I know people think they got lazy after they got paid, but despite that thought, anyone with baseball IQ realizes that it is their NEXT contract that gives them multigenerational wealth.

Moncada has signed over $100M in guaranteed contracts..

  2. I'm pretty apathetic about Chicago sports in general right now. The Bulls and White Sox are the most hopeless though.

I'm definitely not going to a game this year for the first time in a while. I might watch or listen to a couple games a week, but no team is must see tv right now.

My apathy toward the Sox started after Eloy and Robert got injured in 2021 and has only become worse. I was more excited in 2014 about the Sox than I have been since Eloy hurt himself in spring of '21. It felt like it was over before it even started.

I'd be lying if I told you that I still don't care at least on some level, but it's a hell of a lot less than before. Same with the other 3 teams I root for in town.

There used to be a time where I used to think it sucked to miss a game on tv. No more.

I listened to Clevinger's accuser's interview on 670 and she basically said she just want's him to get help and be a better father to his kids. She feels like she has to do this to get him to admit that he needs help.

  3. I complain about Jerry a lot but it's mostly about the following

    1. Pick a damn lane. Either you're a large market team or you're not. Structure the organization accordingly.

    2. Being overly risk averse.

Jerry has had top 10 payrolls, but he's not willing to spend to put the team over the top. So he's not necessarily cheap, but rather overly risk averse.

    3. Loyal to a fault.

Giving your FO a fair shot is one thing, but sometimes they've been given plenty of rope and hung themselves with it. It's ok to fire someone if they deserve it.

And you know this how? He has a good arm,  doesn't mean he's going to be a gazelle out there. He's got bad sprint speed and isn't an option for CF in a pinch ... so it's not like he's early day Engel out there.

Actually if you read scouting reports, Colas is able to play CF. Nobody thought that until he started playing. Is he Engel? No, but he has a rocket arm and is a capable defender in RF and CF.

Merkin is a mouthpiece. He writes what he's told to and Colas has obviously been that focus from Sox brass.

I'd love Colas to succeed. Based on his plate discipline + lack of time stateside/time in minors i fear he'll be severely overmatched. I think best case scenario is you see a Yermin type of output which then crashes to zero before optioning him back to AAA. I think a realistic scenario is a meh showing in Arizona, followed by the Sox almost being forced to play him out of the gate. Cold start, back to Charlotte by end of April & a late June call-up. I don't expect him to be very impressive or any better than what Sheets offers.

A .240/.291/.625OPS is about my expectation. Maybe hits 9HR? Bats in the 7th or 8th spot in the lineup. The type of production you LOVE to see out of your RF for a contender!

Colas can play defense, Sheets can't.
