That would be awesome if it happens. Doesn't Atlanta have a top ten pick? That would be the steal of the century. Not sure why they wouldn't just try to trade down though...

it would be super awesome, and yea Atlanta is picking 8 and Steelers are 20.

following up: Jerry Reinsdorf takes case for ballpark funding to Springfield

Jerry Reinsdorf made his visit to Springfield to make an in-person case with Illinois leadership for $1 billion in subsidies for a new South Loop ballpark, and if he angled for a charm offensive, he didn’t show that hand to the media.

He used the word “cordial” with regards to meetings, but he was shorter on words when the media asked about any specifics for his request:

He said he didn’t know if any legislation would be filed during the spring session pertaining to his proposal. When asked about the specifics of his request to lawmakers, Reinsdorf replied, “Come on, that’s enough fellas.”

    And:

Isabel: Sir, why do the White Sox need another subsidy after being…

Reinsdorf: Oh, I don’t want to talk about that.

For those capable of cognitive dissonance, it’s tough to square up being as dismissive of the public as Reinsdorf is, while asking for all of its money (Illinois has a $900 million budget shortfall). The question is whether Reinsdorf’s blithe disregard for the general populace will end up hurting him …

… or whether a lot of this has already been generally agreed to, and everybody’s just going through the motions.

Lip, is this entire article lifted from soxmachine?  If it is, you need to edit it down asap

Maybe Reinsdorf didn’t ok the leak. Maybe the story wasn’t leaked by the Sox at all. Maybe the Cubs leaked it. The Cubs certainly can’t be doing cartwheels over the possibility of this deal coming to fruition. The Cubs and their fans and their sports media lackeys whom they give nice Christmas presents to would be doing cartwheels if the Sox fled the state.

Maybe monkeys will fly out of my butt

Yep. The current setup at GRF is very kid friendly. Pretty easy to park and head right into the stadium. A stadium in the south loop is going to awesome for the younger crowd. Not so much of a draw for suburban families and old timers.

As a suburban family man I wholly disagree that a brand new park is not so much of a draw because people party afterwards lol.

The one worked out pretty well for the chargers. The Elway one did not do so well for the Colts.

Ah yea you are correct, twice with Elway.  I just don’t think Caleb is gonna have the sway

i also would question if it worked out pretty well for the chargers as Eli went and won two titles in New York and the chargers still are without

Even if it was true, there’s a difference between saying he doesn’t want to play for the Bears versus he won’t. How many players are really drafted to a team they want to go to? And this whole idea of wanting to go to Washington because he grew up nearby; well it didn’t impact where he went to college

Eli Manning happened once and it took a hell of a lot to make that happen.  I don’t think Caleb’s dad is a retired NFL QB with the cache that the Manning family has in the NFL
