  1. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 07:45 PM) You might be out of luck. The Cubs' broadcast is on WCIU, which is a Chicago-only station. Thanks I am paying for MLB TV but for some reason it keeps saying that I am blackout restricted. I know I have watched a couple of games with MLBTV on my playstation.
  2. Can someone help me find what channel the game is on in Southern Illinois? I'm in Red Bird country down here.
  3. I said early on in the spring that I think this team would compete and so far they have kept on track. Let's hope for more surprises to come.
  4. :headband Watch Frank Thomas will be our hitting coach.
  5. QUOTE (ptatc @ May 3, 2011 -> 10:03 AM) It isn't crap. AJ is a classic jerk and bully. Nobody likes him. I like him.
  6. I don't think its the end yet. They will come around its only april.
  7. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 11:49 PM) Acquiring Manny will propel them to the offseason, but thats about it. Adding Threets and a few other bullpen arms will help come September. They need to regroup and retool. Getting Manny would def help.
  8. found this on the web. Kind of touches upon the sox's offense and pitching. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=in8tqstz8co
  9. I think we should move either of the two. By trading Alexei Ramirez we free up SS for Beckham and give either Dayan a shot or Fields a starting job @ 3rd. Dye could be shopped around in a deal for Roy Halladay.
  10. its his fastball. Hitters seem to see it coming from a mile away. Its his breaking pitches that seem to have the best results.
  11. QUOTE (wilmot825 @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 11:52 AM) You think Carl would have done Ace Ventura and beat up the T-Rex? I think so. He would have tackled the thing.
  12. Cubs fired their hitting coach now they will just have an offensive explosion against our pitching with the Sox not able to capitalize with runners in scoring position...Greg Walker will still have a job. LOL
  13. http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/news/story?id=4242152 Updated: June 8, 2009, 6:38 PM ET White Sox add Contreras, Garcia Comment Email Print Share ESPNChicago.com The slumping Chicago White Sox made a couple of moves to shore up their pitching staff. The team announced that it had called up right-hander Jose Contreras from Triple-A Charlotte to start in the second game of a doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers on Monday night. The White Sox also signed right-hander Freddy Garcia to a minor league deal, sources told ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney. To make room on the roster for Contreras, the team sent left-hander Wes Whisler down to Charlotte. Contreras went 3-1 with a 2.70 ERA and one shutout in five starts with Charlotte after being optioned on May 10. He allowed 19 hits, walked 16 batters and struck out 27. Contreras made his season debut on April 10 against Minnesota, just 242 days after surgery to repair a ruptured left Achilles tendon. Contreras has gone 0-5 with a 8.19 ERA in six starts with the White Sox this season, allowing 40 hits with 16 walks and 17 strikeouts. Garcia has been battling shoulder problems for the past two years. He was released by the New York Mets in April after making two rehabilitation starts in Buffalo. He had surgery on his throwing shoulder in August 2007 and made only 14 starts the previous two seasons with Philadelphia and Detroit. For his career, he is 118-77 with a 4.07 ERA. He made two All-Star teams. After his contract was purchased from Charlotte on May 30, Whisler made three relief appearances with the White Sox. According to the news release, he allowed two runs. He is 5-3 with a 2.81 ERA in 10 starts with Charlotte this season. Not sure if this has been posted already. I guess KW is bringing the band back together again.
  14. QUOTE (WSoxMatt @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 08:18 AM) http://www.chicagolandradioandmedia.com/ Posted by Ed Sherman at 6/9/2009 5:01 AM CDT on Chicago Business Frank Thomas is coming back to Chicago. Not as a hitter, although the White Sox could use every bit of help they can get these days. Rather, "The Big Hurt" will return as a special analyst for the upcoming White Sox-Cubs games. Mr. Thomas will work the extended pre-game and post-game reports for Comcast Sports Net's coverage of 5 of the 6 games; Fox has the Saturday afternoon games at U.S. Cellular Field. A representative for Mr. Thomas recently contacted Charlie Schumacher, CSN's senior news director, saying that the former Sox slugger was interested in doing some work for the network. The Crosstown series was a natural starting point. Mr. Thomas will work live from the ballpark for the pregame shows and either at the ballpark or in studio for the post-game shows. It remains to be seen if Mr. Thomas will do more work for CSN beyond the Cub-Sox games. Bill Melton has been a fixture as CSN's studio analyst for the Sox. This isn't Mr. Thomas' first plunge into being an analyst. Previously, he worked in the studio for TNT's coverage of the 2007 playoffs. He didn't receive glowing reviews, as he looked stiff and uncertain. To be fair to Mr. Thomas, most active players (he still was with Toronto) often struggle when they get thrown so quickly on the big stage. It should be different for Mr. Thomas at CSN. This is the town where he became a huge star. That should provide him with more a comfort zone, allowing his true personality to emerge. Remember Mr. Thomas always has been an engaging interview. Also, the move signals Mr. Thomas' re-entry into the White Sox orbit. Let us not forget Mr. Thomas ugly departure from the team after 2005. The war of words prompted General Manager Kenny Williams to launch one of the all-time tirades against him. The situation has cooled since then. When Mr. Thomas visited Chicago in an opponent's uniform, the Sox gave him a nice scoreboard tribute. With the Sox being a part owner of CSN, the team had to sign off on Mr. Thomas coming in as a special analyst. It is an important step in what will eventually see the team retiring No. 35 and erecting a statue in his honor. Reading the title of this thread got my hopes up. Until I read the actual article.
