  1. Older hitters are regressing earlier because pitchers are pitching at peak velocity. The average fastball is just under 93 mph and has hovered between 92.5 and 93.1mph over the last few seasons. As a hitter ages, it gets harder to catch up with these fastballs. In 2010 the average fastball was just under 91 mph. Huge difference.
  2. Yup, just the typical AA adjustment period. Rutherford should be fine. There is no logjam for the time being as Adolfo can only DH. Once Adolfo is ready Basabe will go up to Charlotte.
  3. Idk, the Sox might be better themselves. Their May schedule is not easy. If they can get out a game or two under .500 for the month that is a huge step.
  4. That is normal at AA. It is a huge jump and an adjustment period is to be expected.
  5. No, but he injured the same elbow he had TJS on last summer. An obvious cause for concern. He hasn't been cleared to throw yet either, he had been DHing so far this season.
  6. When you're on the 40 man, every bit of development time is precious. With each injury he stagnates. I wouldn't be concerned about his option situation if the guy wasn't made of glass
  7. Rutherford has been coming around as of late. He has 2 HR and went 2-3 with a BB yesterday.
  8. This is why it is a concern. To be honest , he might have more value to a team like the Giants or Diamondbacks than the Sox for that reason. They would be able to carry him on the MLB roster regardless of whether or not he is ready, the Sox don't have that luxury anymore.
  9. Yeah, about guess it is past time to worry about anyone else's service time. The clock is already ticking on the guys already at the MLB level, so get the team competitive asap. He should go straight up to the Majors if he rakes in Birmingham. Cease, Collins and Robert should be called up as soon as the FO decides they're ready. I'm not counting on anything from Adolfo because of injuries and lack of options.
  10. I completely agree, I just don't think Ruiz is ready for the Bigs. He gets lit every time he's out there. Osich and Covey are definitely dead weight
  11. Disagree here. If he tears up Birmingham, send him to Charlotte in August. Also, does anyone know what the deal is with Robert's contract? Does it matter whether he opens the season with the Sox with regard to service time considerations?
  12. I can't post it, but Burdi to AA as well.
  13. Ruiz sucks. He has 99 and nothing else. They don't have to DFA him, but he needs time in Charlotte to develop a quality breaker.
  14. They're clearly the 3rd best team in the division. They are clearly a notch below the Twins and Indians, and clearly better than the Tigers and Royals
  15. The bullpen can still be solid. Fry, Herrera and Colome are solid, the rest, not so much. The big thing is weeding out bad arms that have no future. I think Ruiz can gtfo already.
  16. I meant with Eloy in the lineup. Him missing 4-6 weeks is going to keep them from winning 80 games imo. They'll win 72-77. 75 sounds about right.
  17. I think you can squint and see an 80 win team here. Maybe I'm nuts but they're clearly moving in the right direction.
  18. They do it with fantasy movies as well. Most of the actors in LOTR were British, Watch any other fantasy type movie they're all Brits.
  19. Could someone fucking explain to me why all fantasy and ancient Greek and Roman movies are done with Brits as actors? At least Harry Potter made sense because the story actually took place in Britain. There is some stupid ass rule in Hollywood that fantasy or ancient Greek/Romans=British accents I find this amusing
  20. It would be hilarious if the Bears won the Super Bowl and the Raiders finished last.
  21. I think his stuff is good but I wouldn't have put him out there vs any other team past the 5th. I've seen enough of Banuelos in ST and out of the bullpen to know he's going to be ok. He does walk and nibble too much, I wouldn't argue that.
  22. I was referring to a play earlier in the game where he just let a ball go by him to his left. I don't remember if it was in the 4th or 5th. I've seen it quite often this year. Ruiz is meat.
  23. Against the O's? Sure. I wouldn't do it against anybody else in the AL.
  24. Moncada looks like he is having trouble fielding balls to his left at 3B. Wtf was that by Garcia???
