  1. I don't see Jerry being comfortable past 145. It's going to be hard to fill holes.
  2. Seeing this, I get exactly what they're doing. 2021 is the only year that the Sox have a chance to win a title. They're not going to be able to fill out their holes around the core guys after this year. In fact, It would not surprise me if a core guy or two get traded next winter. If they have $160M committed for 2022 I see that being outside of Jerry's comfort level.
  3. https://www.soxmachine.com/2020/12/10/white-soxs-history-of-one-year-contracts-works-against-adam-eaton/ Hahn and Kenny have wasted 75M of Jerry's money on one year deals, getting worse than replacement level production as a whole. This is what I mean by.....spend the damn money on actual good players if you're going to spend it anyway.
  4. As much as it sucks, Fuller and Hicks should not be retained and they should be traded this spring. Get value while you still can.
  5. Jerry will never sign a pitcher with elbow issues to a 3+ year deal, so cross Tanaka off the list. Kluber reportedly is only interested in signing on the east coast.
  6. But at the end of the day, he ends up spending that $30M annually anyway......the difference is that they have that money available to spend every year. It's the definition of penny wise, dollar foolish.
  7. Um....that's the job description of a GM of a sports franchise. Owners should be hands off and let the (baseball/football/basketball/hockey) guy do their jobs. Give them a budget and let them fill out the team as they see fit within the parameters of the payroll budget. I will never understand why Jerry prefers to spend $30M on 3 guys who suck vs spending the same amount of money for someone who is actually good at their job. (because that's what baseball is for the players...a job)
  8. People keep saying this, but if they were interested in Brantley they obviously don't think Vaughn is quite MLB ready. I think it's likely he stays down all year.
  9. ^^^^ Eloy is just a big oaf out there in the OF. The sooner the Sox realize that, the better.
  10. The Hawks too under Bill Wirtz, I guess it's a Chicago tradition lol.
  11. I have never seen a sports organization with as much contempt for their fanbase as the Sox. It's baffling.
  12. That was a holy fuck moment and it makes you wonder how in the hell they're going to get Hendriks done.
  13. Nightengale is Kenny's BFF. I value his takes higher than any other national writer.
  14. OMG.....wow that's ridiculous. Can we put the idea of Bauer away then?
  15. I'll quit b****ing if they get Hendriks. That would be a good move.
  16. He was also worse than Mazara in 2020. Eaton is coming off a .226/.285/.669 triple slash with a -0.5 fWAR, right? At least Mazara was above water at 0.2.
  17. What good does having flexibility do if you don't ever use it?
  18. Dude, you hit the nail right on the head here. Nobody is mad they traded Dunning. Nobody is mad they acquired a pitcher as good as Lynn. People are mad that they traded 6 years of Dunning for only 1 year of Lynn. Dunning might not be shit, that's fine. But this trade was a horrid value and that's what we're complaining about.
  19. Let's say they sign Quintana, Hendriks, Pederson and Brantley. That's still not enough to get past the big boys. The Dodgers had the best regular season team in baseball for YEARS and they had to ADD the 2nd best player on the planet to THAT team in order to win a world series.
  20. Again, think about how bad Lopez has been, and realize he has a career WAR of 6.4.
