  1. If you can’t convert on a tailor made future HoF free agent for you org in his absolute prime because he went at the lower end of the anticipated market rate, and you have “planned” for this...you deserve all the criticism and barbs you will get. Have at it @Whitesoxa6
  2. Based on my 3ish months of research, I think White Sox have best offer to Machado. padres have intimated that they would match but need to exceed by a bit and have pitched creative ways (deferrals, signing bonus etc)...but in the end, in today’s dollars, the white Sox (who will front load contract to afford more talent later) still have best offer. If not for Padres trying this smoke and mirrors, it would be done already. but it will be done and likely shortly
  3. You da man teo! You are like our Hector! Maybe you are Hector?!?
  4. Hector begging every one of these top guys to recognize him. When Rosenthal breaks the signing, he will need to send 3 tweets to fit all the Hector first with #Machado to White Sox being “possible”, “interesting”, “very likely”, “hmmmm”, “as I have said”, “matches his source”
  5. Rick Hahn: “Hey Yoan, take reps at 3rd at the beginning of spring training, and I guarantee that you’ll never have to play 3rd again.” Calls Lozano, asks if he saw Yoan playing third and seals deal.
  6. ok, SoxTalk poster that is really this guy...what do you know?!?
  7. With or without Manny, are we expecting a playoff team?!? I think the fun this year will be hopeful improvements from the MLB youth, graduations of future stars Eloy, maybe Cease and a few other hopeful major league regulars. I’m excited to see some growth in specific players more than team wins as a whole.
  8. It’s usually not the beverage itself but the ice (made from tap water?) you used to make it cold.
  9. 80%...look at their division. And worst case, prospects (top end and depth) can be traded for stars as needed.
  10. I think we need a juicy twitter rumor, @Orlando or else we are left w the “poop” guy searching for Manny in every single SoxTalk thread since the beginning of time. 😂
  11. 4 quotes from Hahn need rehashing at this point: 1) “we’ve planned for this off season” 2) “we absolutely belong at the table” 3) “we will go down swinging” 4) quoted Theo or Friedman (I believe): “will never sign free agent if sensible about it” so where do we stand: 1) focused on top 2 prizes and reputable sources say still in it for both 2) they are still at the table despite all the rumors of “stupid money”, “rounding third”, other teams’ “multiple meetings” in last month 3) currently still swinging as they are still in it...even if planted rumors of other higher offers are true 4) they knew 10/325+ expectations of top 2 coming in and still pursued aggressively and in what seems like a depressed market, might even make sense to keep hat in for both, throwing “financial sensibility” to the wind.
  12. Oof, mostly gloom and doom on here right now. I’ll check back in an hour or so when the wave is back on cautious optimism.
  13. Yes, the payment would be in florida (he lives in Miami) where there are no state taxes...and not playing baseball so it’s pure income from home residence. Sox can easily counter by 1) front loading contract and 2) promising their “deferral” as a team ambassador role for life, which is what Thome, Thomas and others (GarPax?) have pitched to Bryce and Manny
  14. Good points. Fair enough that perhaps we’d have closed this up sooner in that scenario. I just feel like the Sox would know a “buy now” price if it actually existed, otherwise $290 million thrown out becomes “$310 and it’s done”
  15. Actually, this is the exact reason why you don’t bid against yourself. You jump the Padres bid, if in fact it’s higher. If you had done this earlier and maybe gone 290, and Padres came in at 280 w deferrals, than you overbid by at least 10 million.
  16. Anyone seen Dick Allen and J. Michael Robertson in the same room at the same time?!? 😂😂
  17. Padres main weapon is a big signing bonus that isn’t state taxed (while manny has a Florida residence). Guess who else has plenty of money to throw around as a signing bonus...the White Sox. SD just making Sox pay more than they would have 2 weeks ago but still under what they budgeted 2 years ago, probably
  18. Do we really think that White Sox thought it would cost $250 million or less for Manny?!? I like the silence on White Sox (other than being on the periphery of tweets and of course our own Hector Woo Woo) as they operate well this way.
  19. Maybe a translation issue again but 8/$250 is not all too similar to 8/$240 WITH MONEY DEFERRED
  20. Dec 1: Sox 7/175...Manny waits for 10/350 Jan 1: Sox 7/210...Manny waits for 10/325 Feb 1: Sox 8/250...Manny waits for 10/300 March 1: Sox & Manny meet at 9/275...and March 1 declared Hector Gomez Day on Soxtalk
  21. That’s not mutually exclusive if Manny is basing preference on $$, which is very likely.
  22. This is spot on...our very own teoray23 is wetbutt23. Let’s take it a step further: Rick Hahn sitting on a towel during Wednesday’s presser...Rick Hahn is wetbutt23 and thus teoray23.
  23. I don’t know who this is but he kinda predicted the Super Bowl outcome...
