  1. The ones I want to see sign, even moreso than Sweeney are Nachreiner (5), Moviel (15), Brooks (11), Veal (12)and Hodges (13), all HS kids too who are supposed to be tough signs.
  2. I now see 14 signees with 6 of top 10. Tribune has us with 17. I bet they count the 3 draft and follows as 17, that would be cheating. I see these 4 on rosters now. I named 10 yesterday. 7th, James Casey, RHP from HS in Texas. 8th, John Russ, RHP from a JC in Texas (supposed to be a good one). 14th, Ricardo Nanita, OF from Florida International via Dominican Republic, this guy is supposed to really have tools. 21st, Matt Lenderman, C from HS in Texas (another good sign).
  3. Chisoxfn mentioned Gonzales needs to improve his bat. I think his fielding is where he is going to have trouble making it as a SS. He may be a guy that is switched to a different position, he makes a lot of errors. His bat has been coming around.
  4. Just to set record straight LaMarr Hoyt was traded with 2 minor leaguers to the Padres and we received 4 players. SS Ozzie Guillen, 3B Luis Salazar, RHP Bill Long and LHP Tim Lollar. BTW, we got Hoyt in a rather decent trade too. We sent Bucky Dent to Yankees and received RHP Lamarr Hoyt, RHP Bob Polinsky and OF Oscar Gamble.
  5. Go to this URL and click on rosters for Bristol and Great Falls. Bristol now has our 4th (SS Valido) and 20th rounders (3B Schmidt) on the roster Great Falls has our 3rd (OF King), 6th (1B/OF Kelly), 9th (OF Cook), 25th (3B Gray), 27 (RHP Pollok), 34th (OF Martin), 35 (LHP Thompson) and 40th (C Deuchler)
  6. He should not have been in top 30 even before 3 weeks ago, ha. I think Stewart is way too high too.
  7. White Sox prospect Brian Miller tossed a seven-inning no-hitter for Kannapolis in the first game of a doubleheader against Greensboro on Tuesday. Miller, 20, has a power arsenal and was ranked as the White Sox No. 16 prospect heading into the season. Before the no-hitter, he had been rocked this year, as he entered the game with a 4-4, 7.30 record, while surrendering 60 hits and 24 walks in 49 innings. He fanned seven and walked four, and may have received a helping hand from the hometown scorekeeper in the seventh inning. Greensboro third baseman Tom Merkle hit a ground ball deep into the hole at short, where Andy Gonzalez made a tough play and throw off of one knee to pull the first baseman off the bag. It was ruled an error instead of an infield hit. Miller, drafted in the 20th round last year out of a Michigan high school, pitches between 88-93 mph. He went 7-3, 4.30 in 13 starts for Rookie-level Bristol last season after signing in June. Miller slid to the 20th round because teams were scared off by his commitment to Michigan State.
  8. I think Rauch found lightning in a bottle in 2000 and will never approach that success again.
  9. Joey Gillikin went on DL for Kannapolis and old pal Nik Lubasich was activated, guess he decided not to retire afterall.
  10. Kannapolis wins 2-0 and loses 16-6 today, no boxes yet

  12. On official site, click on minors and look at roster for Bristol and Great Falls.
  13. That makes 4 as far as I know, on Bristol I see 4th rounder Robert Valido SS 27th rounder Dwayne Pollok RHP at Great Falls 9th rounder David Cook OF and I heard on here that 3rd rounder Clint King signed, do not see him on roster tho.
  14. Burke is a AAA-AAAA player, that is it.
  15. Still no boxes, but Win-Sal won 8-2 in game one, rained out in 2nd. Was to be Wing and Honel, so I assume Wing pitched the winner. Kannapolis lost 2-1 but won 3-2 in next game, so 2 well pitched games.
  16. LMAO, Lou takes Aubrey Huff off 3B cause he cannot play it well enuf, then picks up Liefer and plays HIM at third, jeesh.
  17. Thanks for the boxes guys, my favorite part of following baseball, minor league boxscores and projections.
  18. Brando, I thought you did not follow minors, I live up here in Minnesota and tho Prior was easy choice to be #1, Mauer is a stud, in fact, if something happened to AJ. P. Mauer would be starting now. He is that good defensively and offensively. Not sure who said he was slow either, for a C he is not. In HS he struck out 1 time, 1 time in 2-3 years. that is it. He has great eye and is very strong, all state QB in football, recruited like Wienke was to Fla State, also all state Guard in basketball. Take him over Jeremy Reed in a heartbeat and Reed is my favorite prospect.
  19. I agree with Rex, winning in minors breeds winning in majors. I want solid drafts, gotta get lucky to get a Prior, Kearns or Dunn. Prior, they were lucky Twins did not take him. Kearns and Dunn were good picks, at the time no one expected them to tear up the majors.
  20. Rex, I was talking about Almonte, I think about as much about him as I do Kohlmeier
  21. Well, one HS kid down with the SS from Miami Valido (4)having signed. We need others like Sweeney (2), Nachreiner (5), Casey (7), Brooks (11), Veal (12), Hodges (13) and Moviel (15) to sign to make this a most excellent draft.
  22. He just is not that good of a prospect, not sure why anyone got too carried away with him, he probably has reached his top level he will see. I am sure he is a nice guy and all, but not a top prospect or a closer for that matter, he was better off as spot starter and long reliever where he could use more of his pitches.
  23. King was not going to be hard to sign, the HS kids will be.
