So why is he here? It's one thing if he was a hack with no future, like oh I don't know, Nick Williams... but aside from not getting crucial-to-his-development AB's it's going to be burn a year of his Sox career. It sucks. There's no defending this

He's here because the manager doesn't control the 26 man active roster. He's not playing, because our manager has one foot in the grave and has been out of the game throughout the entire statistical revolution.

    Don’t forget lack of shifting

It sucks. So much ass is sucked by the decision to allow this to happen. AJ Hinch was ready and willing to bring a 2021 strategy to this team, and we're out here with something worse than anything Ozzie Guillen was trying in his final years.

I don't know how they expect Vaughn to get better riding the pine. I'm just beyond pissed at the start to this season, because the problems that we're facing are being forced upon the roster for no reason other than bad decisions. The Sox are signing Billy Hamilton in a post-Billy Hamilton MLB world for every other team in the league.

Why can't they just play their best damn players.

  3. I'm so glad we hired Tony LaRussa so this team could be managed like a 1999 National League roster. We're plucking guys off the street and dumping them into our lineup over our top prospect whom we're burning a year of service time for in order to have available. He has hits in his last two appearances and a .353 OBP in 13 games, and he's sitting for career nomads when we're desperate for a bat like his in the lineup.

The LaRussa hire can kiss my ass.

I see that Sox fans aren’t allowed to point out that a trade is extremely poor long term value and only makes us marginally better next year. Got it. We are just supposed to trade a dollar for 6 years in a row as long as we get back 1.10 next year. Brilliant.

People can say what they want. For example, you can post this despite its inaccuracies and sadly no one can make you do some research first. You get to click. The agreement, however, is we get to reply.

Adding a legitimate workhorse ace over Dunning and his career 34 innings and inability to go 6 is a marginal upgrade for this season is the shittest of takes ive read in awhile.

Quintana was an extremely valuable commodity at the time and there were numerous suitors. This trade we maybe win the trade next year and lose substantially after that. If he were an ace I’d be ok, but “This is Lance Lynn ffs”.

You’re clearly ignorant of how good Lance Lynn is. Take a moment to educate yourself and then come back here. He puts any season Quintana’s thrown to complete shame.

One reason you know it’s an awful trade? The Sox have never been able to pull off such a trade in reverse. Hahn needs to trade an established player with multiple years of term left to get a good young cost controlled player. He’d never be able to do this trade.

What on earth am I reading here. This is Dane Dunning ffs. Hahn turned Jose Quintana into Eloy Jimenez and Dylan Cease. Am I in the twilight zone?

The problem is by this time next year we will have neither Dunning nor Lynn.

By this time next year, we have a better chance of hoping to open Sox World Champions gear on Christmas morning than we did 40 minutes ago.

that’s the window we’re in now, not some pray the 26 year old nobody turns into the second coming window.

  8. Lynn, 33, has been excellent the last two years with the Rangers, delivering a combined 3.57 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and 335 strikeouts in 292 1/3 innings (46 starts) while garnering down-ballot American League Cy Young Award votes.

But yeah we gave up a 26 year old with 7 starts and 34 IP under his arm so Soxtalk is getting out the pitchforks. /s

Negative reactions tonight are only one of two things: ignorant or insane. Can be both I guess.

And the front office who hired Renteria should not be the ones replacing Renteria.

    • The Blackhawks won three recent Stanley Cups and McDonough was held accountable.
    • Gar / Pax left with a winning cumulative record, and some playoff success (and executive of the year honors)
    • Maddon won a World Series and was let go three seasons later.

Meanwhile Kenny "One Shining Moment" Williams is entering a third decade in a senior role, Don Cooper will die (could be dead already) as pitching coach, and Rick Hahn has zero winning seasons, whether "trying" or "tanking".  Time to clean house from top to bottom, though unlikely to happen with Reinsdorf's group. Must be nice to screw up your job and write yourself a five year extension "plan", and then blame others when your draft selections and free agent signings have failed on a consistent basis, with success limited to tanking trades netting people drafted by others and Cuban signings, now restricted with the rule changes / spending caps.

Holy shit, man. You want Hahn fired... now? The vision is finally coming together and you want him fired?

Calm tf down. Ricky has to go. He will this off-season.

What blows my mind is how many people on this board seem to think Lynn is some ho him pitcher or something. The man is very good, well well above average. Could make the argument he would have at least temporarily been our number one starter.

Eh. Giolito's doing amazing things. I'd go 1B, but Lynn is one awesome fat fuck.
