QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) I sure didn't think it was a bad thing...might lose something in the power numbers, but should gain a fair amount in average/OBP, and improve our defense at 1st as well. Im just asking because you were saying it was the other side of the coin. I thought you were saying "and this is the bad part of the deal...." just a misinterpretation

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 01:46 PM) re-signing Kong and Crede in arbitration would cost just as much. Ha, re-signing Crede. Thats a laugher. Bora$$ probably has a 250 page packet of information about how great Crede is, ready to submit to the first sucker GM in line.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 01:44 PM) Let's not forget about the other side of that coin...we'd also be replacing Crede with Gload in the order. this is a bad thing?

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 01:36 PM) His season high for BA is .288, yet he will make 10+ million a year for the next 3 years... Well, Pauly is currently making 8 million a year and his career BA is .278. I dont see how this is so bad, theoretically you are trading one powerful bat for another(if Konerko is allowed to walk), PLUS you have a very good defensive third basemen in the deal. My only question in the deal is who goes to the A's. Beane is historically good at getting something for nothing.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 12:44 PM) I don't really like his attitude. He's been on the A's his whole career and they've always contended. Now, they hit their first rough season and he sounds like he's already got one foot out the door. , Mr. Chavez. Think about all of the teamates that have been interchanged around him since he started with the team, though. Im sure in the back of his mind he feels somewhat jilted that the A's havent gone deeper into the playoffs, or even won the whole thing at some point. But every year Beane cinches it up and is forced to deal one piece or another for the future. Maybe Chavez is at a point in his career where he wants a little more stability on the field around him, and he doesnt see that happening with the A's anymore. I dont even see them as having a rough season, either. they always seem to start slow and have a huge second half, only to putter out in the playoffs.

    I Love Ozzie

QUOTE(The Critic @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 10:30 AM) HAHAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! Yeah, I did miss that line!!! OK, so there was one unnecessary potshot, but it was a funny one! Maybe Brantley had flashbacks of standing on the bullpen mound, NOT getting called in to a tight game, and it made him angry.... According to the trib, Brantley filmed a segment on the field yesterday before the Sox took batting practice. he was in front of the dugout for his segment, and left before the Sox came out. I wonder what the content of the segment is????

    Interesting Buerhle Quotes About Coaches

QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 10:02 AM) From today's Tribune: "I think from everyone's standpoint, everyone gets along well" said Buehrle. "Pitchers like the hitting coach and the hitters like Coop. I won't mention any names, but during my first years here there was a hitting coach who couldn't stand pitchers and he was going off on us. We didn't really like him, either." Checking past media guides, the likely suspects are either Von Joshua or Gary Ward. This also says something about the control the manager had over his staff, I think. That speaks volumes about Manuel's "control" of the White Sox in his tenure. What a crock. Why would a hitting coach yell at a pitcher for any reason outside of personal reasons?

    I Love Ozzie

QUOTE(The Critic @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 10:22 AM) I thought Ozzie handled this one well. No unnecessary shots, just a slight jab in the context of his point. And Brantley was flipping out, I thought he was a little too emotionally charged in his criticism. Not saying he didn't have a point, just that he seemed unusually upset about it. I agree about Brantley being charged up about it. He seemed really pissed when Ozzie didnt go to Hermanson. I have seen Brantley on a few BBTN's and i get the distinct feeling that he feels the Sox are a flash in the pan and will fall off soon.

DJ - I hate it when you analyze

QUOTE(3E8 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 07:07 AM) DJ once told this story about Joe Carter having so many RBI's with such a low average and threw out some strange numbers. I looked it up later that evening, and he had exagerrated by about 15%. I remember that. I think he said that Joe Carter batted .215, had over 30 homeruns, and drove in 120. I thought to check it myself, but then realized that it wasnt worth my time to check into everything that DJ says. That could be a full time job.

What can the Sox do ...

keep on winnin. There is no better way to draw fans than to put a great product on the field. That is unless you trick everyone into believing that if you hang out and get wasted at a park 80 times a year, regardless of the product on the field, that it is a good time.

DJ - I hate it when you analyze

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 07:03 AM) 47 homers. Yes he would have hit that in our "loaded" line-up according to some. LOL, Anthrax would have Russ Ortiz penciled in for 250 strikeouts too.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 31, 2005 -> 05:48 PM) Fine, I can accept your opinion. By the way, 20-2 now. just out of random curiosity, are you the youngest child Jabroni? That last little "20-2" stinger is right out of my brothers book.

QUOTE(Fotop @ May 31, 2005 -> 05:17 PM) LOL, it went completely over my head...mostly because I don't know what to expect out of people around here. But good show w/the sarcasm there. right back atcha

QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ May 31, 2005 -> 05:14 PM) Green? Sorry, Im not used to the whole green thing, I will work on it though. I thought the sarcasm in my statement was pretty obvious though

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 31, 2005 -> 05:02 PM) And Cruddy is so much better defensively that we have to deal with his craptacular bat of despair. I think Randa and his superior fielding percentage and Zone rating would be ok as a replacement. Shame on you for talking about the actual discussion. I just dont know how you can live with yourself.

QUOTE(qwerty @ May 31, 2005 -> 04:54 PM) When it comes to defense i realized people look at errors and nothing but errors. My response was based more on "Top SS", not "Top Defensive SS". I would have had a vastly different answer if I am considering defense only. First and Foremost I would have Vizquel as my top defensive SS. He may have lost some range due to old age(although it isnt much of a dropoff), but he is still as sure-handed as anyone.

QUOTE(qwerty @ May 31, 2005 -> 04:44 PM) Lol @ of jeter. Now talk about a butcher cheesus lice. If he was such a butcher, I dont think he would have 4 rings. He makes the plays he needs to, doesnt kill himself with errors. If Jeter was on any other team than the Yankees, I would really like him. Hell, I still like watching him play. He certainly doesnt make excuses, and he still plays the game hard.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 31, 2005 -> 04:38 PM) hell yes I agree. I just love your pic and had to comment on it. Actually, I didnt read it that hard. I would say top 10, but not top 3. There is a third baseman in new york who is better than most of the SS in the league. Then you have Tejada, Jeter, Cabrera and a few others that could make the choice really hard.
