  1. Money talks. The Indians, Blackhawks, Chiefs and Braves are next. This doesn't get done without the threat from corporate sponsors. The Blackhawks might be able to get away with keeping their name if they separate it again and change their logo to a bird.
  2. It's Ron. Think about it. It's his schtick. Y4Y is Ron. That should tell you all you need to know. Ron being Ron.
  3. Don't get me wrong, I agree with every bit of that statement.
  4. I thought he wouldn't have enough reps to be ready for live pitching.
  5. I would have thought Cuthbert but he's not there either. They're fiddly fucked at 3B
  6. Thoughts: Moncada will be fine but he's going to miss the first week. That sucks because they play the Twins and Indians that week. Those games are going to be tough without him.
  7. I'm not even mad. I don't blame anyone for sitting out. Hell if you read my posts I don't even think they should be playing. That's the intellectual side. It's why I qualified it with the "meathead fan's perspective" I was speaking strictly as a meathead fan there and nothing else. It will have been 700+ days since Kopech last pitched the next time he takes the mound. Who says he's even able to contribute to the MLB club in 2021? He's had issues with command/walks in the past so.....
  8. From a fan's perspective, he's completely unreliable like Rodon at this point. Anything you get is gravy. I don't blame him at all for sitting out from an intellectual perspective. From a meathead fan perspective, he's unreliable.
  9. I tend to believe that it's a combo of this and that his wife is expecting. Makes sense. Some people that follow his wife on IG say she's been posting about pregnancy stuff so maybe when they take both factors into account, he's staying home this year. I don't blame anyone for doing so, but it takes a ton of balls to do it with 16 MLB innings under your belt.
  10. It got done about a week before they quit for covid.
  11. This could kill any chance of sports coming back. They've always been adamant about not stealing tests from the public. Idk how much longer they go on.
  12. This could knock everyone straight back to phase 1.
  13. Yep, being really greedy will suffice. Also, Covid positives are rising in IL. Seems to be obvious phase 4 was premature. Rembember, positives and deaths are a lagging indicator. So this means that cases were on the rise even before going into phase 4.
  14. Yep. Everyone has something they're dealing with. Most just choose to not seek help. It's a cultural flaw.
  15. To think that the Sox(or any team) could get away with this without losing a significant player to the Rona is pretty naive. If it's going to hit a significant player, better at training camp than during the season.
  16. The biggest issue from 2001-04 was that the Sox kept counting on their young arms who had been injured and lost effectiveness to fill that 5th starter spot and it never happened. Nobody got healthy, everyone sucked. By 2003 it was clear that those guys sucked, they should have just signed a veteran. I remember being pissed that they passed on Kenny Rogers in 2003. That could have been the guy that put them over the top. Had they just bit the bullet and signed one more arm to a 2 year deal over those years, they could have gone on another run or two prior to 2005.
  17. The NL had a team named the Cleveland Spiders. It's a historic nod.
  18. Wearing a mask with your nose sticking out is like wearing pants with Mr. Johnson hanging from the fly.
  19. Now we're getting somewhere. All of my comments on indoors being unsafe were based on the assumption that the a significant minority of the general public(say 15-20%) refuses to wear masks properly or at all and cannot be convinced otherwise. Based on my work as a food delivery driver it's probably closer to 35-40%. If that's the case, then we have to make decisions for the public good. I had an idea of making the consequences of not wearing a mask similar to a DUI, because like DUIs, not wearing a mask is public endangerment.
  20. Nobody is fucking saying that......god dammit. I never said don't come out of your basement and this is the fucking apocalypse. I did say that there is mounting evidence that being indoors with strangers isn't safe. I realize we have to keep the food supply going. I was talking more about the meatpacking industry where it has been unsafe. Nobody is saying don't go out and do things. I did say don't do things indoors. If they can show evidence that it's fairly safe keeping grocery stores, and WalMarts/Targets open I'm fine with it. Just make people wear masks and have a limit on customers. Actually enforce it. My draconian takeout groceries stuff is if people refuse to wear masks properly or at all. Otherwise, it's fine. No Shoes, no shirt, no service? No mask(properly), no service. Simple as that. Again: Indoor activities: Phase 1 Outdoor activities: Phase 3 and that's what I think.
  21. I have already as well. New reports say that antibodies only provide resistance for 3-4 months. When did you have it? I had mine in mid-March. You don't, there are plenty of things to do outside......it will be tougher in winter. I'm pretty much done arguing with you because this has reached ad absurdum levels.
