Only a low IQ would lead anybody to call Eloy Jimenez a “bust” at this point in his career. SMH
Is Eloy a bust at this point? Absolutely not. Carson Fulmer is a bust. Is he a disappointment? Yes. There is a difference. Eloy is definitely an MLB player. I'm disappointed in the hit tool and the plate discipline. Power is legit.

You can say every single player in a slump is maddening
No. Moncada's in a slump and he still puts together a professional PA 50% of the time. Eloy doesn't. That's the difference.
I can't complain about Moncada's slump as much as Eloy because Moncada still works the pitcher and walks every now and then. Eloy just puts together crap PAs.

So he’s basically ever player ever?
Moncada's in a slump and he still puts together professional at bats at least somewhat consistently. Eloy doesn't. That's the difference.

When Eloy is hot he's excellent but when he's in a slump he's infuriating.
-
Beginning to think Moncada needs a week on the IL. He's clearly not right physically.

Abreu should have deposited that into RCF. Good lord this team is collectively slumping at the plate.

What makes you think Eloy doesn't have the potential to be an elite hitter? So far he has had about a year of major league experience. He raked the final month last year, started hot this season, went into a brief slump but then started hitting the ball hard again in Detroit, had a bad game against the Cardinals and now we are giving up on his potential?
He doesn't walk and swings at too much crap. Just like the rest of the team.

Everyone needs to read this thread. I'd post it all but it's about 15 tweets long.
I couldn't agree more. That guy is spot on. All of the problems that plagued the franchise in 2016 are still alive and well.

Best post from you all day Jack.
I wear my emotions on my sleeve during gamethreads. I go full meathead. It is what it is.
Just realize that all of my negative posts are about frustration and everyone will get it.

Ricky's quote continued. A 4 or 5 game winning streak isn't nice? I beg to differ. Ricky is just waiting for that 10-12 game winning streak. That is an EXTREMELY good winning streak, and an unreasonable expectation. What the hell is he even saying here? Ricky is a dolt.
Sounds like Jim Boylen.

Hey Kenny and Rick, do you know the difference?

Ricky is going to ride Grandal and his sub .290 SLG% hitting 3-4 the rest of the season, as if he's got 140 games left to turn it around.
The sense of urgency is so aggravating.
1000% Hahn will BS us this next off-season using the COVID shortened season as his and Ricky's crutch on why we shouldn't judge the team by this season's results.
If the Sox miss the playoffs in a season when 8 teams in the AL qualify, Hahn should be fired.

This lineup sucks.

Here's another thing about how terrible Hahn is at constructing a roster. Last season he had money to spend and struck out on big time free agents. So this year, after having mostly struck out on areas of need, he decides to go after a catcher. Which, was one area where the Sox could have rolled with McCann and Collins and see what we had in both. Instead, what does Hahn do? It's like he went into a store as a 10 year old with birthday money to buy a certain thing, sees they don't have it and buys whatever else he could because the money was burning a hole in his pocket.
The same clown who couldn't put a winner around two amazing pitchers should have never been given the ability to put the roster together after the rebuild. He had his chance to build a roster and couldn't get it done. He needs to go now before he ruins the window with this core with more bullshit signings like EE, or trades like Mazara. Or you know, getting to choose another manager.
I love this post.

Stop batting Grandal so high!
Grandal and Moncada are the only hitters in the lineup who know how to work the count. That's why he's batting 3rd.
Also MOAR GROUND BALLS.
I love the Sox. I go full meatball in gamethreads.
if you don't like it......

OMFG A WALK!!!!!!
I don't remember what those are.

Hahn put this roster together, so to a certain degree, Ricky is just playing with the toys he was given. The problem is, Ricky also doesn't understand how to play the game with the toys. They both need to be shown the door along with guys like Mazara and EE.
Do you remember when that fucking idiot Hahn said they wouldn't sign stop gap veteran free agents? Then continued to do that the last two years, for literally no reason. There was no reason to sign a guy like EE when we have multiple guys that could fill that roll and put up better production for far cheaper. It's just comical at this point. It won't matter how much talent we have if the coaches around them don't know what to do with them, or the fucking GM filling that roster out with garbage signings that hamper or hold back other prospects.
It's not like I expect his FA signings to be any good anyway. I'm expecting Keuchel to get blown up in the next game or two such that all of his offseason acquisitions look like crap.
I'm of the opinion that he never should have been allowed to re-build this team in the first place. I'm cautiously optimistic about Moncada, Robert and Anderson but besides them I'm fairly confident the rest of the lineup sucks.

What is with Fry...is he injured? Velo way down, what else is new?

Jack Parkman said like an hour ago that Eloy will be the next Delmon Young to let you know who you’re dealing with here.
I made a bad comp. EE without the walks is more like it.

If he hits .270 with 35+ homers and a ton of doubles yearly, who gives a shit?
Not sure he's even going to do that. Maybe .245-.265 with 35+ bombs and a few walks here and there.

Let's say it this way...if you acquired Mazara and expected you'd tender him an arbitration offer for 2021, nothing other than a major injury should change that idea. Even a whole lot of sucking.
I was only expecting to tender him if he took a step or two forward. It was a gamble on a young player that still has upside. If it doesn't work, move on and take your lumps.
Knowing the Sox they'll give him next year too.

I think EE without as many walks is a good comp for Eloy honestly.

Mazara is a ground ball machine. If he could ever get the ball in the air he kills it. Been the same story his whole career.
