  1. I was at the game where Ventura hit 2 grand slams. He was always booed mercilessly in Arlington due to the Ryan incident; he finally shut the crowd up, if only for a game.
  2. Sox missed a chance to have Cannon pitching for the Cannon Ballers
  3. I agree, probably the worst seasons in my 40+ years of loving the Sox. thanks so much for posting these every day...its greatly appreciated
  4. Great job by Bummer tonight--real clutch pithing from a guy who couldn't buy a break the 1st half of the year.
  5. Growing up in Houston, the Astros were always my NL/2nd team to the Sox. After the cheating scandal I loathe them. LFG Sox!!!
  6. Any idea why Yermin was pulled?
  7. Was just thinking the same thing. He and Jason have great chemistry also
  8. Ricky has to go, and I don't say that just because of the boneheaded handling of the bullpen last night. He simply isn't the person to take the Sox to the next level.
  9. 74th my left nut, Frank is easily in the top 50. He got screwed by playing so much of his career in the roid era. Normalize for that and you’ve got a completely different calculation.
  10. It feels inevitable that Collins will be gifted to the A’s in a boneheaded trade and then spend the next decade posting .850 obs seasons
  11. I know he’s not a flamethrower, but any intel on how hard Kubat throws? I know he’s 26 in AA but the dude’s been lights out,to say the least.
  12. Good frickin grief Ricky, are you even watching the game? Gio waz gassed
  13. I really hate sounding whiney but I’ve been a hardcore sox fan since the late ‘70s and I just don’t don’t how much more of this i can take. For 6 excruciating years we see first hand avi can’t hit ANYTHING that has movement to it and we throw him freaking fastballs? Really?
  14. Ah, the early signs of spring: the days grow longer, flowers bloom, newborn fawns take their first awkward steps after the long, hard winter and ‘Player X is in the best shape of his life’ articles fly across the internet. Holy hell everyone, we’re finally getting close to having around baseball again!
  15. Great list! I’d switch Gonzalez and Basabe and maybe even move Rutherford ahead of him. I also think Collins continues to be underrated-yes he’ll probably never have a pretty BA or win a gold glove but the power and OBP more than make up for that at a premium position. For this upcoming year I expect Bryce Bush to rocket up the list. Hopefully Alec Hansen will bounce back and do the same, and if Gavin sheets can find even a moderate amount of power he could easily get into next years top 10.
  16. Har-old!!! Very surprised and very stoked for HB and the organization
  17. Even though he reminds me of a lefty-hitting Rangel Ravelo I would have hung on to Yurchak for at least another year. Bet he probably hits somewhere between GF last year and Kanny this season which wouldn’t be terrible. Too bad he couldn’t stick at 3rd.
  18. At this way-too-early to speculate time, I’m having a hard time seeing how Rutschman falls to us. A switch hitting catcher with good pop, a strong hit tool and adequate or better defense. Then again Matt Wieters and buster posey had similar profiles and both lasted to #5 in average draft classes. That said, I’d be ecstatic if we got Vaughn if Rutcshman was already gone. I get the whole not wanting to draft a 1B so early but you also can’t talk yourself out of picking up the best hitter in the entire class, no matter where he plays. We had a kid from Auburn fall to us for that very reason a long while ago and that worked out pretty well...
  19. I couldn’t disagree more. He is more than holding his own at a level higher (I believe) than any other ‘18 draftees. His BABIP indicates he’s hitting in some bad luck while maintaining the best contact rate in the system-by far-if not all of pro baseball. His D has been praised and he apparently is a guy who is willing to work and make adjustments and do what he needs to do to grow. He may never crack 10 hrs a year but if he continues to improve from the baseline rate he’s established as indicated by his performance so far this year....dude’s going to be fine.
  20. At home, caught the last couple innings and then scared my then 1 y/o daughter with all my screaming and cheering. I also have to agree with hawk, wise’s catch might have been the best one I’ve ever seen given the circumstances. I had forgot how it popped out of his glove and he juuuuuust was able to barehand it. Freaking awesome all the way around. MB will forever be the man
  21. Has to be a 'Coop will fix him' joke in here somewhere
