  1. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 10:13 PM) So yah, we better win tonight. As a Skins fan and Sox fan, the football game and the Twins game have crushed this night. Cmon Jose! Washington lost?
  2. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 10:11 PM) I'd just like to point out my own observation: I know a few of you have been down on Thome of late for his lack of homers/"clutch hitting" but, IMO, he's been VERY key for us in terms of getting important walks. I can recall a couple times he's taken a walk in a close game with a man on first, putting that player in scoring position for a single after, and it's paid off a ton. His OBP is outstanding. He has had trouble against lefties, but he should at least still be batting 3rd against righties. Get Dye some more ABs with baserunners.
  3. These runs are big. The Sox rarely win 1-0,2-0, or 2-1 games. I believe only 5 all season.
  4. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 10:02 PM) Sure why not? I'm feeling particularly pessimistic tonight. Be careful, you'll scare off the good posters.
  5. The apocolypse is near. Paulie singles to right, and Thome takes third on Vlad.
  6. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 10:00 PM) So how is everybody gonna feel about not making the playoffs this year? What are you talking about? The Sox have the best players and the best manager. There is no way they won't make the playoffs.
  7. Dye bashing his knee Saturday has him very tentative around walls. He may have caught Sizemore's foul ball yesterday had he not hurt himself the night before. Sizemore then wouldn't have tripled.
  8. How can Hawk call the Count a 34 year old right hander without cracking up?
  9. That was lucky, but the Sox can't shake their heads and feel sorry for themselves.
  10. Where are all the guys who said the White Sox offense would take off with Dye batting 3rd?
  11. Someone will take a chance with Pods next season, but if he doesn't get back to stealing bases often, and not getting caught often, he's probably toast after 2007.
  12. I'd take Figgins in a heartbeat. I think he'll have a good year in 2007.
  13. It seems like the Sox go for real long stretches without baserunner an awful lot lately. Maybe the toll of having to provide so much offense this season has worn on them.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 09:29 PM) Yes, I think he'll be the type of guy who's year-to-year on his thought process. Even in the last few days, he's said things like "if I'm still here". If we miss the playoffs, maybe it will humble him. I think he's way beyond being able to be humbled now. He has bought all the hype.
  15. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 09:27 PM) Am I the only one who thinks that the way things are going right now, if nothing else the thought certainly has crossed his mind? I always thought that, but he recently stated his desire to manage the White Sox indefinitely.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 09:26 PM) Can't he just threaten to quit again? Now he wants to stay forever. I wonder if his sons will be 40 years old and hanging out in the dugout.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 09:22 PM) I just didn't see the need for him to state that. Ozzie needs to say something to keep him on the front page. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 09:24 PM) Over/under on how many time Vermeil sheds a tear in the booth tonight? I used to love when Vermeil did the Big Ten games with Brent Musburger.
  18. QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 09:22 PM) A guy that scores 100 runs every year? Best player in team history? Guillen talks like a used car salesman Its hard to call him the best player in team history. The best hitter, sure. If he played in another era, his career may have been 5 or 6 years shorter than it will be now.
  19. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 09:21 PM) Frank isn't a great baseball player in the overall sense, but he's one of the best hitters EVAR, for sure. That was Ozzie's point, and I agree with both of you.
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 09:14 PM) I don't know if people saw this, but did you hear who Ozzie described today as not being a "good baseball player"? I'm surprised it wasn't a huge thread. He did call him a great hitter though, and its one thing I can't see where you could really disagree with Ozzie.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 09:13 PM) I pray that this team can make the playoffs. However, it's sort of a therapeutic feeling know that the regular season is over in 3 weeks. I'll be extremely disappointed if we don't make the playoffs, but the more things remain the same, the more it seems like a longshot at this time with our brutal schedule coming up. Be careful, you never know who might be lurking to cherry-pick your comments. Detroit is going to get healthy with KC still on the schedule. I do believe the Sox will kick Seattle's ass, but 3 out of 4 may not be good enough. I think the Sox may need to get 6 out of 7 on the next homestand even if they go 3-3 on this trip.
  22. The Sox better find a way to at least split these 6 on this trip, or the playoffs are a pipedream.
