I just gotta add, that down 2 runs and only 1 out you do NOT send Thome to make the second out at the plate that inning. That is bad base coaching. That was so insanely dumb, and I am pretty sure Cox knew it as soon as Thome turned the corner. You could see him saying "stupid, stupid" to himself after the play. I dont knwo what the heck he was thinking. Cox waved his arm as Raburn fielded the ball, it wasnt like the ball was still skipping around

QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 7, 2008 -> 11:54 PM) Yeah, it's a classic scene with two screen giants. Only after watching it for a second time do you realize the significance of Hopper asking for a cigarette during that conversation. The reason I like it so much is Hoppers confidence in what he is saying, and Walken clearly getting riled up by it, but keeping a smile on his face. And the cigarrette is awesome too, a man waiting for the firing squad with a cig in his mouth.
  6. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 07:02 AM) Danks already did add a splitter...? That's the big difference in him from this year and last, the fact that he can attack the strike zone at will now and keep hitters off balance. I recall Fields commenting on the fact that he couldn't hit Danks's new splitter in ST. But if he could add another bailout pitch, that wouldn't hurt of course. So many jokes, so little space
  7. QUOTE (Texsox @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 07:41 AM) The goal is to stop him from hurting anyone else. They accomplished that goal. By any sort of direct man to man confrontation, you increase the likelihood that someone else would be hurt. If there was someone trapped in the bus with him, then by all means grab some weapons and get going. Defiling the body? If it's me being defiled, please do not risk your life to save my corpse. Just be a great witness at the prosecution and make sure the guy never is paroled. Like I said, Im not saying anyone SHOULD do something, and I probably wouldnt do something. Im just surprised there wasnt someone on the bus who said "There is no way Im letting this happen"
  8. Its easy to sit back and say what you would or would not have done. In a situation so horrible, nobody can be for sure on how they would react, because some people have a "switch" in certain situations that makes them do wierd things. Seeing someone lose their life in such an awful way, and to continue to watch the killer defile the body would be a lot for anyone to take. I am surprised one of those people didnt take a crowbar or wrench and go after him. Im not saying thats what they should have done, but there is always a hero or someone who feels like they need to do something in a situation like that. I understand the "he is already dead, save yourself" mentality. It is just sad to think about for me that these people had to stand by while this guy butchered an innocent person for no apparent reason
  9. Well, he doesnt look like he is going by political party. He just doesnt seem to like politics in general
  10. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 11:59 PM) He had a knife....and he was sawing some guy's head off......and he was eating him. Would you f*** with him? I dont know what I would do. Thats why its so scary.

QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 10:31 PM) So many great lines in that film, but it contains my all time favorite: Walken: "Do you know who I am?" Hopper: "I give up, who are you?" Walken: "The anti Christ. You get me in a vendetta kind of mood and you can tell the angels in heaven you've never seen evil so singularly personified as in the face of the man who killed you." I think that whole discussion between the two of them is awesome, but due to the graphic racist nature of the end of the conversation, I will not quote it for anyone.
  12. I have a griffin Itrip that is now 4 years old, and only in the last 3 months has it given me any problems. My buddy has the itrip that is a dock that you plug into your lighter and he loves it. They arent that cheap, they range from 40-100 bucks, but you can find them on ebay too.
  13. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 7, 2008 -> 09:17 AM) He played on the Sox opening day, I know I was there to see him. Maybe it was not clear, but I was comparing Griffey playing his first home game, to the White Sox playing their home opener (opening day for the Sox at home). CQ was on the field that day, although Ramirez was not. The way I look at it, managers put players in a position to succeed in order to win. Griffey was facing off against a lefthander, and continued to face tough lefthanders for the rest of the game until extra innings, where he faced a nearly unhittable Rodney, he really wasnt in a position to succeed I wouldnt have minded if Griffey say vs Robertson and faced verlander, I am not of the "He is Griffey so you must play him" mindset
  14. Danks had an absolutely filthy outside changeup to righthanders, set up by his cutter on the hands, and he used the cutter vs lefties to sneak onto the inside corner. Toby Hall called a really nice game last night, Danks looked really good out there

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 03:57 PM) I recently watched it for the first time and thought it was meh. It's probably the high expectations from friends boasting about it to me for the past few years. You probably heard every quote possible from the movie without actually seeing it. I can imagine that making the movie less funny
  20. I know its a source of pride and I would love if the Sox farm system produced more ML talent that made an impact with the Sox, but at the same time I just want a team on the field who will win. If it has to come from other farm systems, so be it
  21. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 01:19 PM) Indeed. I did find it odd that we had 3 lefties in the lineup against Robertson. But how could you bench Jr in his first home game? Hasnt Thome been pretty good against lefties this year?
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 01:06 PM) Exactly. Im pretty sure that was sarcasm from SB, I dont think he meant that
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 12:46 PM) Sean Gallagher to the DL with possibly a blown out shoulder. Cubs trading damaged goods?

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 12:42 PM) Brad Pitt rules in his small role. "Don't condescend me, man. I'll f*cking kill you, man!" I like when he offers the mobster hitmen his bong and realizes they have guns in thier hands. "Do you want some? Oh, ok"
