  1. kinda stating the obvious but if tim and jake were still here the sox would've won 🤷‍♂️
  2. JR couldn't afford this even after shedding around 20M from cease and the eventual 20M saved from moncada and maybe 30M from eloy. he's too poor Being the worst team in the league and drafting 10th is going to feel so good
  3. the tax rate isn't the reason people don't want to come to Chicago🤣
  4. Sox should at least offer Montgomery a 2/50 opt out contract or something around a 3/60🤷‍♂️ just to give fans something to watch this season
  5. with Montgomery and Snells price collapsing, what would be the major downside of signing Montgomery to a 2/3 year opt-out contract? (Snell would cost a QO pick) I just find it funny there's a chance Thorpe will be the team ace when he's called up. Sox are picking #10 next year anyways... At least give us fans 25 fun games to watch this season 🤷‍♂️
  6. Gov. Pritzker announces plans to demolish, rebuild Stateville and Logan prisons The governor's office estimated construction costs at $805 million to $935 million to tear down and rebuild the two prisons. https://www.cbsnews.com/chicago/news/jb-pritzker-stateville-logan-prisons-demolition-reconstruction/ "my number-one concern is prioritizing the dollars and making sure the taxpayers are getting a return on their investment." 🤣
  7. I really hope Kjerstad and Ortiz wasn't the O's offer 🤣
  8. fangraphs has Iriarte as the padres best pitching prospect. 61 overall... but neither made keith laws list. O's still could've easily beat this trade but meh time will tell I guess this thread was a fun one😆
  9. notable prospects? has to be 2 of Thorpe/Lesko/Snelling Riiight???
  10. they better have paid the 1.5x price ugh
  11. this is the perfect time for the O's to finally offer Kjerstad and Norby for Cease 😁
  12. "And unless a case is made that the investment yields a long-term return for the taxpayers that we can justify in some way, I haven’t seen that yet." Is he suggesting they should also propose opening a migrant camp on the 78? 🤣 of the $50B in his budget I wonder how much of that actually "yields a long-term return for the taxpayers"
  13. a lot of people seem ignorant to how the world really works. At the end of the day, JR and JB are on the same team. Billionaires look out for other billionaires... you're also forgetting that the newest Sox shareholder (30%) has assets worth over double JRs and didn't just buy in to stay at 35th when a prime location is available. The money is already there but JR is doing his due diligence to squeeze as much juice as he can. the most interesting scenario to come out of all this seems to be the bears building on the north parking lots. A perfect storm is brewing where everyone wins.
  14. O's might as well pay the premium now instead of at the deadline. They had the extra leverage of always being able to offer Ortiz at the break for the best SP but got lucky when the brewers gave up early.
  15. just when I thought I was out they pull me back in pushing through an UCL tear has to suck knowing on any pitch it could snap
  16. if none of those teams could've outbid the O's offer for Burnes I doubt any of them had a serious offer for Cease...
  17. this seems like a win now trade. There's still 2 great SPs left to choose from to build a .500 team.......😅
  18. seemed like a really bad trade until I looked at DeLoachs stats and realized hes our new backup LF/RF lol. a 35+ grade but did pretty well in AAA 🤷‍♂️ Berroa has nasty stuff with no command but selling on Santos was probably the right move edit: did not see the fletcher trade 😆
  19. holy s%*# what a nasty trade. Brewer fans should be pissed bravo O's GM, good job
  20. We've all accepted that cease will degrade into a 33 year old cease for the 2024 season. that's why his value only tops out at a joey ortiz 1:1 trade.
  21. I fully support the O's trading Mayo for Luzardo 😆 gotta pay that premium to force the marlins out of a wildcard position.
  22. We're sitting on cowser as the current (rumored) main piece and you want to downgrade to westburg? no shot. I see the O's moving forward with Kjer as their LF/RF and eventually cashing out on cowser. Getz still wants Mayo tho...
  23. Jones is too risky with his already destroyed elbow. Lets just wait for snell to sign and the O's offer Mayo 🙏
  24. cowser will not replace hays in LF until 2026. So you're willing to hoard 3 best case 50 grade RFs for an extra 2 years instead of building the best AL team in 24/25? okay Face it, Mayo and Kjer have no place on the orioles and your GM is just going to waste their primes...
